For every 10% increase in sedentary time beyond four hours daily, mortality risk jumps 15%. The fix: a five-minute movement break every 45 minutes. Walking, jumping jacks, or push-ups work.
For every 10% of time that you spend over 4 hours sedentary adds 15% extra to your mortality rate. Wow. It's a massive correlation between sedentary behavior and mortality. The solution there that we give people that works extremely well is to take what's called an exercise snack. Every 45 minutes, take 5 minutes where you just get up, walk around, you maybe do some jumping jacks, maybe do some pushups. As long as you're moving every 45 minutes, that counteracts that sedentary behavior completely.
