Jimmy Kim explains that SMS messages get opened within two minutes, so send time dramatically affects conversion rates. A text at 3 AM is like yelling through a bedroom window. Content matters, but timing decides whether anyone acts on it.

When you think about SMS, I think SMS is even louder when this stuff, you know, the data shows that people will open a text within 2 minutes, right? Think about that, 2 minutes. The conversion kind of depends on like the morning versus the night. We'll talk about this a little bit more on this pod, but like what we're seeing is like if it's too early in the morning, they're commuting, or if it's too late at night, they're falling asleep. And I think timing has a difference between tapping on someone's shoulder versus like yelling through their bedroom window at like 3:00 AM. That's really important.
And I guess like the best kind of parallel would be like we all talk about like content being king and how important content is. And obviously, right, there's non-negotiable for that. It is really true. But send time happens to be the gatekeeper, right? Send time is basically the ability of whether you get someone to do the action that you want them to do at a higher likelihood or not. Subscribe to the pod.
