A short YouTube monologue by Jesse Ewell describing his end-of-year practice: he spends the last four weeks of December reviewing what worked and what didn’t across business, marriage, and life, and uses findings to course-correct and set goals. He also recommends regular reflection at weekly, monthly, and quarterly cadences to spot repeating mistakes and sustain what makes you successful.

One of the biggest reflections or times of the year is obviously at the end of the year. Typically, I take the last four weeks of December to really kind of go through and reflect back on my year. The things that worked in business and in my marriage, just in really all areas of life. And then the things that did work, the things that didn't work, those are always like, the things that really kind of stick out. And then, you know, what are the things that I want to change or course correct on going forward. Doing that kind of gives you perspective on. On not making the same mistake you made the year before, but always having kind of a central focus that helps me really set myself up for success when I want to move forward into that following year. And so I think it's really important to reflect weekly, I think it's really important to reflect monthly, and then I think it's really important to reflect quarterly. And then it also at the end of the year, because you'll see indicators along the way where maybe you're making the same mistake. Maybe, maybe you're seeing the things that make you successful and you're like, I just need to do more of this and less of this. And it really just gives you a new perspective on setting goals in the upcoming year.
