How to find the right prospects with artificial intelligence

In this premium live training, Joe Apfelbaum walks Evvy AI members through a systematic, AI‑enhanced approach to prospecting on LinkedIn. He introduces a custom Target‑Market Finder that breaks U.S. states into 340 markets and sub‑markets, showing how to evaluate population, income, spend appetite and ticket size to pick tight niches. He then demonstrates how to translate that market definition into precise LinkedIn searches—using company, people, post, group and Sales Navigator filters—to avoid the generic “spray‑and‑pray” approach. The session showcases Evvy AI’s chatbot, which can perform web searches, generate lists of companies (e.g., waterproofing firms in a specific county), clean URLs, and retrieve contact details from a 280‑million‑record database. Joe illustrates the workflow of finding a domain, pulling its employee roster, and crafting personalized outreach messages based on the “5 I’s” (Information, Introduction, Invitation, Ideas, Identity). He also shows how to leverage LinkedIn groups, filter for first‑degree connections, and combine group data with Sales Navigator to target a manageable subset of prospects. Throughout, participants ask questions, share use‑cases, and receive live demos. The webinar ends with product announcements (new features, office‑hour sessions, a goal to onboard 100 new clients) and a call‑to‑action to use the tools, join community resources, and apply the demonstrated prospect‑building methodology.

So excited you guys are here. This is our premium bonus training for those of you that are premium members of Evy AI.
Good morning.
And you want to learn how to do things within LinkedIn that will help you generate revenue. I'm here to help you be able to learn how to leverage LinkedIn properly using search. There's a lot of Amazing things that we're going to be talking about today. So hopefully you guys are tuned in, ready to take some notes. Hopefully you guys also have drank some water because a 5% drop in hydration is a 30% drop in energy. And most people don't have a list of companies that they want to target properly. So let us know where in the world you're dialing in from, and we're going to get the party started. So first of all, I want to show you guys something interesting that I built this morning. This is a little tool that I'm going to give you guys all access to that you can play with later, where you can browse the 340 markets in the United States. So if you're targeting people in the United States, and by the way, if you want this tool, I put it in the chat for you guys. I'm also going to put it inside our community. So inside our community, we have a special section called Classroom. We have library, and then we have special links. I'm actually going to add this as a special link on the bottom over here. Link number 68, target market finder. I'm going to go here. I'm going to press save. And now link number 67 in here is available for you guys. So the question is, what is, what is this all about? If you want to figure out If you want to figure out the best target market to pick in the United States, there are different factors you need to look at. You need to look at population, medium income. You need to look at population, medium income, if it's a market or a submarket. And you can take a look at all the different markets and submarkets in the United States over here. And click on any of them and really break down what the submarkets are within the markets, if they're micro or if they're a little bit larger. And this explains all the opportunities over here. So you could find out opportunities to serve local niches and see why you want to target them. Some of them have to do with the size of the client pool. Some of them have to do with the spend appetite. Some of them have to do with the ticket value, the growth, And so on. So if you go into our community, link number 67, you can access this. I'll also put it in the chat for everybody here so you guys can grab it. And then you could look at this and play with it. And you can see all the different opportunities there are for each target market here. I did a lot of research on this and put all this together. And as you can see, you have population figures for each state, and then for how many markets, viable markets within each state. So for example, I was talking to Joel the other day and Joel said he wanted to target chemical companies in New Jersey. So I was thinking to myself, it's not just chemical companies in New Jersey, it's chemical companies in each individual location within New Jersey. And if you take a look at New Jersey and break it down, there's 16 viable markets inside New Jersey that he could target. And so that means that he can create 16 separate keywords to look for companies Within New Jersey and break it down in a way that makes sense for him. By the way, if this makes sense, put a dollar sign in the chat. Barbara said I'm fading in and out. Okay. Is this a little bit better if I bring the mic closer to my mouth? Let me see if I can bring the mic a little bit closer. I'm having some mic issues. I'm going to look into this, into this mic issue, but Zoom changed its settings and it wants me to, I don't know. Anyway, let's Looking through this, you'll be able to understand. So I really want people to pick a very, very tight target market. And when you're searching through LinkedIn, if I'm going to go through LinkedIn, I'm going to do a search. I'm going to search, for example, chemical companies. I'm not really going to get a lot of chemical companies if I search chemical companies. You see that? It's just going to search for people, for posts. And if I search companies over here, it's not going to really give me all the chemical companies that I'm looking for. You see that? Now I can search through this and say, okay, find me chemical companies. I also don't know their websites. I don't know their phone numbers. And it just gave me 3 chemical companies. This is not helpful. Now there are other filters here. They added a bunch of filters, locations, industry, company size, and so on. But these are again, not very helpful if you're really going deep. Tammy said there's a little bit of a reverb thing. Let me put on my headphones and see. See if this is better. Is it better while I'm wearing my headphones so that the audio doesn't come through into the mic from my headphones? I don't know, but you sound good now. Okay. I sound much better now. Okay. So it's funny that when I'm wearing my headphones, I actually sound better. That's wonderful. Um, there are many ways to be able to search on LinkedIn and there are many ways to be able to search on Google. The key is to take the time. I'm going to stop sharing my screen for a second. The key is to take the time to be very thoughtful with how you're researching and the lists that you're building for companies that you're targeting. Because most people, they don't take the time to really build out a solid list of companies that they want to go after. They're just very focused on spraying and praying and hoping for the best. And I think being very intentional with with which companies you're going after will make it much more likely for you to be able to get into the companies that you wanna go after. For example, I was having a conversation with Alan yesterday about fintech. We were in the car, it was 9:30 PM, I was driving back from Manhattan. I gave him a call just to check in, see how he's doing, see what's going on. He's like, I was thinking about calling you. I was like, this is what happens. When you think about calling me, I call you first. And Alan's over here and we're having a conversation. If Alan had a list of the fintech companies he wanted to go after, he'd be able to find them on LinkedIn, but more importantly, find them within Evvy AI to see each person that works at that company. So I want you guys to try this today. Find a company that you want to go after. So let's say, for example, we're going to open up Evvy AI. We're going to go to the web app. And then we're going to start chatting with the chatbot. Now the chatbot has a new feature. The chatbot now can create images and the chatbot now can search the internet. Do you guys see it says search on the bottom left? So if I click on search and I use the target market finder to find a specific target market, like for example, waterproofing companies, you see, I can say, make me a list of waterproofing companies and then pick the demographic that I want. In Loudoun County, Virginia, in Northern Virginia. You see that? I can actually break down the exact county that I'm looking for, and then Evvy AI's AI agent can go find you those companies. You guys get what I'm saying? So we can actually go off on the internet and search for those companies. So I'm going to say waterproofing companies. I'm going to say, search the internet and make me a list of 3 waterproofing companies. that I can reach out to today for digital marketing services. Okay. And what I'm going to do now is pick the location, focus on Elizabeth, New Jersey. Okay. And I'm going to press send. And what this is going to do is it's actually going to search the web. Now this has the capability of actually searching within the Evvii database as well. We have 280 million emails and phone numbers. Inside our database, which is tens of millions of companies. But what this is going to do is it's actually going to search the web for me and find me specific companies with phone numbers, addresses, notes of why they would be ideal for me. Now, what I could do is I can select this— I could select this domain name, and then I can research this domain name more. I could research it by going to it. Or I can go ahead and go into Evy AI, click on find prospects, and then paste in the domain in here to kind of see who works at the company. You guys see what I'm doing over here? Now, what you want to do is you want to do one thing at a time, because often we're trying to get everything. We're like, oh, I want the list of all the restaurants. I want everything. Or if you want to use Apollo to like help you find something, you're going to make a list and you're gonna get hundreds and hundreds of results over here. You know, like I'm looking for a list and all of a sudden I got 4,000 results. And then I'm gonna export the spreadsheet with the 4,000 results. And what am I, how's that gonna help me? I'm gonna say, okay, give me all 4,000 people, hit apply, and then export this list of 4,000 people. You see, I'm gonna go ahead and export all these people. So now I have a list of 4,000 people. Gee whiz. I'm not gonna be able to go through all 4,000 people. It's gonna get really frustrating for me. So I like the Evy AI approach where we're kind of taking it slow and going one company at a time. So if I wanna see who works at GoDaddy, I can focus on that specific company, do research on them, and find the right people within the company that I can focus on and then do AI research on them using these agents. So if I say, okay, the senior manager at GoDaddy, that's the person I wanna talk to. in New York City, I can then research this person and go meet this person in New York City. I can use the AI agent to find this person, tell me everything there is to know about this person, get their email address and phone number, and then build a relationship with them in a meaningful way. And that can turn into a $100 million opportunity. But if you're just spraying and praying and going after everybody at once, hoping that somebody will answer— hope is a great thing, it's just not a very great strategy. So there are many different ways to filter searches within LinkedIn. If you search for anything, like for example, you could search through posts. So I'm going to go in here and I'm going to say, I need a web designer. And if I search, I need a web designer, I can click on posts and I could see anybody that wrote the words, I need a web designer. You see that? Calling all freelance web designers. A friend of mine is looking for a technical designer. You see that? People are actually looking for web designers and you can filter for the last, let's say 24 hours of people searching for this. You could also filter by content type, videos, images, live videos, documents. You could search from specific members or specific date ranges, or you can sort it by latest or top match. Or there's even more things over here, but you can search through your own stuff posted by me. By company, author, and so on. There's many different ways to search, but then there's lots of different searches. There's searching for people, searching for jobs, searching for groups, searching for courses, events. You see that? So I could search for groups and I can find web designer groups. So if I'm targeting web designers, I could find groups of web designers. So for example, I have this group right over here has 82,000 web designers. You see that? Freelance web designers and web developers. So I click on join and now I can, I joined this group. I could continue to group and then I can click on show all here on the top right. And I could look through these 82,000 web designers. You see that? Now the crazy thing about this is if you happen to have Google Sales Navigator, which I have, I can move into Sales Navigator now. And within Sales Navigator, they have a filter that allows you to filter for groups. You see? So if I'm part of a group, I can say, show me all the people inside that group. But then I have the 24 different search filters within Sales Navigator as well. So I can see which one of these 82,000 web designers actually posted on LinkedIn. You see? So now I just filtered that group with people that posted on LinkedIn. And then I want to say, okay, well show me the people that are actually connected to me. And now out of the 82,000, there are 12 that connected to me. You see that? So what I can do is I can actually message these 12 people. I see that you're in the web designer group inside LinkedIn. I'm curious to know, do you actually design websites still? You see that? I'm going to send this guy a message. I'm going to send this guy a message. I'm going to send this guy a message. Now, why am I sending these people this message? Hmm. Because I want to build a relationship, but I'm building a relationship based on, uh, based on the fact that they're inside a group. I did my research. I know that they're inside a specific group and they're my first-degree connections. So you can send unlimited DMs to people in your first-degree connections. Did you guys know that? I didn't. So it becomes really, really easy to connect with people, build relationships with them. Now I'm asking them a simple question. If they design websites, most of these people are not going to say, no, I don't design websites. And then what I'm going to say is, oh, I design websites. If you know anybody that needs a website, I'm happy to design their website for them. I'm actually happy to design it for free for them. I don't charge anything to design websites now, and I could design it with my technology. Would you like to see the way I design websites for free? And then I have a conversation with them and build a relationship with them. That's the idea. Do you guys get what I'm doing here? You get what I'm— what the relationships that I'm building with people and how I'm doing it. So searching through groups is powerful. Searching through Evvy AI is powerful. Using the AI chatbot, by the way, we're giving away unlimited access to the AI chatbot to any of your connections. So this is a limited time only. That means they could do web search, create images, be able to search through our list of 280 million people unlimited, be able to create posts, comments, messages, whatever they want with the chatbot, both in the side panel extension And also on the web app, and it works on every phone as well. So I want you guys to consider that when you're reaching out to your prospects, you can say, hey, I just found a chatbot that gives you unlimited usage. Claude knocks you off after you chat with it 20 times with the highest model. Same thing with ChatGPT. They knock you off, but we let you use it as much as you want. And we remember everything you do and we know who you are. The chatbot knows who you are as well. It knows your first name. Ask it, say, do you know my first, last name? Do you know my cell phone number? Do you know my email address? Do you know my LinkedIn? It knows everything, which is cool. If you ask ChatGPT, do you know my email address? It's gonna say no, unless you trained it to know your email address. Chances are it's gonna say no. By us, by default, we know your email and your website and all your stuff. So the idea is go out there and add value to other people. Send them messages, let them know what you're doing. Let them know what tools you're using. Every time I find a new tool, I tell my top connections, hey, I found the new tool. Do you want me to share it with you? That's one of the 5 I's. It's called information. You guys know the 5 I's? Information, introduction, invitation, ideas, identity. Those are the 5 I's we talk about in our trainings. And we show you examples on those 5 I's. And so building a list for yourself is really important. I actually created a A poll today in honor of what we're doing over here. I made a poll. You guys know what a LinkedIn poll is? I do a poll every single week. And this poll that I'm doing right over here asks you, if you're looking to build a list, vote and let me know what type of list you're looking to build. So I'm gonna put a link to the poll in the chat. Now, the poll that I have over here, When I copy the link from here, Ctrl+C, copy the link, the problem is it has UTM tags. So I go to the chatbot and I tell the chatbot over here to remove the UTM tag. You see, I'm going to click on it right over here. For some reason it's not loading here. I'm going to close the extension and reopen it. For whatever reason it doesn't load, you just close, reopen. I'm going to click on the history, remove you. Okay. Do you see it says, please remove the UTM tag from this post? And it went and removed the UTM tag. So I'm going to send you a version of that. It's like the cleaner built into it. You get what I'm saying? The URL cleaner. So you can paste any link from LinkedIn into the chatbot and say, hey, remove the UTM tag. And then it just removes the UTM tag for you. And it gives you a clean version of the same link. So take a moment and go into this post right now and like it or give it a light bulb. You see, I just gave my own post a light bulb. Leave a comment on it, vote on it. And in the post, what you can do is you can say, I'm looking to target X person in X location. And then I'll go ahead for the people that went ahead and put in a very specific location, Um, so for example, Ryan Spears says, awesome, Joe, looking for law firms that go to trial most, um, most of the country. Do you have a specific practice area that you want to focus on and a specific geographic location that you want to start with? Because getting all lawyers in the whole country is like a big deal. But if you focus on, let's just say, a specific city and a specific practice area, like bankruptcy law firms, In New York City, I can make you a list of 100 companies that you can focus on. You guys see what I'm saying? Nathaniel said, great work. I love to change how to target, to shift from targeting people to targeting blah blah blah. Yes, that's a great shift. Okay, Charlene says, thanks so much. My target are publicly traded companies. In the UK, Australia, the market cap of $100 million to $3 billion. Okay. So this is what I'm going to do for her. I'm going to go to Sales Navigator. I'm going to click on account over here on the left side. You can click on see all filters and there's annual revenue, company headcount, growth, location, industry, followers, department, fortune. You guys see that? You have all this information for leads. You do have company type. So we could do publicly traded company. You guys see that? You could do geography. I'm going to click on geography here. So she wanted Australia, Australia. So it's showing me all the publicly traded companies in Australia. You see that? I'm going to remove first-degree connections. And there's over a million people in publicly traded companies in Australia. So I'm going to go back to her, see what she wrote over here. Let's see what she wrote. She wrote publicly traded companies in the UK and Australia with a market cap of $100 million to $3 billion and their CEO, CFO. Okay. So we're going to do CEO and CFO. So you guys see that? I'm going to click here. I'm going to click on job title. CEO, CFO, and then I'm gonna say what else she said, market cap. So I'm going to see if they have a— there's no market cap situation over here. So instead what I could do is I can go to my chatbot, click on web search, and Can you make me a list of publicly traded companies in Australia that have a market cap between $100 million and $1 billion? I just need a list of domains, please. Let's just see what it does. Isn't that interesting of what I'm doing right over here in real time for you guys and showing you how I do this, how I build these lists? Now for chief executive officers and chief financial officers, there's 85,000 people here. 85,800, no, 8,500 CFOs and CEOs. It's too many for me to even target. It's a lot, right? But it's very, very clear what she's doing over here and who they are, who the people are. But I want a specific list of domains that I could focus on. And that's the idea. Getting the list of domains is going to be the key. And so Evie AI does all the research and it finds all the domains. You see, here's a list of domains. Now I can go in here, copy this domain. I can go into Evie AI under network and find prospects. And I could say, well, if you go through this domain, tell me the people that work there. You see that? Or what I can do is I can say, tell me anyone with a role of CEO at this company, and it'll look through the company and see if it could find anyone that has a CEO. And look at that, it found the CEO in the company. The chatbot found it. So I have one chatbot on the side doing research, and I have another chatbot finding me the people within Evvii AI. There are 2 chatbots interacting with each other. Put a dollar sign in the chat if this was super valuable, what I just did. You're like, oh my goodness. Put a dollar sign in the chat. So I'm going to go here, copy this. I'm going to put it into the comment here. And I'm going to tell her, I'm going to say, you can use our prospect finder to tell you Who works within each one of these companies and tell you the names of the CFOs and the CEOs right within our chatbot in Evy AI. Go watch my recent video and it shows you exactly how I do it. Okay. I'm going to use Evy AI to type it up. I'm going to say, you can find exactly all the people that work there by going to Network and find prospects, and you can use Evie AI to help you be able to put it all together and tell you all the CEOs and CFOs at those companies. Okay, I'm going to press insert. I'm going to fix. Let's see. Okay, I'm going to press send. Do you see the way I used Evie AI to type up what I wanted to say when my other one failed? My Other voice agent failed. Okay, so it typed it up and I gave it to him. I'm going to refresh this page just to see if you guys commented on this page at all. Let's see how many people actually voted. Okay, not everybody voted here, which is fine. All right, we're going to wrap up, but I want to take questions before we wrap up from the community. First of all, Jane, what did you see? What did you see that I showed you guys just now? You sound like a robot to me.
Can't hear you yet.
Yeah, we can't hear you, Jane. You're having an issue with your mic, Jane, so I'm going to mute you for now and then we'll figure it out after. You can put into the chat instead. Alan, what did you see? Thank you.
Yeah, yeah. This is, this is, you know, you're doing a lot of what I've been doing. And first of all, I can say it works for everybody on the call if they haven't done this before by pinpointing an exact company and really refining who you're going after and why. It allows you to— maybe I should speak from my own perspective. What it's done is it's allowed me to be able to reach out to that person and say exactly, I see what you do. Here's what I do. We overlap on those things. I think we could add value to each other. Right? And so my message when I'm reaching out to them, I get whatever, 275 characters in an engagement request, you know, to connect, can be really pinpointed in that way. I'm getting really good response. I mean, I'd say 50% say yes, which, you know, in the cold calling world, if you're getting 1%, you're doing pretty good. So yeah, by refining and then also, you know, Joe's point about if you've got a group that's 1,000 people, that's just too big to manage, right? Like even if that may be your full target market, If I can break it down and say, okay, I'm only going to focus on not just Bay Area, not just San Francisco, but Eastern San Francisco. And if there's 60 of those, at least that's a pool I can manage. And once I've worked through those, then expand and keep expanding gradually, right? That would be another technique to throw in there. So thanks, Joe.
Awesome. Thank you very much. I hope you guys got value from this.
You're muted now.
I hope you guys got value from this. Thank you, Alan, for the kind words and for saying that it works and that you're using it, which is awesome. Richard says, I have to leave to another meeting. Will you send the link to the replay? Yeah, we're going to put the replay inside the community. So I just want to let everybody know that I appreciate you guys. I have to go to the city now to go talk for a group called the Executives Association. Then I'm speaking for another group called the Strategic Forum because I was featured in a book that the that the founder made. I have a chapter inside the book. And so I just wanna say thank you all for being clients of Evvy AI and for showing up today. And I hope that you got a little bit of value and you learned a technique to be able to find your ideal client, whether it's through groups, whether it's through the new chatbot feature that we have the search within it, whether it's through using Find Prospects to look at domains and who works within those companies. Let your world know that we have this available because they can sign up without a credit card now, try it out, test it out, use it. If they like it and they want to get it for their team and they want to get training and all that, we offer competitive deals available right now within Evvii AI. And we're only really looking for an additional 100 clients this year. We have the next 6 months to work on this. And so we want to go deep with 100 companies. We might get there in the next 3 months, but we really want to focus on going deep with people instead of going wide. That's our mission. That's always been our mission.
