You're Wasting Your Money On Protein (NEW RESEARCH)

Jeremy Ethier argues that beyond a moderate amount, extra protein provides little to no additional muscle-building benefit. He reviews a meta-analysis of 62 long-term resistance-training studies and case examples showing (1) training and total calories matter more than high protein, (2) moderate protein (~0.55–0.72 g/lb) suffices for most lifters, and (3) higher protein can be costly, filling, and sometimes counterproductive. He finishes with specific intake ranges and situational exceptions (dieting, very lean individuals, adherence).
