How to invite people to an in person event with Linkedin

In this live YouTube session, Joe Apfelbaum conducts a reverse cold call with Greg Garcia to showcase Evvy (also called Evvii) AI, a browser‑based assistant that augments LinkedIn prospecting. The demo walks through real‑time profile lookup, AI‑generated comments, posts, and voicemail scripts, illustrating how the tool can save profiles, generate personalized outreach, and train sales teams. Pricing is discussed, including a free trial with no credit‑card requirement, a $3,000 per‑person training add‑on, and a referral commission model. The conversation also covers technical decisions (moving from Firebase to MongoDB, dropping AWS/Google Cloud), integrations with Calendly, Sales Navigator, Apollo, and Nooks, and a promotional rap for an upcoming Orlando in‑person event. Joe then builds an automated workflow that captures SMS replies, validates email addresses, tags contacts, and registers attendees for the event, highlighting the platform’s automation capabilities. Throughout, the tone is enthusiastic, informal, and sales‑focused, with occasional poetic interludes.
Chapters
me up, I look them up on LinkedIn, and then I check out what they're up to. I see their first name, their last name, their company name. I see where they work. I see how many followers they have. You have 7,401 followers.
Yeah.
And you reposted something 3 months ago. You posted something too about cloud computing or whatever, but you're not really leveraging LinkedIn properly. And I built an artificial intelligence assistant that sits on your browser. And it helps you be able to properly use LinkedIn in a meaningful way. So if you want to leave comments on a post, yeah, you could easily leave comments on posts. I also have the ability to save your profile into a list like I'm doing right now called Conversation 2026 because you called me. Then I can deploy an AI agent that will research you all over the internet. So right now it says you're the founding account executive at Pump.co, specializing in sales and partnerships and cloud cost optimization with over 7 years in tech and sales. I see that you target founders, engineer, engineering, uh, leaders, startups using AWS and GCP, primarily those—
Yeah.
Growing cloud bills, seeking over 20 to 60% savings without engineering effort. You offer AI-driven cloud expense arbitrage, blah, blah, blah. There's a Calendly link over here at calendly.com/gregpump/30minutes.
Yeah.
I see your LinkedIn page. I see your company page. I see that you ate 32 tacos in Mexico City.
Holy shit, I forgot about that.
Dude, I see everything about you from a retired backyard chicken farmer to back—
holy cow—
and excelling in building talent pipelines through HireDays. You've 4W'd you as Costco of cloud. So like, I get you, I'm with you. I know exactly, I know exactly who you are and what you're up to. Yeah, click of a button. And you, you don't know a lot about me yet.
Not as much as you. Geez, you're, uh, you're reverse cold call, but with, with, um, with Evie AI.
I well know. Dude, reverse cold call you. That is an amazing term. That is an amazing term. I love it. I love it. Yeah.
So, yes, sir.
So for me, I love building real relationships with people and getting to know them. So someone like you, how many account executives do you currently have? Or is it just you?
Uh, no, we, we, we've grown. So we've got, uh, maybe 10.
Okay. 10. Amazing. So could you imagine if every single account executive that you had at their fingertips had the capabilities that I just had just now? And when they're calling somebody, they could lead the call and lead it to wherever they want based on them knowing everything about the person and building a real relationship with the person to actually go deep and get their business. You know, whether it's Tenzin or Kiki or Paul or Kate or Davin or anyone that's gonna be using it.
Yeah.
Those are the people that need to learn. Even if Hale Brown is using it, he can learn how to properly do these things. Imagine Tobin Phillips get on the phone with someone and all of a sudden, boom, he clicks a button and knows everything about the person using AI research and then is able to take notes, right? Without even leaving the browser, it's able to leave comments on people's posts. Like if I wanna leave a comment on your post, I just click one button just like that. I click one button and all of a sudden, boom, your posts show up. And then I click a keyboard shortcut. No one commented on your post from 3 months ago, so I'm gonna go ahead and be the only one that actually leaves a comment. Instead of me figuring out what to say, my whole AI will just write the whole thing up in a second. And I can decide the, the persona that I want to use. Um, right now I'm, I'm, I had this DM thing going on my persona, so like wrote up a whole persona related to like a bunch of 5 different options. But I'm, I'm gonna generate a, uh, a comment on your post. That's a thoughtful comment. And then I can tag you on the post.
Okay.
So you get notified, you know, like when you tag somebody on a post, they get notified.
Yep.
So I just tagged you on the post. So you're gonna get a notification on LinkedIn, often even an email saying, hey, Joe just commented on your post from 3 months ago. Now the beauty is Evvy AI writes your content for you in your voice. as often as you like. So you could start posting every day and those 7,400 people that you're connecting to will see you more often. Because a post expires after 24 hours. It doesn't show up on the feed. If you go to the feed on LinkedIn, you see stuff from 3 hours ago, 6 hours ago, whatever. You don't see stuff from 3 months ago. So you wanna make sure that you're posting once a day and then all your account executives are posting once a day on LinkedIn. And with Evvii AI, it's 10 seconds to post because you never have to leave LinkedIn. It just generates the post right inside LinkedIn for you. And it complies with LinkedIn's terms as well. So we, we had LinkedIn's lawyer look at our stuff because we're outside of LinkedIn. We're not in LinkedIn, but we're compatible with it. We comply with their terms.
Yeah, no, that, that all sounds interesting. I'll, no, I'll take a look. Um, and you know, I'd be doing a disservice if I didn't ask you, you know, you read my punchline, but are you, are you using AWS or Google Cloud building Evvii or, or, or no?
We're not using AWS and we're moving away from Google Cloud.
What are you going to?
Uh, for the backend, instead of using Firebase, we're gonna be using MongoDB. Are you familiar with that?
Yes. Yes. MongoDB. Nice.
Yeah.
So we're not—
we're using it a lot. Well, yeah, we, I know more than the average person about this stuff. I'm also vibe coding a lot.
Yeah.
Um, but I do have an AWS account. I just don't have any charges on it.
Yeah.
Because I'm not really using it.
Hmm. Okay.
Yeah.
I mean, if, if you're spending like in the thousands per month on like AWS, Google, or Azure, would be happy to chat about that.
But maybe after you become a client, I'll be spending in the thousands per month because you're gonna be so big with us. Who's, who's your ideal? Like who, who you currently work with?
Well, that sounds expensive. That, that sounds expensive if we're gonna cost thousands a month.
Yeah.
It's because of the referrals you're gonna make. You're gonna end up making referrals. That's why it's, we, our, our pricing is not expensive at all. Like, To get your whole team on to train them how to use LinkedIn and everything. It's not expensive at all.
Like we'll, we'll, uh, how, how about, well, we, you know, we could up it very quickly, but how about one person free trial? Get it going. Let's see how it works.
Oh, absolutely. You can have all your people use it as a free trial, not one person. We, we have no credit card required. You could log in, generate posts, try it out. Um, you know, 100%, there's no, there's absolutely no credit card required to use Evvy AI. You could test it out, see if you like it. And if you like it, you know, and you want to actually train your team, the real, the real, the real value is not using the tool, it's getting the training on how to use the tool. You know, it's not the size of your weapon that matters, it's how you use your weapon. You know what I mean? So, so the idea is me teaching your team how to use the weapon on a regular basis and meeting with them even weekly just to hold them accountable. It could be a 15-minute meeting just to kind of say, guys, Let's see what you guys did. And you have your 10 account executives there and they're like, yeah, we didn't do anything. All right, well, we're gonna meet in a week and all of you should have posted daily between now and then and connected with at least 20 of your top accounts and left comments with the right people and blah blah. Do you pay for their Sales Nav right now or no?
Yeah, we have, we do.
And we give you a 6-hour training included in that on how to use Sales Nav, like every little nook and cranny of Sales Nav. So we'll give you guys that as a bonus. There's no extra charge for that. We usually charge $3,000 per person for that, I'll throw it in if you pay for the tool. But in terms of like the trial to test it out, there's no cost or anything, no credit card required. So I'd be— I'd also be happy to kind of just do a demo for you and just kind of share my Zoom, show you how it works. If you closed one new deal, you'd probably make like $20K or $30K off it, right?
Potentially.
Yeah. So if you close one new deal and you made $30K off it, that pays for the year for your entire team plus, plus, plus. Like, and we can get started at a very low price. So there's, it's very affordable for you, but the goal is to get you to generate at least $100,000 per rep per year. That would be nice if they're using LinkedIn properly and they're having conversations like, like a mensch, you know, not like a— by the way, this is why I pick Greg. This is why I pick up the phone and have so much enthusiasm and so much love for people because I really want to impact people and make a difference for them. When I see a guy like you and I see, oh my God, you're not properly using LinkedIn and you're a partner at the company and you're like, it just, it's just an opportunity to connect with the right CMOs or the right CTOs or the right people that can, that can make a difference. And I'm sure, I'm sure Spendana would agree.
Yeah, no, I'll, I'll, I'll name right. Yeah. Yeah.
And Spendana has 49,000 followers. You know what I mean?
Yeah.
And she's not even using LinkedIn the way she could be. So all I'm saying is that there's a huge opportunity for you guys to really pump on LinkedIn, really pump it.
All right. Well, I'll have the team look at, look at this and listen to the call.
Why don't we schedule a quick follow-up? I would love to hop on a Zoom with you. Would that be a terrible idea?
It wouldn't be a terrible idea, but I'm not going to, I'm not going to throw some time on the calendar quite yet.
Oh, you're not going to jump on the calendar. Okay. Any reason why? Is it because you're, you don't have You don't, you don't believe that this will help or because you think that you would see more value in just not having it on the calendar right now until you confirm things? Is it a trust thing?
No, it's just not a, not a large priority. There's just some other stuff that we're working on. So like, I don't want to go through all of it.
I don't want to waste your—
I don't want to.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
You guys are not super serious about it.
Okay. No problem.
No worries. No stress at all. If you decide you want to get something on the calendar, you can text me. You have my cell phone number, right? Did you find me in Apollo or what? What were you using?
Uh, yeah, we use Apollo. Uh, and then we use, and then we use Nooks.
Nooks. Okay, cool. Yeah, no, I love Apollo. I love when people call me from Apollo. I can recognize it from a 10-foot pole. I can see what's coming in. And as soon as it comes in, I'm able to pick up the phone and have a real conversation. By the way, if you would have just told me your name and your company name and I didn't do my due diligence in 10 seconds, I wouldn't have been able to have this relationship that now we have forever and ever and ever.
I know. I'll cherish— I will cherish that. Even if we don't get time on—
We're gonna get time on the calendar at some point. The real question is—
Yeah, that's true. That's true.
Whatever. We'll figure it out when you're ready, when you feel safe to do it and you realize it's a priority that you want to have.
We'll get time on the calendar. Well, yeah.
But no rush.
Hey, whether it's for Evvii or Pump, we don't know. It'll be in the future. One of us will be Exactly. You never know.
You never know. It might not even be a pitch. It might be a mutually beneficial relationship where I pay you—
Oh my goodness.
Maybe I'll pay you 20% per year for 3 years for some other company that you have a relationship with that you want them to test us before you test us, which by the way, I don't mind. And on top of that, I'll pay you if you get me a company that has 10 employees and they sign up to our product and they're thriving. And let's say they end up spending somewhere like, let's say $30K with us. For 3 years, I'm happy to pay you $21,000 for that. And you did nothing other than just point them in the right direction to have a conversation with me. And I did all the work. I'm happy to pay you 20% for 3 years.
Nope.
No questions asked. So you're in San Francisco anyway, right? So you probably know people there that you're probably going to some of the events there. You're a young guy. You're not an old guy. I know that you have a lot of experience, but you're not 80.
No, no.
You know, you're in the scene, you're in the scene with the people, you know, the other people that have account executives. So the second you see what I'm doing, You'll be like, damn, son, this guy knows what time it is.
Shit. All right, well, no, I appreciate your time, Joe. I, I have to run.
Okay, go. Thank you. We'll talk soon. Yeah, looking forward.
Beautiful reverse, reverse cold call. Thank you for your time.
All right, bye.
Bye.
Ladies and gentlemen, I hope that you heard that, and that's an inbound to me. An inbound conversation to me with this wonderful gentleman named Gregory. And I love when people call me. Why? Because I'm able to build a real relationship with them. I'm able to get to know them. I'm able to like learn about them, you know? So for him, what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna grab his phone number right over here, a nice little phone number. I'm gonna add his phone number into Evie AI. I'm gonna grab his Email address right over here. I'm going to click on View Email. I got his little Gmail over here. I'm going to pop it in right here, and I'm going to build a relationship with him. I'm going to get to know him. I want to learn about him on on Facebook. Is he on Facebook? Every AI will check to see if he's on Facebook. You see, I don't really see him here. There's a lot of Gregory Garcias. So we're going to change the city to San Fran. San Francisco. See if I can pull him up on Facebook here. Greg Garcia, San Fran. I don't see him here. There's so many of them. It might be this guy here.
I doubt it.
600 friends, doesn't look like it. He might not be on Facebook. Um, we're gonna Google him, see what he is, and then we're gonna type in pump, see what comes up.
Oh, I wrote pimp by accident. I meant pump.
See what comes up here for this. Oop, pump.co. New team member on board July 2024. Rocketreachtheorg.com. Cloud spend return. Court Supreme Court.
Ooh.
Oy vey. Oy vey. This guy's got to do some work on his, you know, on what's going on. Let's read the blog post. We're excited to share that Pump engineering and sales team expanded to 3 new members. Greg Garcia, Joe Walker, and Pia Pillar.
Okay.
He spent time as an account executive, hired 2023. Oh my God. That's where it picked it up from. Amazing. John Walker. Let's see what John Walker's up to. Let's look up John Walker and let's look up Pia. See if John Walker's still working there. Uh, looks like John Walker left. So should we call up John Walker? Oh, he left. He was a founding software engineer and he left. I wonder why. I wonder why Joe Walker left. Let's, um, let's call up Joe Walker. Let's do some due diligence and call up Joe Walker and find out why he left. Why did you leave Pump? What's going on with Pump that you left? I need to know. So let's, let's do a little bit of research here. Um, how are we gonna do this? We're gonna open up, uh, a tool that allows me to be able to call this guy, and let's just see if he picks up the phone. In the meantime, let's look up Bia real quick. Ooh, Bia's AE.
Let's see.
Oh, she moved to this other company called Alex AI. Interesting. So let's look up Bia, see if her phone number is here anywhere. Let's see if her phone number is here. She doesn't even have an about section on LinkedIn.
Oy vey.
Let's see if we can find her easily as well. Uh, find phone number for Bia. Oh, she has a 510 number.
Alex AI. Let's just see if she'll pick up the phone. Let's see.
All right, let's see.
Hi, if you record your name and reason for calling, I'll see if this person is available.
Hey Bia, it's Joe Apfelbaum. Thanks, please stay on the line. Oh, she has a private Instagram with— it looks like her, doesn't it? Let me see if that's her.
I'm sorry, this person is not available. If you would like to leave an additional message, please reply after the tone.
Hi, Bia, this is Joe Apfelbaum, CEO of Evvy AI. I was looking into you and I noticed that you worked for some time at Pump, and I had some questions about them. I saw that you love reading so much that you read 140 books and that you have a dog named Copper. And that you're a diehard San Francisco Giants fan. Congratulations. Anyway, I don't know much about you. I just saw that you worked there and I just had a conversation with Greg Garcia and I figured I'd call you to learn more about what your experience was working with them. I saw that you started with Joel Walker along with Greg. And if you can call me back at 917-865-7631, I truly appreciate it. You could also text me if you can, if you're too busy. I'd love to know your experience. I see that you're working right now at Alex AI. I looked at your LinkedIn. And, um, yeah, I'm gonna send you a connection request as well. So this way, um, you'll see me, my inbound connection request coming in and you'll see that I'm not some weirdo or stranger. Um, but yeah, I started a company called Evvy AI and I help people with LinkedIn and Greg called me and we had a great conversation. So I wanted to learn more about your input related to Pump. Anyway, talk to you soon, Bia.
Thank you for— All right, that, that hung up. That was a long one.
That was a long voicemail. All right, what were we doing? We were just doing something completely different. Oh, because Greg called me out of nowhere. I wanted to make a song about the event happening in Orlando hosted by Joe Apfelbaum and Larissa.
Neil, about LinkedIn strategy and holistic— Joe is the LinkedIn.
Um, all right, let's just see, make it a— what, what style? We're going to make it a wrap.
All right, we're going to hit create and we're going to close all this stuff here that we have going on.
By the way, if you guys are watching me live, let me know that you're watching me live. I'm going to go here, click on my recent activity just to see what's going on here. Um, it doesn't look like anybody commented on this live yet, which is cool, but if you guys are watching this live, just let me know that you are.

Oh.

yes, thank you. OK. What I want to do is I want to then take the contents of this, update a contact field, update a contact field, update a contact field data. First, I want to validate the data. How do you validate? Validate AI text formatter. Appointment booking, conversational AI, send booking meeting, send email. Let's see. Number formatter, else if array functions. How do I check to see if a response was an email address? Let's see. In the condition, Secretariat checks to see if the reply contains an email format commonly known as@. Add a condition to the action, wait for, wait for a reply step. In the condition field, message body contains operator E, and a second condition with a dot used to advance condition. If both are present, it's likely the response is an email address. Um, okay, so where would that be? Check to see if the response is an email. Here's how you do it. Add a condition action after the wait for reply. A condition action. Let me see. Condition action. Build your own. Contact replied has tag. Let's see. Build your own branch. Field message body. Contact details.
No.
Contact details. Contact reply. Contact replied message is— let me see.
Condition.
Build your own.
Add a condition.
In the condition field, message.body. Let me see if I could do that. Contains. Let's see. Let's see if there's a custom one. Workflow events, custom values. Message.body. Let's see, contact details. Let's see if it's message.body. No, not contact details. Company date, contact reply, contact replied, no, replied message contains at.
Okay.
Save action. Oh, save action. Replied message contains an@. When none are met, send a text message. Ask for email. Save. And then if condition is contact reply replied contains@, then If reply contains an@, then say thank you. Thank you, see you at the event. Save action. If not, then go back. How do I say go back? Go back. Go to. Perfect.
Save.
