How to build real community on LinkedIn!

This 90‑minute virtual meeting, hosted by Barbara and attended by a rotating group of LinkedIn‑focused entrepreneurs (including Joe Apfelbaum, Ian, Marlene, B. Randall, Tom, Philip, Gaurav, Sherry, Deb, and others), functions as a weekly accountability and knowledge‑sharing session. Participants each report a recent "win"—ranging from securing podcast interviews, landing a potential client, closing a high‑value list sale, to launching new product features (Evvii AI, Job Tracker, Connections Dashboard). The group exchanges tactical advice on personal versus company page posting, leveraging LinkedIn’s side‑panel and bulk‑import tools, crafting contrarian personas, storytelling without bragging, and using Substack for email list growth. They also discuss offline networking events, community culture (high‑fives, celebrations), and emerging side projects such as a synthetic‑dye database. The session ends with a collective screenshot of high‑fives and a reminder to post wins and links in the community, emphasizing the importance of follow‑up and continuous engagement.

Very good.
Not finished.
Thank you.
That's okay.
That's okay. I mean, you know, sometimes we envision something larger than what we can actually do.
Yes.
So it, it, that's okay because you're, we're still moving forward. I haven't forgotten, but thank you. You're welcome. Awesome. All right, Ian, then Marlene, and then Rick, and then Randall.
Hi, guys.
Yeah.
Lots happening. A lot keeps happening, which is quite good fun. I've been talking to a lady who's friends with and deals with the guy who does all the TED Talk stuff and helps the people getting TED Talks. So I didn't want to approach it last week, but assuming then things go as well as I think they'll go, potentially if anyone wants to get in a TED Talk, yeah, there you go. Joe, maybe, I don't know. Uh, be cool seeing him in the TED Talk. Uh, this lady, we're interacting with her, doing 3 or 4 calls a day, to be fair, building her coaching business stroke She's got— I can't say too much, but she's got an adult business as well that she's heavily known in, but she's more going on the coaching side. So that's going to be really cool. I spoke to a few of the people in the group. I had a call this morning with another lady, but everyone I seem to meet within Heavy AI, or rather not patronizing everyone, everyone's very open to sharing each other's rather than being all, well, let's buy off me. No, we're all a community. We're all 1,000 people here. to help Joe move his, um, vision forward and get a million people in the business. I think that'd be really cool. Uh, but that's that bit. Where did I say I was going to be? Because you're, you're good on what I had. What's my things? And let's see what I've accomplished.
Let me, let me look, let me look.
I should know myself, but then again, that's maybe—
That's okay, that's okay. Um, okay, let's see.
I do have a comment about your post, Ian.
Sorry, go on. Um, you—
I saw you posted, um, from your company page. Just so you know, company pages don't really get out there much. So if you really want to get the most bang for your buck from these types of parties, share a personal page post rather than a company page post, because if you get comments on it, it'll get out there, versus if you get comments on a company page post, nothing's really going to happen. So just FYI.
That's what I was thinking, trying to get the company, trying to get weight. So you'd say more Post more on the personal post, which then people would research you and find your company post.
Correct.
And you could even comment on your post with your company page and stuff, but the company page is not really gonna get into the feed much.
I'll start doing more of that, which is cool. I just sent you your little DM as well, which was funny, your beekeeping thing.
Yeah.
Thanks.
I actually don't see that you made a commitment of where you're gonna be. So tell us where you're gonna be in a week.
So next week where I'm going to be, we're going to have some things built out for this lady's socials by next week. So that'll be cool. And I'll see if she'll let me share anything of what we're doing, which would be nice.
That'd be cool. That'd be cool.
Absolutely.
And I'll get more— I want to get more meetings with people. I'm only about 2 to 3 a day, so I need to get up to 5.
Okay, cool. Awesome, awesome. All right, Marlene, you're next, then Rick, then Randall.
Hello everyone. Well, this week has been a great week. I completed my interview with the Shine a Light group, well, the Healthcare Reinvention Network group. And it was a nice time to have an interview and just have the community know a little more about me. And then yesterday, this was really interesting. I was at a networking event with American College of Healthcare Executives. And this young lady came up to me and she said, Marlene, she said, I know you. She said, I just read an article that you sent out today on LinkedIn. And so it was so interesting that she felt like she knew me from LinkedIn— it was a post, I'm sure— communication. I didn't know her, but that just points out to what Mindy, what you said, and Barbara, what you're— what everybody says, that people are watching and they know who we are. So my focus for next week is going to be really fine-tuning my profile and what the next steps are for engagement for me. Been some great advice from everyone, and I just want to make sure that my message is consistent throughout.
So that's awesome.
Thanks, everyone.
That's awesome. Yeah, so glad that you had that interview. That's really, really cool. That really is helpful when people interview you. So are you going to schedule the next one?
Uh, the— there isn't a next opportunity yet, but I'll continue.
Well, no, look, look for another opportunity, you know, find any kind of opportunity to be interviewed. That's what I'm saying is that we want to get ourself out there, find another opportunity where you— where somebody hosts you.
And thank you.
Do you know of any podcasts that Marlene can get on?
One of the, one of the 99 hacks is if you search your connections for podcast hosts, just search the word podcast hosts, you'll find a lot of people that are hosting podcasts that are currently connected to you, Marlene, and also people that are in second-degree connections.
You can find those people, connect with them, and they'll be more than happy to host you.
They're looking for people.
Great, great idea. Thank you.
Yeah, a lot of people are looking for people to put on their podcast.
So I've been actively doing that. So, yeah.
Good, good, good, good. All right, Rick, you're next, then Randall, and then Tom.
Hi, everybody.
Good morning. You know, we're all in the relationship business, guys, and I love building relationships, and that's what this is all about, building new relationships. And so last night, my wife and I were out at dinner. I attended a board meeting with her, and afterwards we went to dinner, and there was the sun shining through the window in this guy's face. But I thought I knew the guy. I couldn't remember his name. So I looked up on LinkedIn and I said, I think his first name is Don. And I looked him up. Don. There's Don. Oh yeah, that's Don. So I walked up to him and I blocked the sun. I said, you want me to stand right here while you eat dinner? And he started laughing. And of course, I had my New Orleans Saints shirt on, and he's from New Orleans. And his brother was sitting at the table with him. We started talking, we had a great conversation. And anyway, I said, hey, enjoy your meal. I'm gonna go back and sit at my— when I looked, he's a CFO. I'm currently looking for a CFO, and I think he may be a candidate. And I think even if he's not, he knows people. So that was my win for the week is that I just, I got outta my comfort zone to go talk to somebody.
Wow.
I wasn't even sure if I remembered his full name, and it may turn into business for me. So Mindy's right. You never know how it's gonna happen. And this week, this time next week, I hope to have an article written about relationships and how the value, how to value them and how to develop them.
Mm-hmm.
And clarity around, I'm meeting with a big, big potential client, big manufacturing client in East Tennessee on Tuesday. It's down to me and one other firm. Nothing's guaranteed, but I hope to have good news on that front. next week.
That's awesome.
That's awesome.
You know, that's, that's such a key point. You never know who is the next who that you can work with unless you start talking to other people.
Put yourself out there.
Exactly. Just put yourself out there. Talk to people. I mean, that's what this is all about. That's about building relationships. So important and vital. Thank you, Rick. All right, B. Randall. You're next, then Tom, then Philip, and then Jane.
Good morning, everybody. Nice to see you. I want to point out that Chef Kelly changed her emoji picture, and I think we should all congratulate her on that. Um, yeah, I'm stalking.
Okay, you got me.
Great job.
Um, so while, while I don't have anything earth-shattering to announce, um, because I've been going through a, a self-exercise in, in, uh, elevating my, my strategies, um, we talked on Wednesday a lot about adding, um, awareness, uh, content to our posting and as well as, as well as consideration and conversion. Um, I have a a much more comprehensive strategy coming out in the next week. And my goal is sort of by Labor Day to have all this happening. I'm working on more lead magnets. Um, I've had a couple wins with, with client opportunities. And, um, mostly it's about, um, doing a better job at really articulating the why me. Um, if you look at my post today, I'm being more active in explaining what I've done in the past. I want to give kudos to Joe because I was whining to him over the weekend about how I don't like to brag about the things that I've done, and he gave me some techniques on how to talk about the things that I've done in the past without sounding, you know, but while still being humble. And, um, that's really been at the core of what I've been working on.
That's good. We all get to talk about who we are, and there's that line between being somebody who brags And somebody who is, this is who I am. And it's really important for people to be able to see who you are, because people don't know who you are if it's just a page on LinkedIn, really, unless you have the opportunity of really networking with one another.
Yeah, it's, um, I can't tell you how many people have been yelling at me about, um, because I, you know, I've had my share of interesting things and I don't tell anybody because I always feel like it comes across as, as you said, like bragging. And really, like, dude, you gotta tell the world these things. You're just not sharing, you know?
Yeah.
You're hiding. And yeah, to your point, Barbara, for all of us, there's this— it's why words matter, right? Because you can say, you know, like, Again, there's a difference between saying, I did this, and this is what I learned when I did this, right? And they both sort of touch on the same premise, but there's a— they're very different messages. So that's a lot of refinement in my message.
Can I just add something to B. Randall's? Your post today was exactly on point because I learned today that you work with Beyoncé, and I never knew that. And you did it in a beautiful way and talked about your learnings from that. So Just so you know, it's not a boast if it's true.
Well, I appreciate that. And that's sort of what I'm, what I'm working towards because I have a bunch of those types of stories. I've done a lot of those types of things that people would recognize. And, and yes, to, to your point, like, it's an important differentiator. It, it does answer the why me question, but the goal is to do it within that context of this is what I want to be able to share with everybody else so that they can benefit from it. Not so much I'm this and I did that. Um, but I appreciate it, Mindy. Thank you.
I'm, I'm—
I did the same thing with JLo.
Yeah.
Cool.
Okay.
So here's the thing. You know, one of the things that we all love are stories.
Yeah.
And you know, one of the things that would be so cool for you to do is to take us behind the scenes of working with them. You know, giving kind of that, that back of how you thought about helping them promote their brand, because then that really says, hey, look, this is what I've done, but it's a story. And here's the behind the scenes, because it's like, I want to know more.
I appreciate that insight, Barbara. Thank you.
You're welcome.
All right. So, Tom, then Philip, then maybe Jane. Jane, I know you've got to go. Do you mind if Jane goes first? Anyone?
No, she has to wait her turn like the rest of us.
I know she's gotta go, so go ahead, Jane.
Well, thank you, and I did not expect that, but that's very nice of you. Uh, yeah, it's with a gentleman who I've already canceled twice on. It's like, oh, I can't cancel again, and my calendar doesn't recognize this meeting for some reason. So yes, there's something I'm doing wrong. Uh, my win this week was I met a woman from Florida uh, on LinkedIn. She's a New York life agent. We talked once. She introduced me to someone who's here in my town. We just had coffee, and we're probably going to be working together. And I love LinkedIn. It just worked out so well. And B. Randall, what you were talking about, you know, what sounds— the difference in boasting and telling the way it's just a fact, I think, is also when we bring value to the other person. A lot of people will think, well, you know, why is he telling us that? He thinks he's so good. No, that's, that's their That's them feeling small. But when you can give them some value, you know, you have to meet them on their space. I think it helps. But I think that's cool. I think in this group, we're used to that. And look at Joe. Joe talks about what he does all the time. I've never perceived Joe as being arrogant.
He's more like snooty.
I don't see him as snooty.
Anyway, I forgot to say I'm Jane Lehman. I'm in Boerne, Texas. And with LegalShield helping people get affordable access to lawyers, of course. Gaurav, we'll have to finish our conversation sometime, but I'm glad you got over here. So now I have to jump and go talk to somebody else.
Take care.
Good luck. Good luck in your next conversation.
Good luck.
Good luck. All right, Tom, let's pick you up and then we'll do Philip and then Gaurav.
All right.
It's been a great week. Each one of us, you know, I think of what Randall's talking about and trying to talk about what you've done. When you're my age, you just have all these opportunities. You reflect on, oh, I got to do this with this person and that person. And, you know, I love having opportunities and what God turns those things into. I'm fortunate then in the process. So I love it. This week we, we did 2 contracts that were somewhat unexpected. That's great to have that. But the highlight was working with people. We brought on a new team member who's a seasoned interior design book formatter and still works with some companies out of New York. So that raises our bar. We're happy to have her. We have other folks like that with us too. And we spent, my wife and I spent a couple days just kind of pouring into our team members, taking them out to dinner, going to their town, Orlando in particular. We have several in Orlando, so we had to suffer and go to Disney and so forth while we were there. But that was rewarding this week. Next week, you know, we'll probably have another contract, it looks like, coming in. It was a person who I've networked with here, and that's really cool. I love that. And we're going to be nailing down another workshop. We love doing workshops and online workshops, and so we're kind of nailing that down with our next guest and looking forward to pushing that.
That's awesome. That's awesome. Thank you, Tom.
You're welcome.
Philip, then Gaurav, then Deb, then Darren.
Hey, Philip Griffith, PSG Photo Solutions. My win this week is right after this meeting, I'm talking with someone from Switzerland.
Yes.
So I, I'm dealing with people all over the world, not just here in Ohio where I am. And You know, I think that really is a result of being on LinkedIn, having people see me, and, you know, not just posting but commenting on other people's. And because I think you're right, someone else said— Marlene, you were saying people see us whether they comment on our posts or not. They see us and they begin to trust us. So That was a big win. Um, next week I'm actually going on vacation, but before I do, I need to get my September posts ready, scheduled. And, uh, it's also Save Your Photos Month. So I'm gonna be doing some— I haven't really done a LinkedIn Live, but I will do a LinkedIn event.
Well, you're on LinkedIn Live right now, Philip. So just FYI.
Yay!
I, I've got to figure out that LinkedIn Live piece because I think I should be doing that.
Me too. Me too.
And because you're right, Barbara, it's telling the stories. Um, I can't show my clients' photos, but I can tell their stories.
Yes.
And, um, because I can, I can make them anonymous, but telling their stories and how doing their photos and telling their stories impacted their families, because that really is what makes people stop and say, oh, I should do that.
Absolutely.
And maybe if you speak to Tom about the process of writing a book, you can figure out how to tell stories through the process of writing a book, because a photo book would be epic.
Yeah, right. That would be so cool. No, and, and Philip, one of the things that I love about your posts is that when you bring other people in and you have them tell their story of what it was about the pictures and how that has helped their family, I love that you've really brought in this legacy point because legacy starts now.
Mm-hmm.
And why have a mess later for your children who have no idea what the story was? get the story now when it's fresh in our minds for our children and our children's children. I just love that. Yeah, absolutely. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. All right, Gaurav, you're next, then Deb, then Darren, and then Elena.
Thank you so much, Barbara. So I have 3 wins to mention for this week. So we went live with a new feature on our platform called Job Tracker. So this will help job seekers to track their applications, and it will also help us internally to start basically the referral process. This is where I created my platform for, so that was pretty cool. I did 2 events. One was with the recruiters. I interviewed a recruiter, and that was an awesome conversation. We got like around 35 to 40 people online, so that was really cool. I also did one event today. I did get less attendance, but I had the joy of sharing what I do the best, which is helping people find jobs. So I was able to talk to them about job search and all of that. So that was a good feeling. I really like the idea of— somebody mentioned 5 calls a day. I think I'm going to try that because I think that's, that's a good learning. I think, Shay, probably you mentioned it, and I think that's a great idea. So I'll probably take that from here. And next week I'm going to have Joe come and talk to my meetup. So, you know, I'm really excited about it. So for those of you don't know, I run the 2nd largest career network meetup in Australia, and I also looked up, I think it is the 5th largest across the world.
Wow.
So there are 4 bigger than me in terms of job search meetups in the world. So, and I'm growing very fast, so I'm sure I'll probably reach the top 3 soon, you know. So, so excited about that event with Joe next week at the meetup. And then yeah, hopefully I'll be able to convert some clients because end of the day, that is what is going to pay the bills. So yeah, with all these activities and events and LinkedIn and all that, hopefully start converting clients soon. But yeah, that's about it, Barbara. Thank you.
That's awesome. That's awesome.
Wow.
I mean, that, that's phenomenal. What a great week. Thank you for sharing, Deb, and then Darren, then Anne, and then Gary.
So I have 2 things I'm very happy about. I just wrapped up an implementation with the Staff and Company who gave me a really nice review on LinkedIn, which is great. And also there was an influencer that I was commenting on for like 6 months, and they just launched this huge podcast as well as program, and they're asking me to come speak as a leader, not as one of the people who needs them, but as somebody who can teach all of their followers, which is great. They were looking— because I'm a little bit of a rebel. You may not realize this, but it is not usual for project managers to go make their own company. They generally work for other people's companies, especially in technology. And yet here I am. I've got my own company. I've got my own clients. I get to decide which projects I want to work on, which ones I don't. I don't have the situation where I'm told, go implement what sales sold, even if it's impossible, right?
I—
so it's, it's a much more enjoyable experience for me. So those are 2 really huge successes.
That is huge. That is huge. You know, everyone who's already talked, I mean, we should be sending each other love and go every time because it's, it's like it just gets bigger and bigger and bigger as we go along. And it's like, this is so exciting. Exciting to see, and exactly, Deb. You get to call the shots, and that's beautiful.
Oh, and and I'm here, which is also you know.
And you're here, right?
I love that you're here.
I can't always get to this call because it's like eleven o'clock in the morning on a weekday, but I made it. I can't guarantee next week, but I'll try.
Hey, you know what? You know it's one and done here. Next week you're gonna be here. It's intention, right? I'm so thrilled that you're here. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. All right, Darren, and now Anne, and then Gary, and after Gary's gonna be Sherry.
Deborah, we never thought of you as a rebel, by the way.
Okay.
No, come on.
More like rebellious.
Yeah. Uh, let's see, win for this week is, um, the, uh, recommendation prospect has turned to a client. Um, wow, cool. And, uh, next week, 2 things I have to focus on. I, um, I've got to get my dashboard done, and, uh, so I've got an appointment Tuesday or so to, to start that process, and, uh, Secondly, after Joe sent the contrarian persona, he made me realize that the 4 or 5 other personas I had were pretty weak in being descriptive. So I got to upgrade my templates. Thanks, Joe.
Yeah, no, that contrarian persona is gold. Absolutely. Absolutely. And all of us, we, we, we don't want to be vanilla, right? When we're commenting and when we're posting, we don't want to be vanilla. We want to stand out, and that contrarian voice is so important. So yeah, thank you for bringing that up. All right, Anne, you're next, then Gary, then Sherry, then Joe. And yes, and Gary and Sherry does rhyme.
Well, I also have been real excited about, um, just Um, getting on and having some little what we call virtual coffee chats with people here in this group. But I'm, I'm just going to quickly put my link in because I'd love to— what I'm learning about, um, all the people is really exciting, and it's adding my repertoire of where I can refer people out, you know, in, you know, in my, uh, field. And I've also been sharing this group with several people as well, telling them this is not just a posting party, that there's a lot of posting parties and posting groups out there, and was saying, no, this is actually— we come on and we're networking and we're getting to meet each other and we're giving our little spiels. And I said, you know, and all the links that we use are in a post off of LinkedIn, so they're in the school and we can easily go and comment on everybody. But the networking, I just— I'm absolutely loving this. I, I can only come every other week, so I miss it when I'm not here. And, um, but for me, um, a lot is really, really starting to pull together since I've just been getting a little bit more active with LinkedIn. I've just been giving different opportunities to present in some summits and to get my information and stuff out there. And the one of them that I'm doing, um, it actually starts next week. It's a prerecorded summit presentation. It was Self-Sabotage to Self-Leadership. And I did put that link in today's post because next week is when it officially opens. But I'm also on the— they're doing several lives and I'm on the panel, on one of the panels on Tuesday in there as well. So, and it just was so aligned with my brand. I've been— for that to just show up, it's like, oh my gosh. And it was— it's exciting. And tomorrow, and I didn't get the chance to post this because I was busy wrapping up a lot of stuff at the presentation and everything is my The Art of Working Less. Um, it's a free, uh, training, but I'm doing my final encore on Wednesday, and I am going to go post that up in, um, EVAI after this, after it's done on Saturday, uh, because I know my VA will go in, she'll switch the link so the new date shows up so that people can, can sign up. And I'll be posting it again in LinkedIn as well. Um, and that's going to start forming what we call our evergreen, you know, our evergreen, you know, funnel where I can just keep doing it live all the time and people can just be able to, um, attend it and just be able to watch it. And, and that's, um, I know I'm, I'm going through the trainings, but after the last live one that I'm doing on Wednesday night, I can actually concentrate on going in and really paying attention to the EDII, setting it all up. All these tips and stuff that I'm learning, I keep making notes. So hopefully I can go back and understand what my notes say so I can go back in. But everybody has been just so sharing everything on what, how they're using LinkedIn and how it's been helping them out and different things to do. And I, I still don't know how I discovered this. Somehow I did. And, and I'm so glad that I am because I said it's, it's— I had my 20-year anniversary on Facebook and it's goodbye Facebook. You know, it's been goodbye Facebook for quite a while. But now that I'm here and I'm loving, I'm loving the energy and everything much, much better on LinkedIn. You don't have all that petty squabbling. At least I'm not seeing it like you do on, like you do on Facebook.
Yeah.
So I'm very, very glad to be here. So I'm promoting this group and Love building the relationships, and there's a strategy behind. It's not just adding the numbers.
Right.
And I, I've noticed people even outside this group are— just because I'm continuing posting them at least twice a week, we're working our way up to 3 times a week. And there's been people that we've been connecting on my chat that are outside of this group simply because of the strategies and stuff that I'm following on here.
So Very excited that you're here. Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you. All right, Gary, then Sherry, then Joe, then Eugene.
Good morning. So next week I'm heading up to Seattle to a trade show where they're unveiling the new Tesla big freight truck. And there's— so normally, as a recruiter, I do this and I want to meet the top 200 executives that are up there. And I would go through this arduous job of going through emails and getting a 1% return off that. So this time I'm going through— shameless plug for Joe— I'm going through the side panel and it's actually working because I, one, I'm not connected, first connection to a lot of these executives, and two, it gives me the ability to set appointments with them for next week. Since it's a trade show, they don't really have a problem with doing that because they're going to be up there anyway. So it's, um, a bulk thing would work great, Joe, you know, if you get to that with the side panel, but I'm doing it one by one and it's working. So I'm getting a 90% return off that so far compared to half a percent in emails. So it's working very well. I'm very happy with it.
That's really exciting.
I will be very busy next week.
We do have, we do have something that allows you to bulk import to save profiles. Just come to the office hours at 12 and we'll show you how to do that.
Okay, great.
I'll be there.
Perfect.
Beautiful, beautiful. Thank you, Gary. Sherry, you're next, then Joe, then Eugene, and then Elena.
Hi everyone. Sorry I was late, but I just got booked on a podcast.
Yay!
So, you know, it's been Celebration Friday all morning. I was in Celebration Friday with Lynn Schulster's group and And then had that wonderful meeting with one of my most trusted folks. And, um, also got to meet earlier this week in person somebody I met 3 years ago on LinkedIn from California.
Wow.
Haven't messaged or talked or anything in probably 2 and a half years. And he reached out to me last week, um, saying he was going to be in town, and we met up Friday night. So that was awesome to have, you know, real genuine getting-to-know-you conversation. It's always nice when you can meet those people, give them a real hug and handshake and, you know, hang out together. So that was like my wins for this week. And Sunday, I get the opportunity to talk at a Wisdom Wellness Circle about self-care and how we get better sleep and eat and take care of our bodies. So, looking forward to that.
Yay!
And, uh, maybe next Friday.
What will you have accomplished?
What will, what will you have accomplished by next Friday?
Oh, I don't know. Hopefully maybe getting some clients or some interest or some conversations around Sunday. And I've got a lot of conversations next week, so we'll see what comes up next week when it comes up. But I am looking forward to all of my conversations that I'm, I'm having. Got some collaborations possibly in work and, uh, Yeah, so excited about that.
Very exciting, very exciting. All right, Joe, you're next, then Eugene, then Elena.
Hey everybody, um, big win for me is I just had a conversation with a company in South Africa that has over 200,000 customers, and they want to start using Evvii AI internally for their 300 employees. And, um, so the CMO is going to present it to the CEO, and we're gonna have another call next week. So that's really exciting. They want to be able to provide that to their business community in South Africa and all the different places in South Africa. So that was a big win for us because that can definitely bring hundreds of thousands of people in the door. I'm looking forward to hosting the Connections Dashboard party on Monday at 10 AM where everybody can come with their Connections Dashboard. I actually made all of my connections available to all of you. So if you guys want to see my connections, just go into the directory I shared in the chat earlier, and there's a second tab there. And I made a list of all— for all pro members, you can actually see all of my connections. And if you want to connect with anybody that's my connections, feel free to go through it. You can search by title or anything else. I'm also excited about Substack. I'm almost at 100 subscribers to Substack. It's actually much harder than people think to get people to give their email address up on a Substack. But that's— it's exciting to be able to have 100 people. And yeah, journey from 0 to 100. So that's— I put my link to my Substack if you guys want to check it out, but I'm about 80% there. So hopefully over the weekend I'll get to 100, and then I'll present my findings at 4:30 on Monday. So that's what I got, Barbara.
That's beautiful.
Yeah.
Joe, are you gonna be dropping that, uh, replay? Because I have a dental appointment on Monday.
Yeah. Yeah. Yep. I'll make sure the replay's available in the community for sure.
Cool. Thanks.
And Jane is asking, what are the advantages of being on Substack?
I actually, that's what my post is about today. So definitely read my post, my latest post on LinkedIn. I basically cover that step by step, all the advantages, the differences between LinkedIn, how to leverage it and all that stuff. I wrote an article and published it, sent it out to 7,000 people this morning.
Very cool.
Very cool. Thank you. Thank you. Well done.
Joe, where did you post your, your connections? Was that before I got on the call? Like very early in the call?
No, it's, it's— if you just scroll up to the chat, I'll post it again for you guys. You'll see it in a second.
Thanks.
Thank you.
In the chat.
Yeah, I'll post it again now.
All right, Eugene, and then Elena.
Good morning, everybody. Eugene from Las Vegas. Um, interesting week. I went to a similar to a Rick, uh, networking event on Wednesday. And so my today's post was about digital business cards versus traditional business cards because it was a funny— it's just a funny going. Um, but, um, during that meeting, I met a young lady who was a business development for a bank. And so I chair a group called Trust Equity in Las Vegas. So I invited her to the meeting, and by the time we were done with the meeting, she introduced me to the buyer at the bank and one of the buyers at one of the local schools, and these hats made for the kids. So, so that was a kind of a good week. Just reminds you, use people to people. You just can't beat it. Um, for next week, I'll be working on changing my profile from being a recognition guy to a promo guy. So next week I'll have a new, new profile, new target audience, and just kind of just Realized I can— I, I'd rather just switch ships now before it's too late and then go on a new path and just become the promo guy again.
There you go. You know, that, that's what's really cool is that we've got that flexibility, is that depending on where we were, what we are working on, we can create that new identity.
Very cool, very cool.
Well done, Elena. Hello, Barbara.
I love your video. It's fantastic.
Thank you.
So my biggest win for the week, I, I'm actually talking to people. And that happened. I actually don't remember when I was talking to so many people at a time. And the objective for next week to have 5 conversations a day. Hopefully I can make it.
How many would— how many would you say that you had a day this week?
Anywhere from 2 to 5.
That's great.
That's great. Because remember where you started, right? You started with 0, right? And then you started building. That was maybe 1 a day. And now it's like 2 to 5, which is huge. That's where it starts. That's beautiful.
I feel like I broke through the glass ceiling.
Yes, you have, actually. Yes, exactly.
Congratulations.
Yeah, congratulations. So here's what we want to do. We want to celebrate each other. Okay, we're gonna do 1, 2, 3. We're gonna do a high five. Okay, you ready? Or high 10. 1, 2, 3. And we're gonna yell congratulations because You know what? Your brain doesn't know the difference if it's you or anybody else. One, two, three, four, five.
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
Yay!
We did it!
What a week we've had! Now, if we could have taken a picture of everybody high-fiving, that would have been great.
Should we do that? Should we try to do that now?
Yeah, let's do it.
All right, everybody get your high-fives ready. I'll take a screenshot and then I'll post it. One, two. I think I got it.
I think we got it. That's a poster. That's a keeper.
Oh my God, that's such a good post.
Yes, yes. I mean, it's really quite fantastic. All the things that everybody's doing. That's so cool. So cool. Joe, do you have a question?
I don't, but when I raised my hand, it automatically raised— I'm gonna lower my own hand. When I went like this, it automatically raised my hand.
I love it.
I love it. Are there any questions that anybody has or anything else that you would like to celebrate? Um, would love to hear. Wait a minute, where is Chef Kelly? That's right. Where did Chef Kelly go?
Hiding behind her emoji as usual.
I'm sure she's cooking up something for us. Murray wasn't here, so I had to.
Yeah, there you go. Anything, anything, any questions, any comments that you want to raise?
Chef Kelly came off mute.
We want to hear Chef Kelly.
I don't know that she's here. She is. There she is.
While Chef Kelly goes, I just shared a link in the chat with our photo with our hands up, and I asked if you guys can share your wins in the community. So Click on that link if you can, like it, share your wins, and then after you can take that photo, download it, and post it on LinkedIn and tag us.
Cool.
Cheers, Joe.
All right, Chef Kelly, you go. You go, girl. You're still on mute. We cannot hear you.
Just move those lips.
Move those lips.
How about now?
How about now?
How about now?
Yay!
So, um, you guys, some of you heard about this. I am shoulder deep in this, um, database that I'm building for the food community. It is a synthetic dye to natural dye database. Um, it's coming along. I think I'll be able to start my beta next week. So I've been reaching out to some of you who've been on my list for a long time that I really wanted to talk to but didn't really know exactly about what yet. So, um, Wish me luck. This could be kind of a breakthrough technology for me. So we'll see. We'll see.
I think this is huge. I think this is huge. It's a conversation that needs to be had, you know, from both, from both, from all angles, from all angles.
And, you know, I mean, the mandate hasn't happened yet, but the suggestion is by the end of 2027. And I'm sure by then there will be fines and mandates if people don't comply. So the sooner they can get the information on where to source the ingredients, The better.
Oh, absolutely, absolutely, 100%. Anything else on this fantastic Friday?
Uh, I just had somebody, uh, buy the Inc. 5000 list from me. One person. Yeah, so he paid $2,000 for the list. Somebody else, he's like, I don't want Evie, I don't want anything, I just want the list. Can I just buy it? I said, yeah, it's $2,000, and he bought it. And another guy hired me for $125,000 to target the list to help him be able to raise $5 million. So the guy basically said yes to that deal that came from LinkedIn directly. So I was like, I'm like, oh my God, that list is such a, such a valuable, valuable list, the Inc. 5000 list.
That is so cool.
That is so cool.
Yeah, Barbara, I have one thing. Sherry, I wrote you a private message there. I hope you saw it. Where? In the chat?
In Lincoln?
It's not private anymore, dude.
In the chat. There.
Did you find it, Sherry?
I'm looking.
Alright, everybody. I wish everyone a great weekend. And, um, Jane, I hope you had a good call and, uh, see everybody soon.
Yeah.
Bye, everyone.
Thank you.
So glad you were here.
Great job, Barbara.
See you, everybody.
Bye, everybody.
Sherry, yes, we can.
Okay, good. Yes, Jane, we can. Okay, bye.
Do we mind coming back in?
So there we are.
That was an incredible session that we had.
I'm so grateful that we were able to do that session.
And now we can continue to get the work done. You see, the fortune is in the follow-up. Most people show up and throw up, but they never follow up. So let me just see, um, now that we're still live here and we finished that session, let me just see what's cooking over here.
I'm gonna have to hop in a couple minutes. Ooh, look at, look at, uh, um, Jeff here.
Did you guys like that party that we just had?
Isn't that incredible? Oh, I love this. I love this so much. Let me go ahead and share that. And do you see the way I'm going to take a template from here on the side? I have a template. I'm going to remove this template. Um, I have a template over here called Substack. So I'm going to go here. I'm going to drop my Substack link in here. So I dropped a link to my YouTube video, and then under my link to my YouTube video, I dropped a link to my Substack. You see, that is some powerful jazz. Some powerful jazz. Okay, let's see what else is going on here. By the way, if you're watching this live right now and you're enjoying this, say I'm watching it live I'm gonna go check to see if anybody's actually watching this live right now. Anybody's commenting? Let's see. Oh, Robert Stern, hey! I tried to call you the other day. How do you open the garage door? Um, there's a button to open the door on the side of the garage door. There's a button.
Yeah, what? That's the light button.
Right on top of the light button.
You push that once and the door opens. Harris, I got it, come on! But yeah, that's what's cooking over here. Let's just see what's going on here. So these people over here are sharing their links. So I'm gonna go ahead and share my link. Let's just see what happens over here. Okay, so I have my latest link, which is my LinkedIn Live. I'm gonna go ahead and copy this link, paste it in here just to see what it looks like. Copy that. I'm going to close that, and I'm going to paste it in here. I'll delete this extra thing. Ctrl+C, and I'm going to paste this here. I'm going to paste this here. Um, now this guy here, let me try to see if I can call him. Pull up his company. Let's see if his phone number is anywhere here. Yeah, I can't find his phone number anywhere, but I will find his phone number. I want to give him a buzz. Looking for that phone number. All right, let's see what else is going on over here. Now, if I wanna leave comments like this, check this out. I go in here and I could drop this comment in like that. See, I have a little comment I can share.
See, I can use this as a comment. I can use comments.
You see, Grunt Insights here. I'm going to turn this off here. That's the idea. Let's see what Thomas said. Thomas, I really appreciate it. I will take a serious look at this. I'm gonna go here. I'm gonna say it was really good to see you today. I'm gonna put that in there just like that. You see that? Let's see who George is. George is based in Peru. Let's see if I can message him. And I'm gonna say, it was really nice to see you leave a comment on my post today. Hope you're doing well. Okay, I'm gonna send him that. See what goes on here. Oh, that's cute. Hang on one second.
