In this International Women’s Day 2020 video, Jessica Hickman celebrates the achievements of inspiring women she has worked with across construction, finance, and technology. She references her experience interviewing these women on her podcast, speaking alongside them at conferences, and being interviewed by them. Jessica thanks male allies who have supported women in leadership and her own career in construction. She acknowledges progress in workplace mental‑health awareness but emphasizes that bullying and harassment remain pervasive, affecting all genders. Her core message urges listeners to speak up, start conversations about bullying and harassment, and become changemakers within their organisations.

Happy International Women's Day! I always love this time of year where we can celebrate inspiring women changing the world. Bullyology has amazing exposure to some women that are truly remarkable in all walks of life. This year I've been lucky enough to work with women in construction, women in finance, women in technology, and really have exposure to some just inspiring women. I've interviewed some on my podcasts and also spoke alongside some of the greatest in conferences and events. I've also had the opportunity to be interviewed by some of these amazing women. And also, I just wanna say thank you to the guys that are supporting women in leadership roles, and also some of the guys that I previously worked with that have really supported me as a female in construction. And I just wanna reach out to everyone today and just say, have a wonderful International Women's Day. And thank you for everything that you're doing to disrupt change. I honestly feel like we're stepping in the right direction. I feel that words like bullying and harassment are still where mental health was 5, 10 years ago, particularly in the workplace where people probably didn't feel as confident to speak up about mental health problems as they do today. It's quite kind of a safe space in most not most, but some organisations. So if I think about bullying, harassment, and women that are suffering in organisations, I feel like we still have our voice suppressed and we do have a long way to go. And that's not just women, it's men and women and all genders who are suffering in silence. So my message this International Women's Day is speak up, reach out, and really have a conversation with all people in the organisation and bring the topics of bullying and harassment to the front of your conversation and find out how you can help be a changemaker in this space. Happy International Women's Day.
