Jimmy Kim shows how to use interactive quizzes and polls to collect first-party data for e-commerce personalization. Typeform, Diggio, and Alya let you tag customers based on their answers. The data only works if your quiz tool connects directly to your email platform or CRM like Omnisend or Klaviyo.

So when I think about the tools, first thing is you got to think about a quiz platform. I think those are pretty typical. You've got things like Typeform, you got Diggio, of course. I think Alya also does some type of quiz now. So, you know, finding something that has an interactive quiz for e-commerce is really important. When you're looking up the products, that's what you should be thinking about. Then you can think about polls, right? Now polls are a little bit different because most ESPs have some way of doing it. A poll doesn't have to be complicated. Omnisend or any custom embeddable poll is out there. Pretty easy to be able to go ahead and like a yes/no question, 1/2 question, even if you're literally embedding 2 links and based on whatever they click on, tag that user in the backend, right? You know, that data can flow into your segmentation. So that's the technology piece. You wanna make sure all of that goes in there. The technology's there to make it really easy and really way quick to make it interactive. And the number one tip I'll say, regardless of what tool you use, is ensure whatever tool you use can integrate well with your main CRM. So though it be Omnisend or Klaviyo or Mailchimp, whatever tool that you might wanna use, you wanna make sure that data can actually be added to it and actually be segmented again so that you actually can use that tool in real time when things are happening, right? That's the whole point of this stuff. Don't collect this information if there's literally nothing you're gonna do with it. You wanna collect this information because it's valuable and important and useful to creating a better experience for your customers. Subscribe to the pod.
