Inside THE SENSEI LEADER Movement: Dealing with uncertainty…

In this brief exchange, Speaker A highlights the overarching concern of learning to deal with uncertainty, a central theme in the Sensei Leader movement. Speaker B acknowledges the point, indicating a shared focus on navigating ambiguous situations in leadership contexts.
Seems to be kind of an overarching concern. Learn to deal with uncertainty.
Hmm.
Yeah.
Yeah, well, that's a concern again across all three of the demographics that we deal with: aspiring, emerging, people that are in the middle, and the C-suite folks. Uncertainty is a big issue. It's a human issue. In a keynote, I talk about it a bit. In a workshop, we really, really break it down because you really have to understand that individual. What is the trepidation that individual is feeling about the change or the uncertainty? But the biggest thing, I'm going to really do it on a kind of 30,000-foot view here. We'd like to reasonably know what to expect tomorrow. But the truth is we really can't. The best we can do is we can prepare, we can train, we can learn, we can do the— right? Gather this experience that helps us better deal with the uncertainty. But we have to embrace the uncertainty. And here's the cool thing. Let's look at the opportunity that's there. When things are the same, there's never any opportunity. Opportunity comes from the change. And the only thing that we can really count on is the fact that things are going to change. That's where I find great comfort in uncertainty. I know things are going to be different tomorrow. Now, I've changed my mindset. So now, not only do I know things are going to be different tomorrow, but I want them to be. I find a lot of excitement now knowing that something's going to be different, but I want to— I do want to have some direction, right? I want to have some control over where that's going, but the best I can do is work on myself. That's where the training, the preparation comes in. And any uncertainty, heck, you know, embrace it. Uncertainty, it's the opportunity for you to discover the person you might not ever have experienced without it.
