Short YouTube interview (John Assaraf with his wife Maria) about Maria’s upcoming charity walk to raise $50,000 for the Spinal Research department at Rady’s Children’s Hospital in San Diego. Maria explains she had congenital scoliosis as a child, benefited from surgery and community support, now works with the hospital’s orthopedic department on awareness and fundraising, and is training to walk approximately one to four miles to benefit newborns through 18-year-olds.

All right, so here I am with my wife Maria. She is training for her upcoming walk this Saturday to raise some money for Rady's Hospital for Children. She's going to be walking between, I guess a mile to four miles. And her goal is to raise $50,000. And Maria, who's this for? Hold on.
Stop for a second. You keep walking, I'll come around. Who's it for?
It's for the Spinal Research department at Rady's Children's Hospital in San Diego.
And why is it so interesting for you to be able to raise money for them?
Well, my own story is I had congenital scoliosis. I was born with a birth defect that was causing me to become paralyzed. And a lot of kind people were able to step in and help my parents with the cost of the surgery. And I just want to give back to my own community. And I work with the orthopedic department at Radies Children's Hospital, helping them with awareness and fundraising. And that's why I chose the Spinal Research Department.
And who's this going to benefit the most?
All the little kids, newborns to 18 year olds. So hopefully they won't have to go through the same thing that I went through.
And tell me, is it easy for.
You to walk or is it hard.
For you to walk?
I think I put it on a good face to make it seem like it's easy, but walking a mile is definitely going to be a challenge.
Well, I am so proud of you, my sweet, and you're doing such an amazing job, and it's a cause that we support, and I'm going to ask all of my friends around the world to support the cause.
Get your butt going.
You got to keep training.
Thanks for your support, friends.
All right, let's keep going. All right, so as you can see.
It'S a little hard for her, but.
Thank God she can walk because some wonderful doctors and people stepped up, helped her. We're here in our neighborhood and here's her training. So she's walking a mile for the kids, maybe two miles. Who knows, maybe four miles. And hey, friends, if you can help us out, help us donate some money, it's a great cause and appreciate all your help. Bye. Bye, now. All right, sweetie. Keep going.
