A short motivational vlog by John Assaraf addressing why people procrastinate and offering a simple daily routine to overcome it. Assaraf identifies two main causes—habitually doing low-value tasks first and insecurity/perfectionism—and prescribes that each morning you list the three highest-income or highest-impact tasks and commit to completing them by 12:00 PM to build productive habits and reduce procrastination.

Hey, this John Assaroff with another video blog for you. Now here's a funny question for you. Do you procrastinate? Now I know you think that's funny and obviously the answer is of course you procrastinate. I procrastinate, My mom procrastinates. Everybody procrastinates. The question is, why do we choose low value or low income or low impact producing activities instead of the high impact, high income, high value producing activities every single day? Well, the answer is twofold. Number one, it's because we've gotten into the habit of doing the small, menial, unimportant things first thinking that being busy is the same as being productive. That's number one. Number two, in most cases procrastination is caused by insecurity. Us either not knowing what steps to take, us not feeling like we are smart enough or good enough, or us feeling that we have to wait for everything to be perfect before we really get busy and do it. The truth of the matter is those are all lies. They're rational lies, but they're all lies. What I want you to do from now on is every morning when you wake up, before you answer email, before you return any phone calls, make a short list of the three most important things that are either highest income for you or highest impact. Meaning it's going to give you the biggest impact when you get that done, on your productivity. So three things every day and make a commitment, which means to cut off from any other option to get those three things done by 12 o' clock every day. When you develop that new habit, you will then become somebody who not only talks a big talk, which I hope you do, but you actually back it up with the actions required in order to achieve the success you want to achieve. What I've learned over a lot of years is that it's not the smartest people who achieve success, it's the people who procrastinate less, make fewer excuses as they take actions every day towards the goals that they want to achieve. I hope you've enjoyed this and there's many more to come.
