Powerful Tool to Succeed in Business and Life

John Assaraf (speaking from Malibu) argues that people over-focus on goals and under-develop repeatable processes to achieve them. He advises choosing one goal, mapping an explicit step-by-step process (research, funding, structure, etc.), and tapping existing books, mentors and systems when needed. He illustrates with a private client (construction company) whom he helped define a 5-year vision and immediate process steps (research, raise money), producing renewed excitement and forward action. The clip closes with a community CTA and casual beach outro.

A lot of people focus too much on the goal and not enough on the process. And my personal belief, as you probably know by now, is that all of the how to achieve any goal in health, wealth, relationships, career, business, every goal that we want to achieve, somebody's already done it. Hello there from Malibu, California. And every Friday I do a little training based on an idea, a thought, technique, something to percolate some thoughts and ideas for you to help you achieve your goals and dreams faster and easier than ever before. And I'm on vacation right now, which means I've got lots of time to think and meditate and be still and feel. And something that I want to share with you that came up as a result of some training that I did, live training I did the other day for people that are in my 100 days to financial Success program was around process. And let me explain, whenever I work with my $5,000 an hour clients or clients in other programs, including this one, one of the things that I like to ask and also show people how to do, excuse me, is develop processes. So if you want to build a business or write a book or lose weight and keep it off, if you want to have a better relationship, if you want to do anything in life, a lot of people focus too much on the goal and not enough on the process. And my personal belief, as you probably know by now, is that all of the how to achieve any goal in health, wealth, relationships, career, business, every goal that we want to achieve, somebody's already done it. Unless you're trying to colonize Mars, for example. So what I'd love for you to do this weekend and if you watch this video, another time in over a course of 24 hour period, take one goal that you want to achieve and ask yourself this question, what's the process I'm using to achieve it? And here's what you may discover. You don't really have one. You're winging it. You're randomly doing things without much thought in advance to what the research that needs to be done is to what step one is, step two is, step three is, step four is, and step five is. And so I'll give you a very real life example that happened just yesterday. One of my private clients who is paying me 5,000 doll dollars an hour to help him grow his construction company wants to build his company to $100 million. And he's right around 4 million right now. And he hasn't been successful in getting it there for many, many years. He's been in the construction business for 28 years. And so the first thing we did yesterday in our first call was develop the vision for what does it actually look like upon completion. So I helped him create the end result. He could share it with investors, he could share it with his wife, his children, his employees, so they know exactly what it looks like upon completion. So once we got that out of the way and we said, that's like five years down the road, I asked him, what do you think the first two or three steps are? And after a little bit of thinking, you know, he said, well, I should probably do some research around this area that I want to buy real estate in and develop. So I should do research on, you know, how much are buildings costing right now? What are the vacancy rates? What could you expect after you renovate a building? How many other buildings are for sale? And so basically the first part was all the research to upgrade his knowledge and skill and awareness around this specific real estate project he was interested in. And then we realized, you know, that he didn't have his enough of his own money to do this deal. So the second thing that he would have to do if he's serious about the end vision, is he would have to raise money. And he really has never done that. He's built his business on his own. And so we quickly determined that he really needs to understand, you know, what's the best structure for him to raise money. And his wife is an attorney, and a friend of mine is an attorney as well, who specializes in raising money and creating business structures, whether it's limited partnerships or general partnerships, etc. And we determined that was the second step. And so he said, what's step three and step four? I said, it really doesn't matter. Let's just focus on the process to get step one done and the process to get step two done. So yesterday he started the research, called his Caldwell banker agent. I got him on the phone with one of my friends who's done this many, many times over. And I got an email from him this morning saying, oh, my God, John, I have not been this excited in years. Is I can finally see I was just going about achieving the goal the wrong way. And so what I want you to ask yourself is, are you going about achieving your goals the wrong way? Do you have a process? Are there things that you need help with? And if you need help, that's perfectly okay. Help is here. There are books, coaches, mentors, systems, processes that you can already tap into if you don't know what you don't know. Alright, so I want you to write down a goal. Write down what is your process for achieving that goal and why don't you post it in this community? Just put like step one, step two, step three, and then let's get everybody in this community to mastermind and chime in to offer ideas, suggestions, tools and resources to help you. All right? I hope you have a great weekend. I'm gonna just chill out here on the beach in Malibu and get a little bit of sunshine. When it comes up, it's a little cloud today. It was beautiful yesterday. I'll go for some nice walks along the beach. I'll take, I'll show you a little, you know, just looking on the beach. Oh, there. I'll take my tripod. Look at that. Just beautiful, beautiful, beautiful that side and beautiful on that side. Whoa. All right, have an awesome day. Bye. Bye. Hey, this is John, and if you liked that video, watch the next video because it is packed with things that you can do right now to achieve success way faster than ever before.
