Thank you, Jennifer, for inviting me here on your podcast. It's really a privilege and an honor to be here. And yes, I remember that time, especially when you shared your wisdom over there during the panel. It was really fascinating. And I think that's how we clicked because that's, I feel that the like-minded brains are drawn towards each other through the vibes, through the frequency that they emanate. So I think that's how we connected. And I'm so blessed to be connected with these kind of like-minded people like you. So thank you so much.
Yeah, thank you, Ambreen, for your journey and sharing a little bit about it with me on our last call. I find it so inspiring that here you are, a woman. I think you told me you grew up in Pakistan and you had this dream of better understanding people, of writing a book. Talk us through a little bit about what was the journey of that life within your own consciousness. I know you and I have both had our own struggles with mental health throughout our lives. Tell us how the book actually birthed and how you got to where you are now inspiring people around the world.
Yeah, thank you for asking me that question because I think that's a very deep and profound question and it actually, that changed my life, that changed my consciousness. And then I think once we move to the higher level of consciousness, everything changes around us. I'll start from like my journey started when I was very young. My actually dad was working with a very renowned multinational company called Pfizer, and he was enjoying a very good job over there. And but then he lost the job because at that point in time Pfizer was going through some restructuring, and my dad actually got the golden handshake, and then he lost the job. But after that, we went through severe financial crisis, and because he was not able to find a good job again, or it is not up to his level. So he opted for some business, in which he faced a lot of losses, and that's when he got the big hit. And at that point in time, like, I was very young, and I thought that this life is not gonna change, and these troubles gonna stay for the rest of the life. And I developed severe depression, and in those Moments, actually. I it was so severe that I decided to actually take my life, and I had severe suicidal thoughts. And during those thoughts, I decided that one day I just decided that this is the end of my life. It should be the end of my life. But when I decided that, I tried to look for some very easy way to kill myself because I everything that like I every procedure and it quite some kind of it. has some pain, right? And I said, oh, it's so painful. I don't want to die a painful death. So I was looking for some very easy way which could induce a death very easy. But during those thoughts, I realized that if I'm looking for the easy way out, that means I'm going— like, I want to go remove this pain from my life, not the life itself. Hmm. And when it occurred to me that this— and then I realized that I'm not going away or I'm not trying to get rid of the pain itself. I'm trying to get rid of the thoughts that are making me painful. And when I realized that, I said, oh my God, this is something that I need to change. This is something linked with my thought, not with the outside world. And when that realization happened, I started changing my thoughts. And it may sound cliché that when you change your thoughts, everything around you changes, or when you start to change the look at the things you look at, change. It's actually real. And I've I felt it, I faced it myself. And I said, okay, I think I need to tell this to the world, that I know a lot of people have been suffering from this and it needs to change. But at that point in time, I was just in my teenagers and I didn't have, of course, the resources. And I said, and I'm like, I am, I've grown up in Pakistan where the women are not supposed to have these kind of big dreams to share it with the world or to write a book. Because women are supposed to get married, produce kids, and their identity is the link with their husbands, and they don't— they're not supposed to have their own identity. So I felt like, how can I achieve that goal? Because I wanted to write a book, and I have my big dreams in my life. So I made a plan, and I made a plan, and I gave myself 20 years to write a book. And then like in those years, I said like how I will build my identity. So whenever like if I'm sharing my idea with the people, so people should be, should take it as, take me as an expert and believe in me, what I'm saying. So I said I'll build my career. I'll like establish my career. I'll get married because I need to conform to the societal norms as well, because otherwise society wouldn't have accepted me. So I made a complete plan. And then like when those 20 years were over, of course, In the meantime, like, I was working on that, on my building identity and everything, and I had my own struggle, although I had written the plan. And but although my life was somehow was just like the plan, but I did have a lot of obstacles to follow through because it's not something that life is not easy every time when you go through, when you have a goal. One thing that I found that we need to keep going for the goal. It's not something that, like many a times I thought that I cannot do this. I need to give up on that goal, but I just kept going little by little. And I think that's why I gave myself 20 years because I knew that I won't be able to achieve it so early. Anyways, so when those 20 years are over, I started, of course I had my, I was writing blogs. I was giving the keynote speeches anyways, so I I formally started writing on the book. And then, like, when I started writing on the book, I started meeting with the people who helped me achieve my goal. Like, I got— I found my book coach who helped me. I found all lots of other people who helped me achieving that goal. And then I actually was able to publish the book on May 22nd.
Yeah, it's incredible. What a beautiful journey. I love how you were sharing About the story that there are obstacles and challenges, and that we sometimes think, oh, the path is gonna be straight and narrow. I'll just write a book over 20 years. Just before this, a dear friend of mine, who's a bestselling author herself, had shared with me a TikTok video from Louise Hay, of course, the prolific writer and founder behind Hay House. Yes. And Louise shared the story of her first accidental book she ever wrote. And she started making this list of symptoms and beliefs and how they correlated. And she tells a friend and she says, I've published it. And he says, oh, great. How many did you publish? Like 15, 20? And she said to him, 5,000. And he said, oh, you're never going to be able to sell those. And after a couple of years, she sold it. And then she wound up selling out of all the ones she had and then rewriting the book to make it even more in alignment with her audience. And yet, how many times, Ambreen, do we have a dream, whether it's a dream job or writing a book or finding our soulmate, and somebody tells us we can't or it's hard? Or to your point, we go through these depressive thoughts much like you. This is why one of the many reasons I think we connected on that mental health panel. I remember being 18 or 19, one of the first times I tried to kill myself. And much like you, I literally drove down to San Diego where I lived at the time, about 40 minutes south of my parents. And I went to Balboa Park, which is this beautiful park. And I thought about jumping off like a 2-story building. And then wait a second, what if that doesn't kill you? And so then I had to go the pills route. And after trying to kill myself a couple of times between 18 and 21, I realized I'm here, I'm still here, and there's a reason. And to your point, and Louise Hay and so many wonderful thought leaders. If we can be aware, bring our consciousness, as Arthur Samuel Joseph, my dear friend, would say, bring our conscious awareness to our thoughts and then ask ourselves, are these thoughts helping me? Or as you discovered, Imbreen, are they causing me pain? And the other part of your story, I was actually quoting you yesterday to a friend. You and I had this profound conversation the other day.
Mm-hmm.
And one of the other struggles I remember you mentioned to me is the idea of destiny.
How
much of our lives is predetermined? I have this conversation with people often. You might get a horoscope reading or Human Design or numerology or a palm reading, which I mentioned to
you.
And we think in some ways, this is my life. It's going to go this way. So why am I even bothering making a choice of who to date, what job to take. So tell us a little bit about your journey and how you discovered that we actually could put the harness and the reins of our destiny back into our own hands.
Yeah, that's a very good question, and thank you for asking me because this is one thing that actually troubled me a lot because these were the thoughts that actually were making me depressed. As I actually was sharing with you that my dad was a palmist and my uncle was a palmist, my grandfather was a palmist. So if I Inherited, and also I learned from them all the times. Basically, when we read palm, we can actually predict future, and that's what used to make me feel so, I would say, annoyed that why does it happen exactly the same way I predict? That means that I thought that it's there's nothing in our hand, right? And that's basically that was the main reason I was feeling depressed because I thought that. Lines in my palms cannot be changed, and what is written is actually written on stone. So the thing is, it's in a way it is true, but we have some control. And that's exactly why I have written this book, because we can take charge of our destiny if we know it. Otherwise, I feel that if we don't know that, we're going to go on autopilot mode and we'll just follow the destiny. Okay, what's the concept that I actually found out, especially in those darkest moments, which I find the most enlightening one, because those were the ones when I actually connected with myself and have discovered all these ideas, because I thought that during those times that I can be in charge of my destiny. Okay, so the concept is all about that. I, like, even yesterday, like that day I shared with you, I started with this. I will start my concept with this by quoting Shakespeare. Shakespeare has profound wisdom, and I really love to read about Shakespeare's plays and his writing. In his play As You Like It, he said that this world is a stage, and we all come into this world, play our character, and exit. So it is exactly the same. The script of the entire world has been written the way Big Bang happened and the way it's going to end. exactly the same way. Script is written. We cannot change. But what we can change is we can choose to— we can choose our role, that we can— that what role we want to play in this world. And for example, if someone is not as fortunate or as privileged, like is born into this world with less privileged environment and circumstances, then he can change it. If he wants, because the first thing is that he should want it and he should believe in it that he can do it. And if that person wants what he— if he knows what he wants in life, then he chooses his character, right? Like what exactly? Without knowing what you want, you will be like living your life very randomly. Like someday could be doing something else, the other day would be doing something else. So the main point is you should know exactly what you want to do, right? It doesn't matter whether you are poor or you're rich or whatever the circumstances is, but you should know exactly what you want to do. And then when you realize the purpose, that means that you have certain goal, and then you have to link your purpose with your thoughts with the emotions, because that is the, I would say, the deadliest combination when you have your thoughts and emotions together. Because, and why am I saying thoughts? Because we need to see that everything in this world is governed by some physical laws, right? It's everything is physical in nature. The only thing that is not physical in nature is our soul, right? That's a pure form of energy. And what else is the pure form of energy is our thoughts. So there is a link between the thoughts and the energy and the thoughts and the, sorry, So this, like when you have to, and I, I've like also mentioned in the book that our soul speaks the language of the emotion. So you have to link your thoughts with the emotions. So there is a connection between soul, thoughts, and the universe. And then thoughts, like through the quantum physics also, it's proven, it's at least theoretically proven that thoughts do not only change the internal physiology. If you keep on changing. If you have the positive thoughts, you change the internal physiology, you create a path which is called neuroplasticity, right? So you not only change the internal physiology, the quantum physics tells us that if we keep on thinking about it with that kind of supercharged emotion, that means we are sending a signal to the universe and we create the entanglement, right?
Hmm.
So we're creating an entanglement with the, our purpose, with the goal which we want. And there is like the ways to do it, like visualization and the other ways that how you can do it. And you're sending the signal to the universe to bring those events in your life. And as I mentioned that day also, these thoughts, oh, sorry, these destinies are just like the train tracks, right? So when we are, when someone is born to this world, they have been chosen for a track. They're going on a track, and if they don't want this destiny, they need to change the track. Because if they stay on the track, it's there's nothing they cannot change. They just need to change the role. They need to change the track to be on that whatever they wanted in life, and that's how they do it by choosing the purpose, sending the signal to the universe. And that's when I said also that when you send the signal to the universe, does it their own? Does it in its way to create a way for you to achieve or your goal to. To reach to your goal, right? And that when you realize, or when you have certain goal in your mind, somewhere from out of nowhere, people will come to you and help you achieve that goal. And like Paulo Coelho said that also, if you have a desire to achieve something, the entire universe conspires for you to achieve that goal. So it is all true. It may sound like maybe theoretical or something, but If you believe in it and you go, go for it, you will see, you will witness all the miracles in life. So that's in a nutshell, in a very brief way, I could describe that how we can take charge of the destiny then.
Yeah, that's so brilliant. I love that, Ambreen. In fact, you reminded me of a story years ago. So you're mentioning palm reading and years ago I knew a Kabbalistic face reader and palm reader. And he said so to me something years ago on a show I was doing, and he said, we can not only change our destiny, we can change the shape of our face in seven months and the lines on our palms. And I remember being depressed years ago after going to a palm reader in my early twenties who was like a friend. Oh, let me read your palms, and you think, oh, this means I'm not gonna have happiness, or I'm not gonna have this. So I remember this face reader said to me. that when we do the work, and in order to change the track we're on, we first need to make a shift in our own character and do the thing that's hardest for us— giving up something we're addicted to. It could be TV, social media, drugs, alcohol, it doesn't matter. Wow. Doing something that is one of the hardest things we could ever do allows us, according to the Kabbalists, to jump onto a new track and then go in a new path with a new destiny. And a funny story about this. If you look at pictures of me when I was very young, like in 18, 20 or so, I had very thin lips. And I remember I was about 33 years old and I was talking to one of my dearest friends I had known since I was a teenager. And she— I had sent her a picture of me at a party and she said, how could you? You got lip filler. And I said, no, I didn't get lip filler. And I never understood why she said that until a decade later. The Space Raider explains to me. If we bring more passion to our lives, our lips get fuller, as just one silly little example. And so the question is, what action can we take as human beings that will allow us to quantum leap into the destiny that we want rather than the one we don't? Are there any last thoughts you have for the audience or feedback on how they can change the train track of their life? And fulfill the life of their destiny, just like you talk about in your book?
Yeah, that's again a very brilliant question. And the one thing is basically, as I mentioned, they need to realize the purpose. They need to believe in themselves that they can achieve it. Because most of the time what happens is if we ask, let's say, someone who is not, let's say, very privileged, who's not in a privileged environment, And if he wants that kind of abundance in life, they don't believe in themselves. They said, oh my God, that's not possible. So one thing, like, they need to have that big dream and they need to believe that they can achieve that dream. Because if they don't believe in themselves, nothing's gonna happen. Because as I mentioned, that thoughts should be paired with emotions very— because once we have that kind of alignment with the thoughts and emotion, we are in the harmony because our mind, body, soul, everybody, everything, like all the aspects work in alignment. And that's exactly what we want. And that's how we get into the state of flow, I would say. I usually call in my book, I just describe it as what it's called. It's just To cover one. It's the passion. It's called, what is it called? Oh my God. It just—
It's okay when it drops.
Yeah. It's, yeah. So basically this is the frequency. There is one resonant frequency. Yes. So a passion or something is like a resonant frequency because one, everything in this world has that resonant frequency. When they achieve that resonant frequency, that actually achieve the optimal level. And when we realize that purpose or the passion, we achieve that resonant frequency of our soul. And then we go into the track that we want to achieve. So one thing I would just say that realize the purpose and believe in themselves that they can achieve it. And then just go for it. Don't, there will be this obstacle. There will be disruption, a lot of disruption there when they feel so much disheartened. Like even in my journey, like when I started Because as a young woman who has some dream of becoming a bestselling author, I would say, or the author, like just to write a book was a big dream for me. And a lot of people used to tell me that I cannot do this because I was a woman. I didn't have resources. And most of the people think that I— it was their reality. They think that I just need to focus on my family and raising up the kids. Which of course I did. It's not something that I did not do, but I did not give up on my dream as well. Just, I would say, dream big and believe in yourself that you can achieve it.
You're echoing the words, Ambreen, of a brilliant, another brilliant author. I was recently reading his book, Sunil Gupta, I believe it's his name. And he wrote a book called Backable. And he studied and he's, what has somebody be backable? What means somebody will believe in your dreams, get behind your book, get behind your company or your dream? And one of my favorite things is he said the precise same thing. He said the people who are the most backable are the ones who believe in themselves, who have this burning desire that they have, are the biggest believer of their product, their service, their company. And you even see it in dating. I don't know why this just dropped in. You might meet somebody and they're not the most attractive person in the world, yet they pull in the girls or guys, or they or them, it doesn't matter. But it's because they believe in themselves and it's that certain je ne sais quoi, that certain something. So what great advice, Ambreen. And where can people connect with you if they want to read your book? I know you have a huge following on LinkedIn. What's the best way for people to connect with you?
I'm very active on LinkedIn, so they can, if they are following me, they can send a message to me. They can also check out my work from my website, thepsychologytalks.com, and I think, uh, if they want to find a book, it's available on Amazon. Uh, but I think the easiest way is they can reach out to me through LinkedIn. I'm very active on LinkedIn.
Beautiful. Today we've had Ambreen Nadim on the show talking about her book, The Algorithm of Life, and how we can shift our thoughts to shift and change our destiny and begin to hop onto a different train track, the track that leads us to our dreams and our deepest hearts and desires being fulfilled. I am Jennifer K. Hill, and my wish for each and every one of us is whatever it takes for us to jump onto that new track that leads to our dreams, that we have the strength and certainty and belief in ourselves that allows us to do so. Thank you for being here with us.
Thank you so much for having me here. Thank you.
