A brief YouTube clip (single-speaker) by Jesse Ewell identifying a common coaching mistake: inexperienced coaches focus on outcome-based goals (e.g., "lose 20 pounds") rather than coaching the underlying processes (nutrition, exercise, lifestyle habits). The speaker argues this gap prevents clients from getting results and leaves coaches frustrated.

One of the things that I see with a lot of coaching today is a lot of coaches are coaching results versus coaching the process. Really what that means is that it would be very similar to like somebody who wants to lose weight. You would just sit there and say, well you need to lose £20 and you would state the result that they actually want to get. And the problem with that is you're not actually coaching them on the process. What are the things that they need to do to actually lose 20 pounds. So talking about their nutrition, talking, talking about the exercise they need to do, talking about their lifestyle habits and all of those things go into the process. And where you see inexperienced coaches is they're just focused on losing the 20 pounds but not the actual process or explaining the process to their clients. And so the client doesn't get results and the coach usually gets frustrated because they don't see a change in their clients.
