Jim Kwik explains how the single question you ask yourself repeatedly shapes your focus and life outcomes. A people-pleaser asks "How do I get people to like me?" while someone solution-oriented asks "How do I fix it?" Reframing to "How do I reach my 10-year goal in 6 months?" prompts more ambitious answers.

If somebody asks themselves 1,000 times a day, how do I get people to like me? What's their life like? What's their personality? They're a people pleaser, very insecure. They're shy. They're a martyr. People take advantage of them. Their personality changes depending on who they're spending time with because they want to model them and be liked. And so you know nothing about this individual, but you know a whole lot about her because of just one question they ask themselves. What's your dominant question? Because whatever your dominant question is going to determine your focus. Your focus is going to determine how you feel. Your feelings determine what you do. What you do is going to determine your experience and your results in your life. My dominant question changed from why me to how do I fix it? And I started getting answers. If you have a question like, how do I reach my 10-year goal but do it in 6 months? You're gonna get a different set of answers.
