In this conversational segment, Jimmy Kim references a talk by the CEO and co‑founder of Omnisend, highlighting how many marketers initially overlook AI and MCP (connected AI) until they see concrete user stories. Jimmy asks why audiences only connect when presented with real‑world examples, prompting Chase to explain that social proof turns abstract marketing claims into relatable, selfishly useful scenarios. The dialogue then shifts to a specific, previously unconsidered MCP application: linking the MCP to a system to monitor email deliverability, a traditionally opaque metric. This example illustrates how connected AI can turn a “black box” problem into an actionable insight, showcasing the practical value of MCP for retention marketers.

Doritos, the CEO and co-founder of Omnisend, really talked about AI and what does it really mean to use an MCP, which again, we learned a lot of people didn't know. So it was a really educational piece that hit really hard. But really, I think the people didn't care. Like my humble opinion was they didn't care about a lot of the things until we got to these examples. And it was like, what happens here? How do you do it in the old way? And how do you do it with connected AI or MCP AI? And the output that you'll see depending on what the generic versus connected was. And this was a really good one that comes into place. Why do you think, Chase, like the thing that kind of came into my head was I the audience, and you know, I'm very intent with this stuff, but like, why do you think the audience doesn't connect until you have user stories? Is it really like the feature versus benefit kind of scenario? Like, what it does for me versus like what you're telling me it does? What do you think about that?
Sometimes people just see it as like marketing, and then when they see actual like use cases, here's how I'm using it, essentially here's how I can use it type of a thing, then because they're selfishly interested and they're like, okay, people are actually doing what they said that it can do. I just feel like that social proof there is really important as well.
You know, one of the ones that I've never thought about even testing with MCP that he popped up that made me stand was this one right here. You know, deliverability being such a black box for many people, and oftentimes you're lost when you don't know what's going on with your deliverability. And, you know, connecting your MCP to your system and then having it check your deliverability was kind of a hack to me. I've never thought about doing it that way.
I was at the one that he did in LA, which I'm guessing was pretty similar. It was great. I really liked it.
