How to Make 2021 a Better Year For You

John Assaraf coaches on building 2021 by starting with a clear vision instead of letting current circumstances limit you. He focuses on radical honesty, developing character traits like discipline and resilience, and overcoming four barriers: lack of knowledge, mismatched self-image, limiting beliefs, and fear.

More show every Tuesday here, here on Facebook and on Instagram. Two cameras going. Just trying to be efficient. Actually, I'm streaming. Have any of you heard of Streamyard? I'm streaming on Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn. Let me know which channel you're on right now. Hi there. From India and Iran, Rose Marie. Rosa Marie. Nice to have you on. Hey, Donald from San Diego, Dan from Seattle. So 2021, one of the things I want to share something really, I think that'll make a lot of sense to you. Many years ago, when I was. Hey, Matt. When I was young and. Or younger, I'm still young, but younger and just learning about setting goals, achieving goals, circumstances and all that stuff. I learned something that was really, really, really important. And this is a worthwhile lesson for you to pay close attention to. So my first mentor said to me, most people look at their present circumstances or their past. Most people look at their present circumstances or their past, and they determine their future based on present circumstances or past. So they look at my knowledge, my skills, the amount of income I have, the marketplace, the. The virus, this or the that, and then they focus on what can I achieve in the next year, two years, three years, he says. But really intelligent people who achieve their goals first set the vision and the goals that they want, and then they figure out how to create the knowledge, the skills, the strategies, the tactics, the timelines, the tools and the resources. So one person looks at the past or the present and that controls their thinking. And another person looks at the future and they then figure out what do they need to believe, what do they need to do, who do they need to help them? Does that make sense? So as we're looking at 2021, it's just around the corner, right? 2020 is two weeks left. Everyone. 2020 is two weeks left, right? And so did you achieve your goals? Some yes, some no. Did the market challenge you more than you would like? Health, wise relationship, career, business, finances, charity, you know, whatever the circumstances where they were. So here's my first thing that I'd like to suggest you do if you want to be smart about your goals and what you're capable of achieving. I wrote down something over here and it's called True north. And my best selling book, Having It All. One of the things I learned many years ago is to first do a true north. Does anybody know what true north is? Does anybody know what's true north is? And Cheryl, if you don't know what your vision is yet, you better get started on that. Does anybody know what a true north is? True north. True north. Type in the answer. Let's do a little participation time here. Hi there, Pre. Hi there Maria. Hello there, Christina from Poland. Hi there, Joy. Right, so does anybody know what true north is? True north is this. Where are you really? Right. Where are you really right now? Where are you with having a clarity of your vision? Where are you with having clear and precise goals? Where are you all right in knowing the knowledge and skills that you need to achieve those goals? Where are you with the right habits? Where are you with the right team around you? Where are you okay, with the right resources around you? Where are you now? Health, wealth, relationships, career, business, finances, charity, fun experiences. Where are you right now? Stop lying to yourself and stop sticking your head in the sand, okay? Being afraid or worried of the truth. True north is all about radical honesty with yourself. You can't get anywhere unless you are willing to be radically honest with yourself without pay close attention, without judgment, blame, shame, guilt or justification. One more time. Without judgment, blame, shame, guilt or justification? Or are you willing to be honest with yourself? Are you willing to be honest with yourself? Because if you're not, in your stories, your reasons, your excuses, the blame game, the justification game, that is what's going to drive your life. And then guess what? I can promise you, you will live a Life of regret instead of a life of the results that you want. And Jim Rohn famously said, in life you will either pay the price of discipline or you will pay the price of regret. So can you be honest with yourself? Right? Can you look in the mirror and says, I'm really good at this, I'm not good at that. I need help with this. I don't need help with that. I can do this. I can't do that. Right? So that's number one. So let me know if you can, if you can be honest with yourself, type in, you know, John, I can be honest with myself. All right, we're not asking you to share it with the world, right? I'm not asking you to share it with the world. But what about honesty first? So true north number one. Okay? True north number one. All right. True north number one. And does that make sense? Can you be honest with yourself? And by the way, for those of you who want to have a little bit of fun tomorrow, I'm going to have a little party. Do you like parties? Do you like a party? I love a party. You know, Joe bw, you're super honest. And Vishal, great, right? So do you like a party? And Sally, I'm glad that you can be honest with yourself. It's okay to be honest with yourself. You can't move forward unless you're honest with yourself, right? So first and foremost, do you like a party? Because if you like a party, I'm going to have one tomorrow. I'm going to do a little 2021 kickoff party. And if you want to ask me any questions, my team's going to put a link up so you can sign up. I'm going to have like a little Zoom party and I'm going to let you ask me any questions you want on the Zoom party. I'll do a little bit of teaching, some stuff that I'm doing with many of my clients to help them achieve their goals this year, but also next year. And my team will put up a link for you. Join me for a party. It's going to be at 3pm Pacific Time tomorrow. We'll go, I don't know, an hour, two hours, three hours. It's like an end of year party. I don't mind this physical distancing stuff right now, but I want to make sure that we're not socially distancing. I don't like the term socially distant. You know, I like physical distance. I get right. Physical distance. Great. You know, I've got my, you know, my Little mask here, right? Got my little N95 when I need it. So I'm being careful with COVID here in the US it's going crazy. I'm not sure about the rest of the world, but tomorrow we're going to have a little party. So join me for the party. When you sign up, there'll also be a little document you could fill out on what questions you might have for me. And we're going to take a list of the questions and I'll answer a whole bunch of questions in real time tomorrow. So number two, you're going to be truly honest with yourself. And then here is the question. And Cheryl, you pointed out to this before is I'm not clear on my vision yet, right? I'm not clear on my vision. Do you have a vision for your life? Do you have a vision for your life? A vision that you've taken the time that is clear and precise, many of you know, right? I have my exceptional life blueprint that I've used for years. And you know, so I have. Let me just show you something that I have over here, right? I've got, you know, my outer mission, and these are some adjustments for this year. And then I've got my inner mission. Not intermission, but intermission. Everything that I do, everything that I teach starts with, hold on, let me get my brain over here. Understanding how does my brain and your brain work, right? And the first thing that you want to start off with is take the time to create a vision of what your life looks like. Health, wealth, relationships, career, business, fun experiences, et cetera. What does it look like? If you can create a vision that is clear, the Einstein part of your brain, otherwise known as that left prefrontal cortex, can actually help you create the how to achieve the goals. So remember earlier I shared that my mentor, my first mentor, says first you set the vision and goals that you want and then you figure out how to achieve it. First vision, then goals, then how, right? And what most people do, as I mentioned before, is they look at their current circumstances or their past and they allow that to control their thinking. When you own a, a 100 billion dollar brain. So if you want to really use your brain better, really, if you want to master your mindset, then guess what? Start off with a clear vision. Hey there, modern collective. How are you, Madame Smith? Right? So are you starting off with looking at your resources and having that control your thinking or pay close attention? Pay close attention. Are you focusing on being resourceful? Which one are you looking at? Your current Resources and that controls your thinking? Or are you being resourceful? The people who achieve their goals and dreams become resourceful in the absence of resources. Does that make sense? Does that make sense? All right, think about this. Imagine for just a moment that you had a child, okay? If you have children, great. If you don't have children, imagine you have children or your brother or your sister or your best friend has a child. And I want you to imagine that that child is sick. Now, just for a moment, I don't want this to be true for anybody, but imagine that child is sick and you have to raise money for surgery or that child will die. You don't have money. Let's say you're broke. You don't have any money, but you're broke, okay? Would you become resourceful to earn, get, find the money if a child needed it for surgery? Would you become resourceful? Would you upgrade your knowledge? Would you upgrade your skills? Would you ask people, would you do things out of the ordinary? And Jason, you say you'd find a way, right? You'd find a way. So even in the absence of resources, when we challenge ourselves to level up our expectation and our game, we become resourceful. So that means that the, the Resourcefulness technique tool gene within you is in you, right? So you cannot, must not, should not look at your resources and allow that to control your thinking. Because you're selling yourself short. Now, you don't want to sell yourself short. You want to achieve your health goals, your relationship goals, your career goals, your business goals, your charitable goals, your fun and experience goals, right? So when we are looking at, you know, how to make 2021 your best year ever, why not start off with my vision, right? Here's the vision that I have. Here's what I would love to see. I don't know how to achieve yet, but I would love to see that. I would love to achieve that. And don't use your current circumstances as the basis for what your vision would be and should be and could be like, right? So why not become the person capable of achieving her goals and dreams, right? Become that person that can achieve the goals and dreams, right? So does that make sense so far? And by the way, if you just join me, I'm going to do a little Ask me anything kickoff party tomorrow at 3 o', clock, San Diego time. It's free. We're going to do a little Zoom fun party. So you can join me for that if you like. We have these little parties, you know, two, three times a month. And so join me have any of you joined any of my little zoom sessions where I answer questions? If you haven't, join. We have a lot of fun. Bring a glass of wine if you want, or, you know, beer or a juice or coffee or a tea. And so join us. It's a little kickoff rally for tomorrow, Right? Okay, so I've got a couple other things. Here is the question that I want you to ask yourself. What are two character traits? What are two character traits of the person that can achieve the goals and dreams that you have? What are two of the character traits of the type of person that can achieve the goals and dreams that you want? Right. What are the two character traits of the person that can achieve the goals and dreams that you want? So Rosa says discipline and resilience. And Anikita, if you look in my bio on Instagram, there should be a link there. So what are the two character traits? Type it in. Type into that. Determination and conviction. Yeah. So discipline, resilience, determination, conviction. Olivia says focus, consistency, A winner. Mindset, even visionary. Courageous. Self driven, Motivated. Do you have those character traits? Do you have the character traits? Tanmei. Strong belief. Taking risks. Do you have those character traits? Have you ever shown those character traits? When you've really wanted something. Have you ever shown those character traits? Hey, Antoine. Right. Fearless. Discipline. Clarity. Determination. Passion. Clear minded. Right. So, absolutely there are character traits that either you have naturally or you can develop. Right? You can develop every one of these character traits. You can develop self confidence. You can develop a persistency. You can develop resiliency. You can develop fearlessness. Not fearless. Fearlessness. Giselle. Determination. Right. Discipline and passionate. Right. So, Crystal, if you don't think so, then guess what? It starts off with your belief. Hey there, Maggie. Patience, persistent politeness. The three P's, Right? There's also the other three P's, Maggie. PPP equals ppp. That's piss poor planning equals piss poor performance. Right, Maggie? So what are some of the character traits to be able to achieve those goals? Ambitious. Absolutely. So, Stuart Biddleson. Yeah. Goal and taking action. So we know what we need in order to achieve the goals that we have, right? We know what we need to think and feel and do and plan. And so the question is, what may be getting in your way? Also, we can discuss some of that tomorrow if you want. There's only four things that can get in your way. So only four things that can get in your way right now, right? Hey, Leonidas. Know your why be resilient. There's only four things that can get in Your way. Either you're lacking the knowledge and the skill, which, guess what, we can overcome that by getting the knowledge and skill, Right? We all have access to, obviously, cell phones, iPads, mobile phones. We can Google, we can buy books, we can buy courses, we can go to YouTube. We can find the knowledge and the skill, right? So that's one. Can anybody else guess number two and three? Right? So Joan Peters, you say self sabotage gets in the way, but what's causing the self sabotage? Joan? Self sabotage is not the problem. Self sabotage, okay, is an effect. So Josie says fear of success, right? What about fear of failure? Anybody have fear of failure? Anybody have fear of failure? What are the four things that can get in the way? Insecurity. We catch fear flights, right? So insecurity. But what causes insecurity? Somebody just said, you know, limiting beliefs. Do limiting beliefs get in the way? Right. OM says lack of discipline. I'm going to challenge you, OM to suggest that discipline is not the problem. You are 100% disciplined to your current thoughts, emotions, feelings, sensations and behaviors. Okay, somebody write this down. I'm going to give you a little gem. Okay? I'll give you the. I'll give you the four. All right, Somebody write this down. In life, you're either going to master disappointment or you're going to master change. In life, you're either going to master disappointment or you're going to master change. Mastering disappointment means you're going to be okay not achieving your goals. You're going to be okay settling for less than you're capable of. Mastering disappointment means you're just going to accept what is and not give it your best effort to change. But if you learn how to master change, how to change your limiting beliefs into empowering beliefs. How to change your fears from fears that hold you back to fears that fuel you. How to change. What else do we have? How to change your lack of knowledge and skills to having the knowledge and skills that you need to achieve your goals. And then how to change your low self image of yourself to one that is empowered, worthy of the success she or he deserves. So there's four things that are going to hold you back. You're lacking the knowledge and skills. That's creating stress. That's reducing your motivation. That's creating uncertainty, that's creating anxiety so you don't take action. That's one. Two. Your self image doesn't match the vision and goals you have for your life, so you will self sabotage. 3. You have limiting beliefs. I'm not smart enough, not good enough. Too young, too old. I live in Pakistan or India or in the United States or Antarctica or Africa. Therefore, I can't. And then we have fears. Fear of success, fear of failure, fear of not being good enough. Fear of disappointment. If I try my best and I fail, I might be embarrassed or ashamed or ridiculed and judged. Every one of those four things that I just shared, you are in control of learning how to overcome it. If you are consistent in keeping your current identity and your current self image intact and you are willing or you're not willing to change, you will be very disappointed in life. My job as your coach is not to tell you what you want to hear. My job is to tell you what you need to hear. You want the truth? Keep coming back, you know, to this. Keep being in the environment of, you know, my company, MyNeuro gym.com and our show. But when you settle, when you allow yourself, okay, to be in your comfort zone without change, then you're setting yourself up for mismatched expectations. All right, so 2021, how do you achieve your goals? We started off early by saying, be honest with yourself. Radical honesty. True north. Your knowledge, your skills, your tools, your resources, your planning, your vision or lack thereof. Right? Be truthful with you. The person in the mirror, the most important person you're ever going to have a conversation with. You want to hide from yourself. You're going to be a victim of somebody else's plans who wants to spend more time being honest and truthful to get yourself, your vision clear. Clear, clear, clear, clear. All of the how to achieve every goal you have. All the how to already exists, but you have to be willing to change. Because if you're not willing to change, nothing will change. Things will either get worse or stay the same, which is actually a fallacy. Because in this universe, nothing ever stays the same. Nothing ever rests. We are either in a state of creation or disintegration. There is nothing in the field of energy that stays the same. Create or disintegrate. Which are you doing? Are you creating manifest being? What in the world is going on? I don't understand. Sorry, my video paused for just a second. Right. So create or disintegrate. Does that make sense? Listen, if you have some questions you want to help with, you want some help with some of your specific questions? Tomorrow I'm going to be doing a little. Little kickoff party for 2021, right? So, kickoff party for 2021. If you want to join me in on Instagram, there's a link up in the. In in the chat on all the other channels I'm streaming on right now.
