Jimmy Kim and Speaker B argue that most new email subscribers who will ever buy do so within 7-10 days of signing up. After day 10, conversion rates drop sharply. They say aggressive welcome series with early offers outperform the conventional approach of building relationships first.
Being aggressive in your welcome series is not a bad thing. It's actually the most important thing. And this is the one that I think we got the most pushback on your post about.
Yeah, because everyone has been told, you know, frankly, the opposite. You know, build the relationship first. Don't lead with a discount. Educate before you sell.
And those things, look, they're not entirely wrong, but they're being applied wrong ultimately.
Yeah, absolutely. And look, this is what the data says. So in D2C, most subscribers who will ever buy from you do so typically within the first 7 to 10 days after joining your list.
Yeah, not even most, man. I would say the majority.
It is true, the majority. And after day 10, conversion rates dramatically off a cliff. Sure, you're gonna still get some buyers. We're not saying that, but the bulk of your revenue from a new subscriber is going to happen within that first 7 to 10 day window.
Yeah, and I agree with that. So listen, if you're not being aggressive in that window, you're sending educational content or brand stories or emails for 2 weeks before you make them an offer, in my humble opinion, and I think you agree with me, you're missing the moment that actually matters the most.
