How to use CHATGPT to leave LinkedIN Recommendations for your LinkedIn Connections using AI.

In this tutorial, Joe Apfelbaum walks viewers through the complete process of creating LinkedIn recommendations and endorsements using artificial intelligence. He first demonstrates the native LinkedIn workflow—locating a connection’s profile, clicking the “More” button, and selecting “Recommend” or “Endorse.” He shows two ways to request a recommendation: sending a direct request or writing one directly. Joe then writes a brief draft recommendation for a client named Jessica, copies it to the clipboard, and feeds it into a custom Chrome extension that forwards the text to OpenAI’s API. The extension returns three rewritten versions in different tones and languages; Joe selects the professional tone, copies the output, and posts it on LinkedIn. He repeats the process for another connection, Jackie Woodside, this time using the ChatGPT web interface directly: he copies Jackie’s profile details, prompts ChatGPT with a request to generate a recommendation, iterates on the response, and finally posts the refined recommendation. Throughout, he highlights the ability to adjust tone (happy, sarcastic, professional, etc.) and language. Joe also mentions additional AI tools (Otter, Canva, Midjourney, Jasper, Copy.ai) and promotes his Evergreen training programs, including LinkedIn Accelerator, Sales Navigator training, and an AI course at ai‑evergreen.com. The video ends with a call to action for viewers to like, comment, and reach out for beta access to the Chrome extension.

Hello, my name is Joe Apfelbaum, and today I want to show you how to give connections on LinkedIn recommendations using artificial intelligence. So if you want to give somebody a recommendation on LinkedIn, you have to go to their profile. For example, I'm going to Jessica's profile over here, and you click on the more button. Now keep in mind, this person needs to be a first-degree connection. That means they actually have to be connected to you on LinkedIn in order for you to give them a recommendation. So if they're not, Make sure you first connect with them. You click on the more button and then you click the recommend link over here. Now if you scroll down on their profile to the skills and to the recommendation section, you'll see that Jessica doesn't actually have any recommendations. And if you click on the given part, you see that she gave one recommendation to Scott. So I want to make sure that I show up over here in this section. So I can go up to the More button and click on Recommend. And if I want her to recommend me, I could press Request Recommendation, and it'll actually send her a direct message asking her to recommend me. So the other option is to go down over here and to click on the Recommend button next to the Recommendations tab. So those are 2 ways to do that. You can also give endorsements. So for example, I'm going to give her an endorsement for a social— for a television. And then I'm going to click on recommend Jessica. A little pop-up box is going to pop up and it's going to say, what is your relationship with Jessica? So Jessica happens to be a client of ours. So you taught Jessica. Jessica was a client of ours. I'm going to write what company she is. VP contributor, founder at Jessica Alba. So I'm going to click on that. And now I'm going to write something that I want AI to embellish further. So I'm gonna write, Jessica is a great client and a networking partner for us. I highly recommend her media training services that she provides to small businesses. Business owners and executives. Okay. Executives. All right. So I just wrote this little blurb, but this is not a great recommendation because it's kind of like small. So I'm going to use one of my plugins. I'm going to first copy this. So I have it in my clipboard and I'm going to use one of my plugins over here. I'm going to use one of my little plugins here. And if you want access to this particular Chrome extension, that sends this information to OpenAI and it writes these really amazing recommendations, definitely hit me up on LinkedIn, send me a message, say, Joe, here's my email address, please give me beta access to this tool. We're developing different versions of the tool. So, uh, definitely hit me up and send me an email. So look at this. It gives me 3 separate options. I can do it in any language. So it says, I recommend Jessica Alba for media training services. As a client of ours, Jessica has shown dedication, professionalism, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I highly recommend Jessica Alba for media training services. She's been a great client and networking partner of ours. She provides high-quality media training to small business owners. Her commitment to excellence, blah, blah, blah. I highly recommend Jessica Alba for media training services. She was a client of ours. I cannot be happier with her services. She's a great collaborator, top-notch. Okay, so I'm going to choose the middle one over here. Now, if I want to change the tone, there's lots of different tones that I can choose. I can choose happy, sarcastic, normal, professional. In this case, I just chose professional. I like that one. And I really like this one over here. So I'm going to copy that one out and I'm going to right-click on it. I'm going to press copy. I can press insert as well, but I wanted to just show you a different way to do it. I press copy, I paste it. And now I'm going to press send. This is going to notify her that I left her a recommendation. And when she approves the recommendation, it's going to show up on her profile. Now let me show you another way to do this. If I go to my LinkedIn profile, right, linkedin.com/in/joeapfelbaum, scroll down to my own recommendations on LinkedIn, and I'll notice that people have given me recommendations. I want to return the favor. So for example, Jackie Woodside, she gave me a really nice recommendation. She said, I had the privilege of working with Joe Apfelbaum, highly recommend him as a LinkedIn expert, author, speaker, AI expert, just a wealth of knowledge in B2B marketing and so on. Okay. So I want to return the favor to Jackie. So I'm going to click on Jackie's profile right now. And as I can see, I am connected to her. So I'm able to leave her a recommendation here. She's based in Boston. She's an extraordinary— she helps extraordinary leaders and cultures through transformational selling leadership coaching and training. Let's see what she is over here. Are you a lifestyle and coach? Want to become one? Jackie's here. I'm a coaching consultant for other coaches. I see what she does over here. She's a coaching consultant for other coaches and she's part of my networking group as well. And she's really awesome. I'm going to give her an endorsement for our skill called coaching. She's going to get notified in her notifications that I gave her that endorsement. And then I see that she's gotten recommendations. The last time is 2018. It's time for a new one. So I'm going to give her a recommendation. Now, if I want to see who she gave recommendations to, I click on the given button and I see that I'm the last person she gave a recommendation to, which is really, really nice. So I'm going to click on received and I'm going to click on recommend Jackie. Now for me, me and Jackie, we worked in a different group. So she worked, we worked together, but in different companies. So I'm going to click on, we worked together in different companies. I'm going to write, she's a seminar leader, executive director, owner of Jackie Woods Certified Professional Coach. Now I am going to actually take the information from her profile and put it into ChatGPT. So I'm going to disregard this just for a moment. I'm going to go into her profile over here. I'm going to copy this information. I'm going to go into ChatGPT and I'm going to say, please create a LinkedIn recommendation for Jackie Woodside. I'm going to delete this over here. For— please create a LinkedIn invitation for my LinkedIn connection. My LinkedIn connection, Jackie Woodside. She helps. So I got to kind of like make it a little bit better. She helps extraordinary leaders create cultures of excellence, transformational leadership, coaching and training. I'm going to delete this extra little content over here, and then I'm going to add a little bit more information here so that it has a little more details. All right, so I was having some trouble here, so I paused the recording for a second. I had to go through a few chats with ChatGPT. I mean, as you can see, it's crapping out over here as well. But essentially I said, can you help me write a recommendation for a connection of mine? It said, of course. Can you provide me with the person, the context of the recommendation, and what specific skills and qualities you want to highlight. So I wrote, please create a LinkedIn recommendation for my connection Jackie Wookside. She's an extraordinary leader that creates cultures of excellence through transformational leadership. Jackie's a great coaching consultant to other coaches, and me and her are in a networking group together. She has a great part— she's a great— she's been a great partner of mine and always says nice things Nicest things to say. I highly recommend Jackie as an expert and would introduce her to any coach who wants to take their practice to the next level. Highly recommended. And it says over here, I'm honored to recommend Jackie Wookseit as a transformational leadership coach and consultant. I have had the pleasure of knowing Jackie through our mutual participation networking group, and she's been a great source of support, inspiration, and wisdom to me. I'm gonna press regenerate response over here because It crapped out in the middle. Now, while this is doing this, there are other tools that you can use in order to create LinkedIn recommendations. So I'm gonna attempt to use some other tools here, and I'll pause the video and see if it— once it's done over here, I'll look like it started working again. I highly recommend Jackie Wooksi, top-notch coaching consultant. As a member of the networking group, Jackie has been consistently Consistently impressed by our ability. Okay, cool. Can you— it crapped out again. Finish writing the recommendation, please. Let's see. I'm just having a conversation with this because this thing is— it just had another heart attack over here. Obviously there's something going on right now with OpenAI and you're gonna, you're gonna see that this keeps happening. So using like the tools that I have is very, very powerful. So, um, because it, it wouldn't crap out like this, it just kind of shows up because we're using the API versus using ChatGPT. But technically you can use ChatGPT and you can see it, it just continued writing it. I just said, can you please finish the recommendation? Now I have to kind of connect these 2 things together. So that's what I'm going to do. And then I'm going to post it. All right. I got the information into LinkedIn. I highly recommend Jackie Wostal as a top-notch coaching consultant. As a member of a networking group with Jackie, I've been consistently impressed by her ability to help extraordinary leaders create cultures of excellence through her transformational leadership. And then I wrote, Jackie's truly a standout in our field, consistently demonstrating a deep understanding The process and passionate about helping people. I highly recommend Jackie if you want to take your coaching practice to the next level. So this is a higher quality recommendation, and it took a little bit more time to create, but I highly recommend, you know, depending on the type of recommendation that you want to create, using these tools to help you rewrite what you wrote. So I wrote a little sentence and it took it and wrote an amazing recommendation that I'm so proud of. So I'm definitely gonna Click send to this and it just takes a few minutes and there you go. That's how you leave recommendations with AI. If you want more information about our courses or our coaching programs, you can go to evergreen.com. We actually have a few LinkedIn training programs starting. We have a Sales Navigator training, we have a LinkedIn Accelerator, and we have Evergreen Networking, which is our signature program on how to leverage LinkedIn. If you want some AI training, we have a lot of people signing up for our AI course right now. So just go to ai-evergreen.com/ai, and we actually teach you how to use a variety of different tools. And we teach you how to brainstorm, how to research, how to create strategy, how to summarize, how to create content scripts, how to use social media, emails, how to use it for creativity. We teach you how to use ChatGPT, how to use Otter, TextAid, Canva, Midjourney, Jasper, or Copy.ai, like a bunch of different tools. So if you want to learn how to use those tools, definitely go to evergreen.com/ai. We literally just launched our course here and you can learn how to use these tools to help you grow your business. Yeah, so I absolutely love using these AI tools because I can go in here and I can leave comments using these tools. So I can select my tone, grumpy. I'm going to do a happy tone and generate. It reads the LinkedIn post. And it can leave comments. I really like the way that it just types everything up. I can then go ahead and customize it just a little bit and add a little boom here and then press post. But the recommendations part is really, really helpful because I love leaving recommendations for my connections. And I, as you can see, I have thousands and thousands of connections. I have what, so many people here that I'm connected to and I I did not leave a lot of recommendations. So I'm going to be leaving recommendations from my connections. Like for example, Moira, I know her, she's part of my networking group. So I'm going to leave her a very nice recommendation now. And now you know exactly how I do it in just minutes. I can endorse people and I can be the only person that recommended her. You know, like that's, that's a powerful thing when you think about that, being the person that recommends. Now, if you click on the recommend button and it doesn't show up, that's one more thing I wanted to quickly show you. Just copy the person's name here, click on more, and then click on recommend. And for whatever reason, you got to search for the person again. You put their name in and then you select your relationship. And then you select where, and then you write the recommendation. And I'm going to be using this tool because it's much faster than using ChatGPT. But if I want a higher quality recommendation, I would then use ChatGPT instead of this tool. But if you want access to this tool, just send me a DM. And I'd be more than happy to recommend this tool or any other tools that I have available inside our course. All right. Thank you so much for being part of this program. Thank you for watching. Give this video a like if you enjoyed it and leave a comment letting me know what you thought about this. Do you believe in using AI? Do you believe this is helpful? Are you fascinated by this? Are you disgusted by it? I'm curious to know. Anyway, thank you for watching this. My name is Joe Apfelbaum. I appreciate you and I'll see you on LinkedIn. Boom.
