Protect your brain by calming your nervous system through meditation and nature walks, then support your mitochondria with the right nutrients. Low-dose methylene blue, 4 to 16 mg, boosts cellular energy and acts as an antioxidant to prevent long-term brain damage.

How to protect their brain for life? The focus that I would have would be 2 different things, but very related. One would be mitochondrial function, and the second would be parasympathetic activation. And so parasympathetic activation is the activation of your nervous system that is part of your rest, digest, detoxify system. You likely are spending more time than you need to in fight or flight on a regular basis. If you're on fight or flight, you cannot heal. There are ways to calm down. So meditation, taking walks in nature, yoga, mindfulness, mind your GABA, Mind your parasympathetic nervous system, and then number two is your mitochondria. But your mitochondria are your powerhouse, the energy-producing parts of your cell. And as a result of producing energy, we also produce rust or waste products of energy metabolism, and these can build up and cause deterioration over time. Minding your mitochondria is so so important, and so having the right inputs into the mitochondria—these are things like our vitamins, minerals, nutrients, and cofactors—the food that we're eating really—and then how we're supporting that with supplementation. One compound that I use a lot of is something called methylene blue. Methylene blue at very very low doses at 4, 8, 16 milligrams, it's a fantastic way to support mitochondrial function. It can help you make more energy, and it helps with detoxification as well. It can act just like an antioxidant.
