012 LinkedIn Live 2024 with Joe Apfelbaum // evyAI.com Tutorial

In this 30‑minute LinkedIn Live session, Joe Apfelbaum demonstrates how to turn previous LinkedIn posts into live video content, using the process as a way to generate fresh, repurposed material when live audiences are small. He walks the audience through his own recent posts, reads them aloud, and shows how to expand them into a live presentation. Throughout the broadcast he showcases Evvy AI—a suite of AI tools that can generate post ideas, write full posts, craft comments, draft messages, optimize profiles, and organize connections into lists. Joe demonstrates the idea‑generator, post‑writer, comment‑generator, and visual editing features in real time, highlighting how the AI reduces creation time. He also shares public‑speaking tactics (storytelling, audience engagement, one‑to‑one focus, authenticity) and personal development affirmations that helped him overcome imposter syndrome. A large portion of the talk is devoted to networking strategy: building deep relationships with a handful of contacts versus “hoarding” connections, critiquing engagement pods, and encouraging genuine conversations. He promotes his Engaged Thought Leader community and the upcoming Influencer Summit, inviting viewers to register and join. The session ends with a Q&A‑style call for feedback and a reminder to spend 10‑15 minutes daily on LinkedIn to amplify impact.

12:12. That's where we are. We are live on LinkedIn again, and I'm excited today because I had an idea about reviewing LinkedIn posts during my LinkedIn Live. And I found that this particular type of idea could be very helpful for people that maybe miss some of my posts. And want to kind of catch up on some posts. And also it could be helpful for me to be able to show people how you can convert those posts that you've used before as videos, because sometimes people don't really have specific types of content or content ideas that they can share. And often when some of my connections go on LinkedIn Live, they don't really have a huge audience that is on LinkedIn Live watching them in that moment, especially if it's like on a weekend or Sunday. And they're actually using LinkedIn Live as a tool to be able to create more consistent content. So if you don't have a big audience watching your LinkedIn Lives and you want to be able to use LinkedIn Live kind of as like a tool to help you be able to create additional videos and additional content, And my suggestion is to use it to review some of your previous posts from the past. And this way you're able to create videos with information that you've already shared, kind of like as a post, but now you're doing it in a way that is a different medium. And then you can use AI to help you be able to turn those videos into little clips. I'll give you an example. Here's a post that I wrote 15 hours ago. I said the following: What would you feel if you had a room of 100 people completely silent listening to you for 3 hours? For most people, they would be nervous. But what I learned from my coach, which was a game changer, was that our body language— our body doesn't speak English. It doesn't know if we're nervous or we're excited. And We take our feelings and we create stories and we label them. And if you want to use it in an empowering way instead of in a disempowering way, you have to be able to change a script next time you feel nervous. Saying, I'm excited, instead of saying, I'm nervous, will help you be able to start channeling those feelings you feel in your body, like your heart racing, you're feeling sweaty, or you're feeling lots of energy. And it'll help you feel more excited, actually. It'll actually say, wow. You know, I'm feeling these feelings. I think I'm nervous because I have imposter syndrome or whatever it is. But the reality is I'm actually excited. And you got to find proof of why you're excited that you're on stage and even tell people that you're excited. But there are 5 things that you can practice to become a better speaker. Number 1 is you got to tell personal stories. Number 2 is you have to engage the audience. Number 3 is share interesting facts and stats. Number 4 is talk to one person at a time. And number 5 is be fully yourself. Let's break down each one of these individually. Number 1, tell stories because stories make people listen. If you look at the recording of my 3-hour talk, you'll notice that I told over 100 stories during that sales training. Every time I give an example, it was a story. Every time I shared what happened to me, it was a story. Features tell and stories— Sell. Sell. That's why we teach storytelling inside our LinkedIn course. Number 2, engage the audience. Engaging is more than just asking questions, but making the audience guess. By the way, how many connections do you have right now on LinkedIn? Let me know in the comments below. Do you know approximately how many you have? If you don't know, write, I don't know. You wanna make your audience guess. You want them to think, you want them to answer. Ask questions that are easy to answer to get people to participate. So I asked you a question that was relatively easy to answer just now, right? Just write yes. If it was easy for you to answer that question, I just wrote yes myself in the comments. So engaging the audience is about getting people to guess, getting people to think, and getting people to actually want to answer because the audience wants to perform too. Number 4, when connecting with a lot of people, like at an event, make sure that you connect with people one at a time. When I talk to my friend Jim Stevens, I'm only talking to the tallest man in the room, but everyone else is listening, but they love being off the hook while I'm having a conversation with a particular participant. You see what I did over there? I read my LinkedIn post and that helps me be able to connect with the audience in a particular way, be able to develop additional LinkedIn Live content. Let me show you the actual post that I just read so that you can see what I'm talking about. So if you go to my recent activity here on LinkedIn, and if you guys are live now, just tell me where in the world you're dialing in from. Curious to know, put it in the chat. I'm gonna type in New Jersey in the chat. N-E-W-G-R-S-E-Y, New Jersey. That's where I am right now. I'm curious to know, where are you coming in live from? We're just getting warmed up here on this LinkedIn Live, and we're talking about repurposing content from the past and using it in your LinkedIn Lives. If you guys are going on LinkedIn Live, doing that. So I posted this post over here. What would you feel if you had a room of 100 people completely silent listening to you for 3 hours? You see that? For most people, the answer would be they would be nervous. And so I, I basically just read this post and I didn't read the entirety of the post here on LinkedIn Live, but I just read this post so that you get an idea of what it would feel like for me to be able to share this information on a LinkedIn Live and share the different tips that I already had shared as a post, because this is a different way of presenting. This is a different format. Okay, so let's review some of my previous posts here together. Hopefully you can see my screen here. And I'm gonna zoom in a little bit so you can have a clearer view of my screen. So this is a LinkedIn Live I'm doing right now in real time. And if you leave a comment, I'll be able to see it here in the comments. Instead of most relevant, I'm gonna go to most recent just to see if anybody actually left a comment. I could see I'm the one that left a comment here. So if you do wanna leave a comment with where you're dialing in from, go ahead and do that. And I will notice it next time I refresh on the post. All right. By the way, last night I went live and I got a very nice group of people that joined me live. This is a repost over here. If I keep scrolling down, this is a video post. Where is that video from last night? Oh, this is the one from last night. You see 1,800 impressions. These are the people that checked it out and commented on it. Nabi, Giacomo, Diane. You see that? Rick, and so on. These are the awesome people that engaged with me. This is the post where I said when my relationship ended, I thought it would impact my connection with my kids. But because it was a huge fear that I wouldn't spend enough time with them, I stayed in the relationship much longer because I wanted to be near my kids full-time. What I found by ending the relationship that was not working, it actually improved my relationship with my kids by 10x. It had been a blessing. See, and I shared this little story here. And as you can see, it was a hit. Here I reposted this post that we posted for Tina Larson. See that? This was another LinkedIn Live I did, version number 10. I'm going to stop sharing my screen for just a second. I just want to make sure that you guys can actually see my screen. If you're tuning in live right now, I want to make sure that you're using artificial intelligence together with LinkedIn. The reason why it's important for you to use AI with LinkedIn is because you'll save a ton of time. You'll be able to write posts faster. You'll be able to come up with new innovative ideas for what to post about. You'll be able to draft messages from your AI to help you be able to quickly reply in a professional way in the LinkedIn direct message. You'll be able to craft connection notes. You'll be able to contribute to articles using the collaborative articles feature when you go to linkedin.com/advice. You'll be able to save profiles into lists so that you can target specific people And leave comments on their posts. I'm not sure if the audio came through, but I'm going to watch the replay later to see. Sometimes the audio doesn't particularly come through. Hopefully the audio came through for you. Let me know if it did come through and you were able to listen to that. That would be very helpful for me. And if the audio didn't come through, it was a test. I appreciate you coming here and learning with me on this LinkedIn Live. My goal is to go on LinkedIn every single day live for at least 10 minutes and share some insights, share some ideas, share some thoughts, and just give you some value. I'm looking through my recent content here to share with you some stuff that I think can be valuable. I recently shared a post a few days ago about how I used to be afraid of sharing my voice. I used to be afraid of sharing my selfie. I used to think that I wasn't worthy, that I didn't add enough value. I used to think I was an idiot to protect my ego. And everything changed when I realized that these thoughts were stopping me from living my best life. Doing personal development has helped me to be able to refrain from thinking these thoughts and transform The way that I show up. Now I selflessly share my selfies and my journey with you. And for me, it's not about getting attention. It's here to allow me to inspire you. I'm not here to show you my breakfast, but I'm sure you would like to know what I ate this morning for breakfast. I actually ate some raw eggs. I'm not here to make noise. I'm here to love, to connect, to share my voice, and to encourage you to share your voice too. The only way that I can inspire and motivate thousands of people is by me loving myself dearly. So here are some affirmations that I would recommend you tell yourself every day. I am worthy of love. I am worthy of sharing my voice. I lead with my thoughts. I'm in control of my destiny. I'm a beautiful human being. My existence is valuable. Me just being adds value. I love myself more than anyone could possibly love me. And I'm here to make a difference for myself and for others. Showing up allows me to inspire other people. Now I want you to pick a few of those affirmations and create your own affirmations to be able to start programming your mind to allow yourself to share more. Last night I had a conversation with a LinkedIn connection that actually came over for some mentoring, and we were talking about his business. And he said, Joe, I'm not really ready to launch my business to the next level. I'm feeling comfortable where I am. And I said, if you're feeling comfortable, then you might easily get burnt out. You need to push the limits a little bit to get to your discomfort, like a little bit of discomfort in order for you to move to the next level. And he's like, you know what? I am getting a little burnt out. And maybe that's what I need to do. Maybe I need to get a little uncomfortable And I need to feel a little more progress and a little more growth in order for me to be able to take my life to the next level. A lot of people, they get comfortable because we think that that's the goal, you know, to retire, to stop working. But the goal is not to stop working. The goal is to start living. I want you to take a moment and ask yourself, how much are you living the life that you actually want to live? How deep are you going? How deep are you going in your business? How deep are you going with your LinkedIn connections? Today, I had a conversation with Nishit Kotak. Nishit Kotak reached out to me. He's one of my clients in Evy AI, and we were just chatting, and I was having an authentic, amazing conversation with him, talking to him about various products, talking to him about the LinkedIn API. Do you take the time to actually have conversations with your connections? Or are you just hoarding connections? Most people are hoarding connections. They're not actually building relationships. And when you take the time to go back and forth with somebody and you build an actual relationship, well, that's really a game changer. We were talking about LinkedIn engagement pods. I don't believe that LinkedIn engagement pods are valuable. I think that building relationships with people that will also engage with you on LinkedIn is valuable. Just the, the impact of a pod and just getting a bunch of comments, that itself is not valuable. But actually building those relationships and connecting with people and really getting to know them, that is extremely valuable. So I would recommend doing that as opposed to just, you know, hoping for the best. Hope is a great thing. It's just not a great strategy. So my question to you is, what are you doing? What are you doing to take your life and your business to a whole new level? How are you building those relationships and connections? Are you actually sitting down and connecting with people in a meaningful way, or are you ghosting, posting and ghosting? Are you really getting to know people? Are you actually reading their profile? Are you actually making that phone call? Are you actually documenting the information about them? If you're not doing that, then you could be leaving a lot on the table. I highly recommend taking the time and thinking about your networking strategy for 2024. Do you have 4 people on LinkedIn that you actually go deep with? Do you have that? Do you have 4 people that you actually go deep with? If you don't have those 4 people, then Think about who are those 4 people that you can actually go deep with and build real meaningful relationships with. And if you don't have enough people that you're connected to and build relationships on LinkedIn, then go to LinkedIn Influencer Summit, uh, go to influencersummit2024.com and register for our upcoming Influencer Summit. It's going to be a fabulous event. It's our 6th year. We're bringing together some amazing folks like Shay Rowbottom. We're bringing together some amazing folks that will actually show you the step-by-step process that you need to take in order for you to be successful on LinkedIn. Judy Hayes is going to be there. We're going to have Ivana. We're going to have Adam and Mac and Jason and some other pretty cool LinkedIn influencers that are going to share some insights that are going to be pretty game-changing. So if you haven't registered, registered for it, I highly recommend you go and you register for it. Uh, I'm going to be there. It's going to be 3 hours long on Wednesday at 2:00 PM. So if you're coming, just say, Joe, I plan on attending in the comments. I'd love to see you there as well. So let's go into LinkedIn. I want to show off our latest feature now, uh, from Evvy AI. We, we just recently launched a new feature that I think could be very useful to you in your business. So I'm going to share my screen right now. This is my profile. Now I'm going to go down to my profile and I'm going to take a look at some of the people that have been commenting on my recent posts. So after I go live, I typically publish a post on LinkedIn after I go live. Why do I publish a post after I go live? The reason I publish a post after I go live is because my live post is not really going to get out there much. And often when you post a post, the previous post that you posted is not going to do as well. So it's a great time for you to go ahead and post another post. Okay. I did not listen to the talk. I must say the synergy, I'm just going to write this. I must say the synergy between is palpable. Julie, your insights are truly valuable. Okay. So I just tagged her just like that. But again, if the AI makes something up, then you can just delete what it made up. So I just shared. a comment here on Julie's post. Now I want to be able to come up with ideas. So what am I going to do? I'm going to go into Evy AI and I'm going to go into where it says write a new post here. Do you see that? It says write a new post. So I'm going to click on write a new post and on the left side I'm going to click idea generator. Now it asks me this question. It says, what type of post ideas would you like Evy AI to generate? So you have to give it some information, but first I'm going to select a persona. Cool. Joe Applebaum. And then I'm going to give it an idea about the benefits of being a thought leader. I'm just going to write thought leadership. Okay, so that's the comment: thought leadership for entrepreneurs and LinkedIn users. Okay, so I'm going to do generate ideas. So I don't know the types of ideas that it's going to generate, but check this out: lessons from failure from Networking in a Digital Age, Minimalistic Marketing: Cutting Through the Noise, The Art of the Side Hustle: Balancing Passion and Profit. I'm going to do Networking in the Digital Age. I'm going to edit this particular idea here. So you see I can edit it. Now we're going to put Building Meaningful Relationships Online on LinkedIn and staying top of mind. Top of mind by posting on a regular basis. Basis. People will not just remember you. Okay, now I'm going to press save. You see, I just saved this idea. Now I'm going to press generate post. Now it's going to take this idea that I modified. So I got the idea from here, I modified the idea, I saved the idea with the modified version of it, and now I have this amazing post. In today's digital age, building meaningful connections is better than ever. Let's face it, with millions of professionals vying for attention How can you stand out from the crowd and make a lasting impression? The answer is becoming a thought leader on LinkedIn and networking with other thought leaders. Okay, so now I'm going to copy this content. I'm going to go into LinkedIn. I'm going to press start a new post, and I'm going to paste this content in. Okay, are you ready to take your networking game to the next level? Maybe consider Thought leadership. Feeling we're gonna link is more important than ever, but let's face it, millions of people vying for attention. How can you stand up from the crowd? The answer lies in becoming a thought leader. Combining Okay, so you see that? Here's the thing, people won't remember if you don't share your voice. It's not just to have a profile, but you also need To showcase your expertise. That's how you become a go-to industry, in my mind. Okay, so talk about consistency. It's not about the number of likes you receive, but the quality of interaction. So ask yourself, what unique insights can you bring to the table? What stories, anecdotes? Here's, here's where networking with thought leaders comes into play. By connecting with other professors, you not only expand your network, but also gain access to the audience. Engage with their content, share with them, collaboration is the name of the game. Let's talk about the impact of all this. Becoming a thought leader on LinkedIn will help you impact collaborations. You'll become the person they think about. So here's a call to action. Start sharing your voice on LinkedIn today. Craft engaging posts. Connect with other thought leaders. Together, let's create a community of professionals. Okay. Okay, so I said, would you want to join this type of community? I'm going to go here and I'm going to do LinkedIn. I'm going to do LinkedIn space hashtag success. Okay, do you see what I did over here? I took this post and I completely modified it. From A to Z, but the AI drafted it for me, so it took me a lot less time to do that. Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to take this post of me and my aunt. Let's see if I can edit this, make it into a square. Let's see if I can move it around. Look at that, you can have different shapes now. That's cool. This is a new feature. This wasn't here before. Let's see what this does. Oh, it flips it around. I love that. Flips it like this. And you can flip it around and do all this stuff, this flippy flippy stuff. I love that. That's really cool. Check it out. Turn it to a square. I'm going to zoom out. That's cool. I'm going to press Enter. That's me and my aunt. Alt. Joe Apfelbaum and his fave aunt at the bar mitzvah. Of his son. Boom. Okay, I'm gonna press add, press next. Are you ready to take your networking to the next level? May I consider— may I maybe consider thought leadership? Okay. All right, I love this. And I put a photo of myself and my aunt. And now I press post. And my question is, how long did it take me to post that? Did it take me like forever to post that? Did I have to be super creative? The AI generated the idea, I modified the idea, then I generated a post, copied it in, changed it up a little bit, and then found a photo of me and my aunt and I just published it just like that. This post is gonna get 1,000 people to see it. Now I'm going to click on the 3 dots. I'm going to press copy link to post. I'm going to click on messaging. I showed Avi to a friend and downloaded right away. Loved it too. Nice, thank you. I'm going to say I just posted this here. You see, I just posted that. You see that? I just posted this on LinkedIn. Try to give it a comment with EvAI and see what it does. So now what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna copy this like this, and I'm going to pop it in this little content thing. So I'm in this little group with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 people. In this little group with 7 people, I'm going to leave comments for these other people. I already left one for Chad. I'm going to leave comments for Andrew. You see that? I already left comment for Chad. I'm going to leave a comment for Carla, for this person here. So the— so I'm in this little LinkedIn group and these people post that they need support. On a particular post. So I'm going to use Evie AI to show these people support. Again, this is not cheating. For those of you that think, oh, it's cheating to leave a comment, uh, if someone sends you the link to leave a comment, no, it's not cheating. This is me building a relationship with Jess, an actual relationship, telling her to embrace— embracing 40 is a very positive. Okay, and I'm going to say congrats on being 40. I'm gonna give a message. Congrats on being 40. 40. Okay, so I just messaged her. Her birthday was on January 11th. You see that? January 11th. That was a few days, 3 days ago her birthday was, and I'm messaging her now because she posted about it. So I'm actually building a relationship. This person over here, four weeks ago, he says blah blah blah on January ten. I'm gonna drop a comment about this, and the AI will then write a decent comment. Excited to see pretty soon spotlighting such expertise. Ta da da da. The episodes are gold mine. Kudos, Andrew Lopez. For curating such valuable content. Okay, I'm gonna say glad to see you in my comments. Okay, I just left him a comment and I created a little post there just like that. I'm gonna give him a little boom here. If it's like an event like this, You know, I'll just give it a little boom. If it's more of like a video, I already left a nice thoughtful comment there with Evie AI. This makes my life so much easier. Then I'll go to like Alex Hormozi's post from 7 minutes ago, and I'll drop a nice thoughtful comment there. I'm gonna use GPT-4 because I want it to be a little more sophisticated, even though it's gonna take a little more time. I don't mind it being a little more sophisticated. Alex, your perspective on reframing sadness is powerful. I'm going to press go. All right, now I'm going to close a couple of these windows over here. As you can see, having conversations, building relationships, looking at doing research on a variety of different people here. See, I open up profiles, I do research on these people. For example, I take a look at, I see, oh look, this person has LinkedIn Premium. She's following me already, so I'm going to send her a message. I'm going to say thanks for following me. Have you been seeing my content? I'm gonna press send. So I just sent her a message. Now I'm gonna go here and I'm gonna drop a comment on her post just like that, see? No one commented on her post, so I'll be the only one that comments. Your insights are spot on, blah, blah, blah. I'm going to press post. You see, this happened a day ago and I'm the only one that recognized her with a comment and a heart. So if you do that for people and you send them messages and you often give them a call, you're much more likely to be successful with what you're doing. All right, I have a question for you. Did you get value in today's LinkedIn Live? If you did, write value in the chat. I'm gonna go spend some time with my kids now, but I had to drop in for a couple of minutes and share some insights with you, show you how I use LinkedIn. Just 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes a day, you can make a huge impact on LinkedIn, on networking, and on building relationships. I'll see you guys next time. Thank you for being here. I'll see you guys next time.
