5 Shocking Things I Learned About Cybertruck Bumper Liners

Real-estate investor Joe Homs installs a BaseKnorr bumper protector kit on his Tesla Cybertruck, replacing Tesla's thin OEM liners. The kit includes thick rubber wing pieces, a middle liner, adhesive tape, and a front storage divider. He walks through cleaning, priming, and careful installation, using a hair dryer to flatten a minor fold, and recommends the product for its protective benefits and aesthetic improvement.

Welcome back to my channel. My name is Joe Homs. I'm a real estate investor, um, and I received this product from BaseKnorr, and they wanted me to test it out. And so that's what we're doing here today. Basically, it is a pad that goes on the bumpers to protect them as you're stepping up, and I think it's a great idea. The first pair that I got, I actually got directly from Tesla, and they were so paper thin, and like you would literally just roll them out on there. And honestly, I just didn't think it was a great product, so I never even installed it. This is something brand new that Bassnor just came out with. And anyway, we have the 2 little, let's call them wings. You can see the wing. This is for the right side, or I'm sorry, for the left side here. And we're going to install that. This is, uh, really, you know, pretty thick rubber that's on here, and then self-adhesive tape. And then we have for the middle, we've got right under the license plate, and it's very well made. And it actually has a notch here for where the license plate goes, because I think, I think Tesla put the license plate too low because I can't even put a frame on there. I was hoping to put a frame that says Cybertruck, but I— there's just no way. It's just too close to the bottom. So, um, and then it also came with some storage that goes in the front, and I'll show you that when we get up there to store that. In the box also came some alcohol and some extra tape in case you needed it. And let me find the rest of the alcohol Here, because we're going to need that. Put that back together. Okay, so I, I already wiped this down with soap and water, and they said just let it dry off. Obviously it's dry, and then they said to take these like alcohol wipes and open them up and wipe the area. Try not to do this with your teeth. And so they sent 4, so I'm assuming—
woo—
I'm assuming that, uh, hopefully that's going to be enough. I think it is.
So we'll start here and just use this to wipe this area off, and this is just to get any type of oils out of, uh, out of the bumper area here that we're gonna put the tape on.
Okay, that one looks like it's done. Yeah, there is a little cut here so you don't have to use your teeth like I just did on the first one. It does smell like alcohol. So again, it's just to get that extra oil off of here, the grease, anything that might be left on there.
So we'll take, we'll take that off.
Okay, that's 2. A little cut there. Get this one out. It's called 94 Primer Adhesion Promoter. Comes with the kit. Wipe this down.
I think we're good.
Okay, the first thing, let's install the middle part here.
And like I said, it's got a little notch there that this is going to go into. You can see that it's cut out there.
So what I want to do is I want to take the tape off of the middle because I think that'd be the easiest.
And once I have that glued, then I can glue the side parts.
So let me take the tape off the middle here. Hopefully that comes off Easily. And I did get extra tape in case, in case you need extra tape. They did send extra tape. I can feel that the adhesive is very, very strong, so I got to be careful placing it on there that it goes into the right place, because I don't think I'm going to have any chance to really kind of move it around. That's why I wanted to leave the flaps so that at least I have a little bit more control when I— see, when I put it in there. So, oh my gosh, see, hopefully we got it going here. Yeah, there we go. So, okay, so that's in now. It's got the, the Bassnor logo on here as well.
So That's pretty easy.
That's in. And then we'll take and remove the tape on the sides here.
Okay.
And then push it down a little and then push it this way so that you have a firm fit. Same thing with this side. Wow, yeah, this is definitely sticking. It's like a very good adhesive here. They got it at the 4 corners. They don't have anything in the middle, and the other one we did have in the middle. But anyway, we're down and we're in. Okay, so that one, that one's installed there. And again, if you put your feet up there, get it dirty already.
It's to protect the, uh, the bumper.
So let's work on the side one here. So I, I always like to kind of put it on there and take a look and see how I'm going to install it.
And I can see that probably I'll end up taping down this side one first.
I, I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
Let's see here.
It needs to go like that. Yeah, this is This one's going to be a little bit more difficult because I have to take the tape out. I may have to do the whole thing at once, take the tape out, and obviously I want to make it— make sure that it lands here properly. So it's going to be, it's going to be a little bit more of a challenge to tape this one down. If I left this untaped, Trying to see if I could lift it up this way to get the tape out. I might be able to do that. Yeah, I might be able to do that. I don't know. Let me, uh, I guess it's gonna be trial and error here, so let me just take all the tape out and we'll hopefully put it in the right way. So that if it's the first time Woo! Boy, that sure does tape down. Very, very good adhesive. Adhesive. Okay, so here comes the tricky part, making sure this goes in correctly here and lines up before—
I see that.
I knew that was gonna happen.
There we go.
Gotta go in more.
Thank you. Perfect.
Yep.
Are you in there?
Yeah.
Yeah. Okay, perfect. Okay, put it down, seal it up here.
Perfect.
Looks really nice. All right, close to the edges here, and then this folds over on top of the other Part, so kind of seal it so that the water goes over and doesn't go underneath here and damage it. So that actually went in a lot easier than I thought it was going to go in. You got to make sure that it's all the way down.
Yeah, that's good. Okay, so let's grab the other side. And let's take out the tape. 2 more little pieces.
Yeah. Okay, got all that.
On the other side here, try to do the same thing. You want to grab that?
Try to get it right in the corner there. You got it?
Mhm.
Oh yeah, that looks great. That's good. Perfect.
Oh my gosh, that is just—
honestly, it's so awesome just to look at it, and then it's gonna end up protecting it.
But I, I just love the look.
I just absolutely love the look of it. Make sure it's sealed all the way down. It did come a little folded in the box.
Um, took a hair dryer to it this morning and kind of let it warm up, and then the folds just came right out. So you can see that there's no really folds or no bumps or anything.
And obviously the adhesive does a great job of doing that.
And then again, they sent me this little divider for the front. I'll go install it now, show you where it goes. And it's just, just to add more storage. So real quick, we'll go over here and literally It just goes right in here.
If it went the right way—
right there. Isn't that cool? Take a look. Anyway, that's it. It's, it's not that difficult to install, as you saw. I'll go ahead and throw all this trash away. We're pretty much done. I love it. It's, it's absolutely— I mean, it makes a big difference when you're looking at it. The smooth surface before, now you have the little ripples in place, so it makes a big Big difference. So I highly recommend this product. If you're looking at it, please take a look. And if you happen upon my YouTube channel, that's awesome too. I flip houses for a living. Reach out if you have any questions. Thanks, and we'll see you on the next one.
Thanks for seeing it.
