In this introductory video for Bullyology, founder Jessica Hickman welcomes viewers and introduces Sarah, a key team member and youth sector specialist. Jessica explains that Sarah joined Bullyology after meeting her in Darwin three years ago through a mutual UK friend; both share a background in youth and community work, having studied the same degree and held similar jobs in the UK. Sarah arrived in Australia as a backpacker, received support from Jessica, and later became involved when Jessica founded Bullyology. Sarah’s role is to focus on youth bullying and community outreach, while Jessica concentrates on corporate clients, especially the construction industry. Together they are recording an online course and planning workshops, highlighting their complementary expertise and shared passion for helping people become their best selves.
Hey everyone, this is Jess, the founder of Bullyology, and Sarah, Bullyology superstar. Hi! Today we're just recording an exciting online course. We're also putting together some workshops. So Sarah joined Bullyology because she's passionate, obviously, about the cause, but I just wanted you guys to meet her and, yeah, tell us a bit about yourself. On why, your background.
Okay, so, um, I'm Sarah, obviously. Jess and I met, um, it would have been about 3 years ago in Darwin, um, through a mutual friend from back in the UK. Both because we both, we both have the same interests and experience, which is in the youth sector, so youth and community work. Both studied the same degree, both had the same jobs back in the UK, um, and so that's what united we became really good friends really fast. Jess had my back when I arrived in Australia as a backpacker. She could definitely relate to some of the challenges that you might face there, so that naturally brought us together as well. And then years down the line, after, you know, 2 years of friendship, Jess founded Bullyology, and again, with that being in line with something that I, I'm passionate about, which is obviously helping people to be the best version of themselves and helping them through challenging times, was something that I was really keen to get on board with as well and to help her with and support So here I am, here I am. I'm trying to bring in a big focus on young people in the youth sector and bullying. I know Jess is obviously focusing a lot on the work sector and the construction industry, which is obviously, you know, it's massively important that we do focus our energies there. But yeah, obviously youth bullying is something that I've seen young people go through and help them overcome, so I'm quite keen to try and focus on that. Area as well, so it's exciting times.
It's exciting times. I'm really happy to be on board. I'm so happy I can have someone on board that is as passionate about the cause as me. Sarah was there in the early days when Bullyology was just an idea and a concept, and she's been helping me out a lot from the early stages and has shaped the workshops with me. And so yes, when you do engage with Bullyology, you do often see Sarah helping me out, run workshops and massive focus on youth. So Sarah's looking after the youth and community space for me while I really tackle the corporate and especially the construction industry. So just wanted you all to meet Sarah, how amazing she is, and thank you so much.
