Write your email to one real person first, using their name and details you know about them. Then swap the name for a merge tag in your ESP and send it to everyone with that attribute. It feels personal because you wrote it that way, but scales to thousands.

When you select a segment and it's 1,000 people or 10,000 or 100,000 people, you know inherently in your mind that this isn't just going to one person. So you start writing for the general crowd. Or what I like to do is I like to open up my Gmail window. I might type in Jimmy and I might type your email and I'll put something like, hey Jimmy, based on what I know about you, I know you like cars. If I'm selling something on cars, I'm gonna be like, hey Jimmy, wanted to let you know about our newest product specifically for Audi owners like yourself. We think you're gonna like it for X, Y, and Z reason. Because I have these attributes I know about you and because I'm writing within a window that I'm used to writing friends and family emails within Gmail, it allows me to write a message that, that's very personal for you. And then I'd go into the ESP and I might then just switch the, hey Jimmy, to insert first name. I would set the segment of people that have indicated that they have an Audi. Subscribe to the pod.
