Are You Interested or Committed to Success?

John Assaraf had severe ulcerative colitis in his early 20s that sent him down a path studying how the mind affects the body. His mentor Allen Brown taught him that focused daily attention shapes reality, and that commitment, not interest, is what removes excuses.

When I was in my early 20s, I ended up with severe ulcerative colitis. For any of you that know the health field, colitis is ulcers in your colon that causes your intestinal tract to swell up. And contrary to popular belief, when you have swelling in your colon, you don't have more room for things to pass through because it swells going inwards. And unfortunately, at 21, I learned that at any time you could just be standing there and shit in your pants. You could be in bed having sex and shit in bed. And as embarrassing as it was then, my question was, why is this happening to me? What's the cause of this? See the symptoms? I knew what they were. Shame, guilt, embarrassment were the emotions. But to not have bowel control at the age of 21, whether you're in the car, at a restaurant, trying to have sex with a beautiful young lady, was not fun. I had a huge motivator for trying to figure out what the F is going on. And that's when I started to learn about this big word called psychoneuroimmunology. And the big word psychoneuroimmunology just means the body mind connection. And that's when I started. I was on 25 pills a day. Salazapyrin was a sulfur based pill that I was taking. I was doing cortisone enemas two to three times a day. Now you may be thinking, what does this have to do okay with money squared? What's he talking to us about, enemas and all this stuff? The tie in for me was, I became very acutely aware in my early 20s, the power of my mind, the power of focusing every ounce of my being on health at the time. And the reason I did that was because two years prior, my first mentor, Allen Brown, helped me set goals. Financial goals, health goals, real estate goals, relationship goals, spiritual goals, charitable goals. And he shared something with me that changed my life. Two things. Number one, he says, whatever it is you focus on every day will become your reality. And the other thing he said to me that many of you have heard me share this maybe at a seminar, is that when you're committed to an outcome, there are no excuses, There are no stories, there are no reasons not to achieve it. But if you're interested in an outcome, you will do what's convenient. You'll come up with excuses, stories, reasons to support your convenience, desire. And so here's my question for you. Are you interested or are you committed? Are you interested or are you committed? And those of you at home. I hope you said committed, too.
