Discovering Your Life Purpose

John Assaraf walks through the Life Design Matrix, a worksheet that clarifies your purpose by engaging your brain's visual, emotional, and logical centers. He breaks it into five life areas, picks your top three goals to avoid overwhelm, and builds 30/60/90-day action plans around empowering declarations like "I must and will" instead of "I should."

Hey there. Great morning to you from San Diego and I hope you're having an amazing day. First question for you is do you have a life purpose? Do you have a life purpose? Let me just raise my chair up a little bit. Do you have a life's purpose? If you have a life's purpose, type in below. John Yes, I have a life's purpose and if you don't, I'm going to give you some tools to use. There's something I've got over here for you today as well. It's called the Life Design Matrix and it will help you do a little evaluation but also it'll help you go through becoming clear on your life purpose and how to do this. All right, so I'm going to be walking you through this document right now. So do you have a life's purpose? I want to know, is it clear and precise? And I'll share with you why, from a neuroscience perspective, it's super important to have a life's purpose and do that. Alright? So hi there Keith. Hi there Jagriti. I'm going to be working off of the line Design Matrix, the Life Design Matrix. It's about a six page little document that you could use to help you achieve your life's first, but also to plan your goals and dreams. And my team will put a link for you if you want it. It's free. My gift to you as part of our Achieve Even More series every Tuesday morning. So hit the like or the love button if you like this. So there's a couple things I'm going to go through. Alright, let me show you. Become clear about your life's purpose. Decide what you want in each of your life. Determine why it's important. Determine the beliefs and habits you need to develop. Clarify the top three goals you want to achieve. Create your 30, 60, 90 day action plan for success. So do you want a copy of this? If you want a copy, just click on the link that Chelsea, who's watching right now, hi Chelsea. Is going to give you access to. My goal is to help you have it all. Many years ago I heard that you can have it all, maybe sometimes not at the same time. You've got to work towards that. And so part of having it all, I learned how to have it all many, many years ago and it took some time. Do you want to have it all? If you want to have it all, hit the like or the love button. And as I mentioned before, a question for you is do you have your life's purpose? If you do do you mind sharing it with me? I want to share mine with you. And it's changed over the years. On page number four, I give you an example right over here and then I show you some of the goal achievement process. There's a huge difference between setting goals and having a life's purpose and actually living it and making it a reality. Would you agree with that? Yes or yes? So the purpose of my life is to live, to love, to grow to and to be mega happy. It is to be a great father to my sons, Keenan, Noah, and a great partner, Maria. To love, inspire and serve others. Short, simple, sweet. I've got a longer version, but that's the short version. Do you have a life's purpose? If it is, type in even components of your life's purpose. I want to share with you why it's important to start with a vision first for your life and creating a story for your life of what you want it to be, but also what is the neuroscience or psychological reasons for having a life's purpose. So when you determine what it is that you want to achieve. Sorry, I've got my lemon smelling atomizer going full blast here right now. So when you from a brain perspective determine what you want to achieve, you're activating the logical left prefrontal cortex part of your brain. You're activating your imagination of saying what it is that you want to achieve and using the imagination centers of the brain and even the occipital lobe, the back part of your brain that processes all visual information. When you write out what you want to achieve and you activate those two parts of your brain and the part of your brain that's actually not engaged too much is the emotional limbic system. The emotional limbic system. So when you're looking to achieve your goals, you're looking for motive for action, right? Motivation. Motive for action. So when you start off with what is my life's purpose? Then you can get the emotions involved. And here's something I discovered many years ago. If your motive for action, your purpose excites you, then guess what being excited is? What? Emotion, energy in motion. So when we don't have a life's purpose, when stuff comes up that's hard, difficult, that causes us to have self doubt or uncertainty, we lose motivation because. Because the problem, the uncertainty, the fear, the self doubt is bigger than the purpose. Does that make sense? The self doubt, the uncertainty is bigger than the purpose. But when the purpose is bigger than the problem, when the purpose is bigger than the knowledge or the skill you need to learn when the purpose is bigger than feeling like, you know, maybe you're not worthy of that goal. If the purpose is bigger than you, it'll be easier. Not easy. It'll be easier to have the motive for the action. If that makes sense, hit the like or the love button. And for those of you who want some additional help, I'm giving this away as my gift to you today. It's called the Life Design Matrix. Having it all, the Life Design Matrix. And in it, Chelsea's gonna put up a link. I'm going to show you a couple things that you're going to be doing in the Life Design Matrix. I went through this before, but not a lot of people were on. So number one is become clear about the purpose of your life. Number two is decide what you want in each area of your life. Number three is determine why it's important to achieve. Number four is you got to develop the beliefs and the habits to achieve that purpose and those goals. And you clarify the three goals you want to achieve. Then you create your plan. The first place I'm going to want you to start is, is doing an evaluation, right? So you do a true north evaluation on where are you spiritually, emotionally, mentally, physically, financially right now? So you can just fill in the 0 to 1 or 0 to 10 on this document and you can follow through with that. Does this make sense so far? Purpose. Purpose first. Why, if you have a big enough why, what you need to do becomes easier? A big enough why? So purpose is, why do you exist? Like, what are you here on this beautiful blue planet for? Is it just to consume, just to eat and to have sex and to, you know, just enjoy life? Okay, that's a good purpose here. But what's a higher moral or social purpose for your existence? What I've discovered, and chime in, okay, is do you agree that when you have a purpose that's bigger than just you, it gives your life even more meaning? When you have a purpose that's even bigger than you, does that not give your life more meaning? And most people say, yeah, I want my life to have meaning. It's when we have meaning for our children, our churches, our synagogues, our mosques, charities, making a difference in the lives of others. Do we feel connected, that our life has purpose and meaning? And think about this. What does every person want, right? One of our friends just passed 53 years old last week, and we had her celebration of life just this past Sunday. And everybody kept talking about how she was a beacon of joy. She was a beacon of joy. Her name was Jules, but she was a beacon of happiness and joy. And one of the things that she wanted, her purpose was to make sure everybody around her, including her, were really happy, and they took care of herself, and she did everything she could to help others have an amazing life. And so Jewel was a beacon of joy. That was her purpose. What is your purpose? Do you mind sharing with me? So Emile says to make organic fashion huge and help people awake their spiritual path. I love that. Awesome, awesome, awesome. Yeah. Cheryl. She was really, really young. This life design matrix has helped you tremendously. Awesome. Cheryl. Hi, Christine. Hi, Pamela. Hi, Debbie. Elizabeth. Donna Donato, I love you. Donna Donato is another special human being on this planet, and so is her beautiful husband Michael. Amazing individuals. And so finding your purpose. How do you find your purpose? Now, listen, contrary to popular belief, not everybody's gonna have a purpose, you know, of, you know, saving the earthlings on planet Earth by colonizing Mars. Not everybody is meant to have that big of a vision and a purpose. But your purpose could be as simple, is to be happy, to be healthy, to love others to my fullest ability so that they could smile more and be happier. That's a purpose. And if every day all you did was do that, that's okay. I want you to. A lot of times, you know, teachers say you have to have a big vision and a big purpose and make the biggest impact on people all over the world. Well, what if you don't really feel inspired to do that? That's okay. Your life's purpose is what your life purpose is. It could be to be a great father, a great mother, a great brother, sister, a great community member. It could be individual for some people. For a community, it doesn't have to be grandiose. And if you're feeling like it's not grandiose enough, there's something wrong with me. There's nothing wrong with you. Your life's purpose is your life's purpose. And every human being, every soul, every whatever you want to call it, here for a reason. And we're only here for a season, right? We're only here for a short season. So what is your life's purpose? Do that really, really well. Okay? Do that really, really, really well. You'll be happier, you'll be healthier. You'll be psychically and probably financially wealthier. You'll be emotionally healthier, mentally healthier, spiritually healthier. And don't think that you have to do something grandiose. If you get this spark this intuitive, instinctual spark that you'd like to expand on, that awesome, great Yahoo for you. But don't rack your brain to think it has to be something so profound and so wild that other people are going to think so highly of you. Does that make sense? If you agree with that, hit the like or the love button so that I can just see that you're there. All right? Even for those of you you don't like to communicate, just let me know. John. This makes sense to me. I love your feedback. Okay, so that's part one. And that's the first part of it. The next part of it, and this is on page four already is. Let's say you have your life's purpose. And you write it up on. I gotta go backwards here, right on this line over here. And then you ask yourself, okay, what are your top three goals? Not 30 goals. Okay, top three goals. What are three goals that you want to achieve now? Why just three? And the answer is, because we want to reduce the neural tension you want to reduce. Whenever you give your brain too many things to do, you enter a state of overwhelm. And an overwhelmed brain actually triggers a circuit called the sympathetic nervous system, or the fight or flight circuit. When that circuit is activated in your brain, in my brain, everybody's brain, we procrastinate. We don't take action. We rationalize why we can't or shouldn't or don't want to do stuff. But when you put together three goals and then you ask yourself, what do I need to believe in order to make those goals real? This is a very deductive, left brain, methodical, organized process for achieving your goals and your life's purpose. So when you just follow this process, okay, the link is below. To get this. When you follow this process, what happens is you're using the left prefrontal cortex of your brain, the visual cortex of your brain, the motor cortex of your brain, the limbic emotional centers of your brain. Now we're engaging a whole bunch of the different parts of our brain which is going to cause us to actually want to take action, because we have a motive for the action. And if we reduce it to the ridiculous. Write that down. Reduce to the ridiculous of, I could do this, I could do this, I can do this. And so you write down those goals. And. And then when you say, what do I need to believe about myself? What do I need to believe about fulfilling my life's purpose? So can somebody write out for me, what is one empowering belief that you need to have that once you have this belief, you start to take more inspired action. See, when we have a vision and goals that don't match with our subconscious beliefs, we don't take action. But if we take a belief and we say, let me use this belief, let me focus on creating that belief in my mind, in my heart, in my gut. Beliefs drive behavior, right? So what is one belief that you need to have in order to take action? So let me just see. Hi there, Dee Foster and Debbie. What is one belief that you need to have? Good afternoon, Brenda. Hi there, Anthony. Hi there, Anthony. All right, so Pamela. Yes, I'm recording this and this will go to the top of this page as soon as I'm done so you can rewatch it again. And by the way, if you like this stuff, if you want to get a copy of this, the link is below. But also, please share it. My goal is to inspire others to help people bring out their genius. My goal is to help people eliminate the mental and the emotional obstacles that holds them back. Something I want you to be aware of. In the absence of structure and order in the brain, a process, there's chaos. In the absence of structure and order, there's chaos. And in order for you to be motivated, for you to take action, for you to stop procrastinating, for you to lower self doubt and the inner critic, you need process. When you follow a process, it's like following a blueprint. So I'm giving you a killer blueprint, all right? From, you know, this, this is what you're going to get. Having it all. Life design matrix. It's about, you know, six, seven, eight pages. You can get it for free. So what beliefs do you need to have? What do you need to declare to yourself? Oh, somebody said, I can do it. I can do anything I put my mind to. So imagine you had your purpose, you had your goals, and then every day you just put on your mirror, all right, I can do anything I set my mind to do. And I'm learning exactly how to do that, right? And here's why I added the last piece. Let's say that you have this declaration or this belief. I could do anything I set my mind to do. But in the back, in the recesses of your mind, you hear this little voice that goes, no, you don't. You've said this before and you haven't followed through. Now what is that? That's what we call the Frankenstein part of the brain instead of the Einstein part of the brain going into the memory bank and remembering all the Times you said that or thought that or felt that, but you didn't follow through. So when you add, you know, I can do anything I set my mind to do, and I'm learning how to follow through on that every day, your brain goes, okay, I can believe that. You see how you get a belief that you may not believe right now by just changing the self talk and language pattern. That's just a little trick that you just learned on reframing a belief and adding words to make your brain believe it so that you have a go signal instead of a stop sign. And the little negative part of our brain. And so then you have to ask yourself this question right over here. See that word? Why must I, why I must and will achieve my goals? Let me ask you a question. What's the difference between I should, I want to and I must and will? What's the difference? Well, when you say I will, that really gives your brain instruction that I will, you know, I must, I will, I'm gonna do that, I'm gonna do that. Now when we do I want to, your brain goes, okay, it's great that you want to. When you say to your brain I should, your brain goes, okay, yeah, you should. There's parts of your brain that are very, very literal. Everything you say, whatever you're speaking from and into the bio computer, different parts of the brain, just like you have different parts of a car and they each do different things. The part of you that declares things is part of your conscious mind. But there's also the subconscious mind part of you. There's also, you know, the Einstein deductive reasoning, imagination and Frankenstein part of you. If you don't know how the different parts work, you may be counterproductive to being effective and to take action. And so you need to learn some language skills, right? So why I must. So if you come up with reasons why you must, then chances are you're going to give yourself some added emotion energy in motion. And guess what? We all need. We need that emotion, we need that fuel to take action. Especially when we may want to be procrastinate, when we may have some self doubt, when we may be lacking knowledge or skills, we may have some fears. What if it doesn't work? What if I disappoint myself? What if I try and I fail and I embarrass myself? These are all mental things, circuits that go on and off in our brain. And so you need as much leverage over yourself. And again, this is going to give you a structure for how to do this. So so far we have purpose and how to do it. We have three top three one year goals, beliefs and declarations. You're now accepting as your truth, why you must and why you will achieve your goals. And then we want to go to this, right? So what is it that you can do? Like, what are three things that you can do in the next 30 days to help you achieve one goal? What are three things that you can do to help you achieve one of your goals? Can you do me a favor? Type in right now. Maybe you want to share a little bit of your goal and then what's one thing you can do? Share with me one thing. You give me a goal, One thing you can do in the next 30 days. Anybody who tells you, you know, last week we talked about the law of attraction, right? And the misunderstanding most people have around the law of attraction. When we take the law of attraction, can anybody tell me what the last six letters are of attraction? What does that spell? Attraction. What are the last six letters? Type it in. Type it in. Type it in. So Tammy's going to officially launch consulting business. I love it. The Aquarian Health Store. Find a manager. Stephanie Burleigh. Hey, Stephanie, what specific knowledge do you need? Right? So action. Yeah. So action. Now would you agree? Where are my Rubik's cubes? I like, I like Rubik's Cubes because they show us something about behavior. When we take the right action in the right order at the right time. Right action in the right order at the right time, do we achieve greater levels of success? Yes or yes. If we take the wrong action, we don't achieve what we want. If we take the right action at the wrong time, we in many cases may not achieve what we want. Right. And so the right action in the right order. A lot of people ask me, what do you mean the right order? Let's say you're baking a cake, there's the right order, that you put the ingredients in your bowl before you put it in the oven for a specific amount of time. If you put the ingredients in the wrong order, the consistency just doesn't work out. And then if you undercook or overcook, it doesn't work out. And so many people don't take action because they lack the knowledge and skill of what do I need to do? When do I need to do it, how should I do it in the right order. And when we don't have the knowledge or the skill, it is one of the things that activates self doubt. I doubt myself and my abilities to do, to take action and get the result I want. And so play with me for just a moment. I want to show you some of the neural networks of what's happening in your brain. When we have self doubt, that triggers the fear center in the brain. When the fear center is activated, we shut down the thinking part of the brain, we shut down our Einstein part of the brain. Motivational centers are decreased and we're in this fight or flight mode. Then we start to procrastinate, Then we don't take action, we don't achieve our goals. So if you don't know what you want to achieve, if you don't have some goals right, Specifically if you don't have some of the action steps that you take in the right order at the right time, then you are going to be out of coherence neurologically and emotionally. Whenever you want to achieve your goals, okay, Your life's purpose, your goals, your vision, whatever it is, you need to get your mindset right, your heart set right, the emotions and your gut, the instinctual part of you aligned. That's called harmony, that's called coherence. And so if you want to have some fun to do an evaluation, pick up the having it all light design matrix. It's free. Enjoy it, have fun. My team will also probably send you some videos so you can watch and go a little bit deeper for you if you're serious and have a little bit of fun with that. Let me say hello to a couple of you. Does this help you? I like to create frameworks, structures of everything we know from the quantum physics world. Your energy, the unseen world, and the forces within the universe that we live in. The brain, the heart, the emotions, the gut. Incorporate the best of that and then, you know, follow through on behaviors. Many of you know, I teach something, you know, as part of some of the stuff we teach our clients called the SEMP model. S E M P. Semp, Spiritual, emotional, spiritual, emotional, mental and physical. S E M P. When you get those four aligned, I'm not talking about spiritual, religious, I'm talking about spiritual is universal intelligence within you and all around you that permeates all space and time, that is omnipresent, omnipotent and available to you in a nanosecond. Get aligned with your spiritualness, your purpose, get your mindset right, your emotions right, and then take the right actions and then all of a sudden you're in flow. Have you ever been in flow where things are just working? Why? That's because you are totally coherent and in harmony with the outcome, the people, the places and the stuff that you're doing. So semp alignment. I hope you enjoyed that. Every week, same time, I do a Achieve Even More session today. We've done a little session on having it all and I've given you the Life Design matrix as my gift to you. If you like my work, give me a like or a love and share it with the world.
