John Assaraf- How & Why Your Insecurities Hold YOU Back

John Assaraf explains how insecurities like feeling not smart enough are neurological protection patterns from past events that block your goals. He describes a "tripping circuit" that triggers these responses and recommends reframing past events and retraining your brain to break free from them.

Hey, this is John Assaraf. And in the last several weeks, we've been doing a whole bunch of surveys of over 90,000 people to find out what's really holding them back from achieving the life success that they really want. The finances, the travel, the charitable donations they want to give, and the time that they want to spend doing the things that they love. And one of the things that keeps coming up over and over again is. Is insecurities. And so things like I'm not smart enough or I'm not good enough to achieve the success that I want. I don't deserve the success that I have visions for in my mind. I don't have the skills or the knowledge to achieve the success that I want. I lack the confidence and certainty in myself. When we talk about insecurities or when I hear people talk about insecurities, what I look for is what's causing somebody's insecurities. Obviously, security means that you feel secure in whatever it is you're doing or wanting. Insecurity is where you're missing something to get you to move forward and take action towards what it is that you want. In either case, it's a neurological happening. And what I mean by that is an emotion of insecurity is in the most part caused by something that's happened in the past. And so for some people, insecurities, because they don't have the knowledge or the skills, or they tried something before and they failed. And the meaning that they gave the failure has caused an insecurity with themselves. Now, what I can share with you is whenever somebody has doubts or insecurities in themselves, it's nothing more than a neurological pattern that holds them back as a protection mechanism not to get hurt. What do I mean by that? Well, the brain has this tripping circuit. And the tripping circuit certainly is something that most people have never heard about. The tripping circuit is no different than what happens in your home. When there's too much power being used by your power supply, it trips the circuit. Well, when you feel insecure in yourself, your brain trips the circuit and causes you to basically move back into your comfort zone. So that you don't expend more energy doing what it is that you should be or could be doing. Every single person has insecurities. The person who learns how to feel the emotion of insecurity. And learns how to reframe whatever has happened in the past that's caused the insecurity. And retrain their brain to have more confidence and certainty in themselves and in their ability, in addition to surrounding themselves with people who have the specialized knowledge that they may be lacking, is able to move past their own insecurities. Now, insecurities, like a muscle in the brain, you can train yourself to become more secure a little bit at a time. But the first part is to recognize and be honest with yourself. What is an insecurity or two or three that you have in yourself. Then from there you create a new vision for relationship relieving that insecurity or removing that insecurity and creating a path or a pattern in the brain to develop the security muscle. If you want to find out more about how to identify the insecurities that are holding you back from really achieving your life's best financially, spiritually, emotionally, charitably, physically, relationship wise.
