The meaningful way to grow on LinkedIn | How to Future-Proof Your Career Today

In this recorded sales call, Joe Apfelbaum contacts Avi Ritter, who previously requested information about the "99 LinkedIn Hacks" product. Joe explains a New Year’s special offering the 99‑minute‑long LinkedIn hack videos for $99 (normally $1,000) and provides the landing page URL (99hacks.club). He asks about Avi’s LinkedIn goals, learns Avi works for a Canadian charity focused on sports promotion, and uses the conversation to illustrate broader concepts: LinkedIn is not just a marketing platform but also a networking tool; building a large, active network now protects against future job transitions; personal branding and online reputation act as an "insurance policy" by populating search results with positive, controlled content. Joe advises buying a domain or creating active profiles on LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, etc., to shape one’s digital narrative. He shares his own experience of growing a fast‑growing company after investing in his reputation. The call ends with a polite thank‑you, a New Year greeting, and a brief plug for Evvy AI, an AI‑powered networking assistant.

Part of the 99 Hacks, we teach you how to kind of like expand your network in a way that will help you be able to be more successful on LinkedIn in a meaningful way. Hi, Ritter.
Thank you.
The reason I'm calling is because you requested some information the last day of the year. I think you were the last person to request information about our 99 LinkedIn Hacks. Were you looking for new clients, Ritter, or were you looking for a job?
Oh, I'm not looking for new clients. I was looking for information on the hacks.
So, oh yeah.
So how I could improve.
So we, we're actually off as a New Year's special. We're actually offering them at $900 off. They're usually $1,000, so you can get them today for just $99. Did you get the coupon code for that?
I'm not sure. I've been away from my stuff, but if you send it, I will follow up if I'm interested. Are you providing some information along with it so I can review it?
Yeah, 100%. So I'll send you, I'll send you the landing page. It's 99hacks.club. I also texted it to you. And on that page we have 2 example videos. So you can kind of see if you're going to get value from them. Each hack is less than a minute long. Each one is less than a minute long. And they provide a tremendous amount of value. We have 99 of them and we're offering it at 90% off. So there's a lot of nines in there, but our goal is to help you learn how to use LinkedIn more effectively. What's your goal with LinkedIn? What are you trying to accomplish with it?
I haven't used it in a long time. I, I, I, I, you know, LinkedIn is essentially a marketing platform and, uh, you know, I'm employed, so I'm not really using it. I don't like putting information.
What type of job do you have, Ritter?
I work for a charity, uh, doing promotion in sports.
Ooh, I love that, a charity. You said a charity?
Yeah, it's a charity, so it's, uh, I mean, I'm in Canada, I run one of the largest sports organizations, but it's owned by a charity, so it's a little different platform. Wow.
I have a guy who does auctions for charities, he's an awesome guy, and he doesn't charge anything for the auctions, and he usually raises like $100,000, like insane, at charity events. Do you guys run events? 'Cause it could be a good intro for you guys.
We don't do— we don't do that. It's more like— it's hard to explain. I'm owned by the charity, but the charity has all those functions on its own.
Ah, so you're like a separate wing, unrelated completely.
Exactly. I provide a service to the charity, and they run all their other stuff, and I keep the glue together for them.
Got it.
But I'll review the information. I really appreciate the contact.
It's my pleasure. Is your name Avi?
It is.
Oh, that's wonderful. My name is Joe.
Okay, Joe, thank you very much.
I had a friend in Toronto named Avi Shomer. Do you happen to know a guy named Avi Shomer?
I don't know. I don't know Mr. Shomer.
You don't know Mr. Shomer? Okay, that's crazy. He's Shomer Shabbos though.
That's very funny.
That's funny. That is very funny. Anyway, so I appreciate you taking the time to speak to me. It's a big misconception that LinkedIn is just a marketing platform. The truth is LinkedIn is also a networking platform, and if you have a job to do—
Well, we use it to post a lot of our charitable stuff as a social thing.
Yeah.
The funny thing is, you know, we don't use it enough to apply for job postings, which, you know, I think that was the main goal.
Amazing. And here's the other thing, Avi. If you personally start using it as a networking tool, if you need another position in the future, which you might need in the future, I don't think you need one right now, but you might need another position in the future, Avi. At that point, you'll already have a network of thousands of people. So part of the 99 Hacks We teach you how to kind of like expand your network in a way that will help you be able to be more successful on LinkedIn in a meaningful way. And also when you need those positions, they'll be available for you. You won't be like, all of a sudden you showed up, you'll show up and you're like, oh, I need help now. No, no, no, no. I've been working my network the whole time I was employed. So when I actually need it, I'm not gonna get screwed and be left hanging there and trying to like beg people for things.
Right.
Because I've done so many people favors networking and building relationships for so long. You know what I mean, Avi?
Makes sense. It makes sense.
So that's what I would do. And also, it also improves your own personal brand, like online. If I Google your name, Avi Ritter, I don't know if— is your name Avi Ritter or Avi Cooper?
It's Avi Ritter.
Yeah, so if I search for Avi—
You'll find very limited information on me.
Very limited, right.
But that's on purpose.
What I would tell you to do is, on purpose, find a lot of information, but the information that you want to find, because you never know when you're going to have a lawsuit, or you're gonna have an issue with someone, and then you're gonna have info that you're trying to get rid of, but you never established yourself. So establish yourself with a bunch of information that you are comfortable with, maybe information about things that you're passionate about, or things that you're so not private about, or things that you're just interested in, but they're all associated with your name and they're totally kosher. And this way, when, when something happens and somebody puts your name, they won't be able to own it in a second and screw you over. You're almost like creating an insurance policy for yourself. that protects you in case something comes up on the internet with your name that is, that it's kind of like open for the taking.
Yeah, I'm guiding them on what they can do.
Yeah, yeah, so I would say buy your domain, set up a website, but if you don't want to spend the money, start being active on LinkedIn with your name and watch what happens. Even if you create a Facebook account, a YouTube account, whatever, and then all of a sudden that comes up on the first page of Google and you're controlling the narrative versus letting the universe control it for you, which you never know what lesson the universe wants to give you. And sometimes they're painful. So I know so many people that come to me, they're like, oh, help me with my reputation. I was like, well, I should have started 10 years ago. You know what I mean? No, I hear you. So I love giving people advice. I love helping people. Thankfully, I was very fortunate. I grew one of the fastest growing companies in America. But before I started the business, I had a job. And one of the great smart things that I did was invested in my own reputation. So by the time I started my company and I needed opportunities, I had so many people in my life and I was able to generate millions of dollars. I highly recommend looking at these 99 hacks. And then if you have questions about LinkedIn or best practices or reputation, just reply to me and let me know that you're interested in chatting again and we can have a nice matzo ball conversation.
Perfect. Perfect. Thank you very much.
Happy New Year. Thank you for taking my call.
You too.
We'll talk soon.
Take care. No problem. Bye-bye.
