Hey, everybody. This is John Assraf, and with me is my lovely, amazing wife, Maria. And first and foremost, I want to thank all of you who made a donation, small or big, to helping Rady's Children's Hospital, specifically the spinal research area, which is the area that Maria supports. And she is on the board helping children and really making a big difference in their lives. And I thought I'd take maybe two minutes to interview her so you can understand why she's raising money for these wonderful little children. So, hi, honey.
Hi, sweetheart.
And so why specifically are you raising money for Rady's Children's Hospital and these beautiful little children that may have some challenges? Say hi to everybody there.
Hi, friends. Well, I was born with a birth defect that was causing me to become paralyzed, and I had several surgeries from the age of one to five. And the cost was just outrageous for my family. And my family really needed assistance, and there was people back then to help them. And it's my way of giving back. And I want to make sure that no family has to go through what my family went through. So that's why I'll be walking on October 1st at SeaWorld. And I'd love to have your support by coming and joining the walk with us or making a donation online.
And that's amazing. Last year, she raised $40,000 from people just like you who really, you know, this touched their heart. What you may not know is Maria is 4 foot 9, about 95 pounds. I'm 6 3, 205 pounds now. And she walks with a limp because of the challenges she had as a child. And she has just made the most out of her life with confidence and certainty and really has a normal life today. And just seeing her grow up because she had the help that she needed back then really inspires me to want to give. And so we give of our time, we give of our money as well. And we're asking you to help as well. Doesn't matter if it's a dollar or a million dollars. Help wherever you can. And let's make the difference in the lives of some wonderful children at Rady's Hospital that, you know, they do work for kids. They don't charge kids who can't afford it. And she's going to be walking a mile, which is hard for her. And so she trains. She's going to be walking a mile just to raise some money for the kids. And our goal this year is $50,000. 5 0. And we're halfway there, and we've got just a little bit more time before she actually walks. So thank you all so very much.
And I believe you need to click on the note part of your Facebook page.
So click. Yeah, click on the note part of your Facebook page and there'll be a link where you can donate. And I think we're gonna just have a lot of fun together. And we'll send you some pictures after the walk. If you can't join us, thank you so much than.
