Role Play Sales with AI - See Joe Apfelbaum Talk to an AI and have a sales conversation

In this YouTube video, Joe Apfelbaum demonstrates how to use an AI voice agent for sales role‑playing. He programs the AI to act as "Audrey," a solo attorney specializing in advertising law, and conducts a mock LinkedIn sales call. The conversation walks through classic discovery questions—budget, decision‑maker authority, timeline, business description, primary LinkedIn goal (lead generation vs. brand awareness), and challenges with lead generation. Joe positions his LinkedIn training services, offering profile optimization, content strategy, and ongoing management, and secures a follow‑up meeting. After the role‑play, Joe explains the broader value of AI‑driven role‑play for sales training, mentions his Evvy AI tool for automating LinkedIn comments, posts, and messages, and promotes his LinkedIn Training Apprentice program, a playbook with rebuttals, and workshops where participants can build custom industry‑specific AI role‑players. He invites viewers to try the approach, request the guide, and subscribe for more content.

Today, I'm gonna be talking to an artificial intelligence robot voice agent that I'm gonna role-play with. So one of the uses of AI that I like to tell people is, hey, you can chat with artificial intelligence and role-play with it. And I programmed one to be a lawyer, and that is having a conversation with me to learn more about how I can help this lawyer named Audrey about LinkedIn. Here we go.
Hi, I'm Audrey, a lawyer specializing in corporate law. How can I help you today?
My name is Joe, and I'm so excited to be your LinkedIn trainer. Can we have 15 minutes to talk about your business so I can learn more about how I can support you?
Hi Joe, nice to meet you. Yeah, I'd love to chat with you about my business. I'm really looking to leverage LinkedIn to grow my practice and establish myself as a thought leader in advertising law.
What specific needs do you have that you hope to get from LinkedIn?
I'm looking to increase my visibility, build my personal brand, and attract more clients. I'd love to position myself as a go-to expert in advertising law and get more leads and referrals through LinkedIn.
That's awesome. I appreciate you sharing that with me. I have a question for you in terms of budget. Do you have a budget to be able to accomplish this? Like, for example, many of our clients spend approximately $1,000 to first redo their profile and then maybe a couple hundred to $1,000 a month for us to manage their LinkedIn for them to get results. Would you be able to have such a budget?
Yeah, I think that's definitely doable. I'm willing to invest in my business, and I think the potential return on investment would be worth it. I'd like to know more about what exactly I'd be getting for that budget, though.
Yeah, I definitely can break it down for you. But before I send you that, I'm just curious to know, do you have anybody else in your organization that would make the decision with you, like maybe a partner or a spouse or somebody else, a managing partner, or do you make all the decisions when it comes to making investments and marketing initiatives?
No, it's just me. I'm a solo practitioner, so I make all the decisions for my practice. I'm the one who handles the marketing and business development, so I'd be the one making the call on this.
Okay, and when it comes to seeing results from LinkedIn and getting started with a project, would you want to get started now in July, or do you want to move forward maybe next year or the year after? What does your timeframe look like?
I'm ready to get started as soon as possible. I'd like to see results sooner rather than later. July sounds good to me.
Okay.
The sooner I can start seeing an impact.
I have a question about your business. Now, let's talk a little more about your business and your role in your company. And also, I want to hear about some specific goals you have from LinkedIn and maybe some challenges that you've experienced in the past. So let me first start and we can, you can answer each one at a time. Can you tell me just briefly about your business and your role in the company?
I'm an attorney specializing in advertising law and I run my own solo practice. I provide legal services to clients in the advertising and marketing industry, helping them navigate issues like compliance, contracts, and regulatory matters.
What is your primary goal when it comes to using LinkedIn? Are you looking more to generate leads or more brand awareness? You mentioned kind of both before, but which one is more important to you right now?
I'd say leads are more important to me right now. While brand awareness is important, I really need to generate more leads and get more clients in the door to grow my practice.
I totally understand that you need more leads right now. What challenges have you faced in achieving getting leads? Have you seen any challenges?
Yeah, I've struggled to consistently generate high-quality leads. I've tried posting on LinkedIn, attending industry events, and even running some ads, but I haven't seen the results I was hoping for. It feels like I'm just not reaching the right people.
Okay. Yeah, that, that I see that a lot, especially if your profile's optimized the way that your profile's optimized, you're not gonna reach the right people. So we definitely need to optimize your profile and we also need to start taking the right activities consistently. I'm going to send you a few profile tips. I did a whole analysis on your profile. I'm also going to give you some content tips because the content you're writing is not in line with getting new clients and I'm going to also send you detailed pricing for how we can work together. Do you have the ability to meet with me, say tomorrow, to review everything with me?
Yeah, that sounds great. I'd love to review the profile tips and I'm looking forward to getting those tips and reviews, and I'm available to meet tomorrow. What time were you thinking?
I'm going to send you an email now with a calendar invite for 9 AM tomorrow Eastern time, and I'm looking forward to chatting with you then. Thank you so much and have a wonderful day.
Sounds good, Joe. I'll keep an eye out for that email, and I'm looking forward to our call tomorrow. Thanks again and have a great day.
Thank you. Goodbye, Audrey. So as you can see, what I did there was I had a conversation with an artificial intelligence software that is, uh, there just to role-play with me. Now I can control exactly how I want the role-play to happen. If I want rebuttals, if I want questions, if I want it to be difficult, if I want it to be in a particular industry, I can set all that up in advance and then have the AI be able to go there and then challenge me and question me, work with me and support me in my business. So if you're not doing this right now, if you don't have an AI that you're role-playing with and you're just not role-playing and you're in a role of sales, I highly recommend you begin doing this and you start using artificial intelligence to help you in your business. I have an AI called Evvy AI that helps me be able to write comments on people's posts on LinkedIn. It's really powerful and it helps me be able to also write posts on LinkedIn and be able to send direct messages and use templates and a variety of other things. And so if you're not leveraging AI today, you should definitely come to our next workshop where we teach people how to be able to create these AIs and let me know if this is something that you would try. Would you want to roleplay with artificial intelligence and have such a conversation? Would you want your clients to do this? Would you want to support people and help them be able to grow their business by roleplaying with voice technology like AI? And there are many different voices and many different models, and I can show you how they all work if you want to learn. And if you want me to build one for you in your industry that'll help you roleplay, I'm happy to do it. Let me know what you think of this and also let me know if you want Um, the actual guide for role-playing, I can pop it in the comments or I can send it to you if you want. Just hit me up. Let me know. I am, uh, running a LinkedIn training apprentice program, and I did this specifically, this video, to be able to give this to the apprentices that are learning how to be LinkedIn trainers and help people out. And I'm gonna be giving them this artificial intelligence to speak to. And yes, there's a per-minute charge that it costs me for them to talk to the AI. I'm gonna give them the training for it so they could build it on their own. I'm gonna teach them how to talk to their, to the AI, how to practice. And then I'm gonna give them the playbook that you saw that walks them through step by step what to say, along with all the different rebuttals. When people have issues, when they have questions, when, you know, they're not sure what to say, they're gonna have all the different answers, exactly what to say and how to say it. And that's one of the benefits of working with a coach and a guide that will help you be able to Get what you need because they're gonna walk you through based on their experience. So hope you found this valuable. If you did find this valuable and you liked this roleplay conversation I had with the AI, give this video a like, make sure to subscribe to watch more. And of course, leave a comment. Let me know what your thoughts are. Did you enjoy this? Did you not enjoy this? Did you find this valuable? Did you not? Talk to you soon. See you on the next video. Boom. Boom.
