The Fear Zone

John Assaraf explains how the brain creates resistance when you chase goals, pulling you back to safety with doubt and overwhelm. He walks through five steps to push through: recognize the resistance, own your thoughts, reframe what overwhelm means, wait out the emotion (it lasts about 90 seconds), and retrain your brain with new habits.

Hey everybody, Jon Nastrar here. I hope you're having an amazing day. And I wanted to talk to you about something that you may be experiencing right now. It's what I call is the fear zone. Now what's the fear zone? Whenever you get into a program like this, like winning the game of money or business or fear, any program that really starts to move you towards the direction of your goals and dreams, what does your brain do? Well, it starts to feel the change. And what is the first thing that your brain does when it starts to feel change? It tries to get you to retreat, to move back into your safety zone. So out of the fear zone, you want to go back to your safety zone. What's the safety zone? Well, it's more of what you've had in the past. And so how does your brain get you to stay stuck, stuck and in your safety or comfort zone? Well, it causes you to have doubts. It causes you to be overwhelmed. It causes you to rationalize or basically tell yourself rational lies. Why? There's too much work, it's too hard. I don't know if this is right for me. If you're experiencing that, then guess what you have to do. You have to become aware of, of the negative self. Talk of your brain's desire to keep you in your comfort zone. And there's a five step process that we teach in all of our programs. Number one is recognize, become aware. Number two is to take responsibility for the thoughts that you're having. Most people's thoughts are negative, especially when they get out of their comfort zones and they want to get back into their comfort zones. Number three is reframe the meaning of what's happening. Understand that overwhelm just means that your brain is gaining a lot of information and it doesn't know how to organize it consciously. So with overwhelm, just take it one day at a time and take one little chunk and piece of it at a time. Now the other thing that happens when you're feeling frustrated is your brain searching for answers. And if your brain's searching for answers, it's out of its comfort zone. And remember, the brain wants to be maximally efficient and use as little as energy as possible. It wants to gain pleasure, but not at the expense of the switch, cost or change or going through the next level of your organization of your brain. So you want to recognize, you want to take responsibility. Then you want to reframe your emotions and your experiencing to say, hey, I feel overwhelmed. And that's my brain looking to reorganize itself. I feel frustrated, and that's my brain searching for answers. I feel like quitting, but I've done that before. I'm going to continue. Now, the fourth part is to remember that every emotion lasts 90 seconds to a minute, to 90 seconds to a minute. That was funny. 90 seconds to two or three minutes. What you've got to do is stop and just release. Allow the emotion to flow through like a wave will gently roll in and then the tide will go back out. Ride the emotional wave, but don't buy into it, especially if it's an unpleasant feeling. And then number five, the fifth R is your retraining of your brain. You're getting yourself to learn new habits, new beliefs, take new actions. And for some people, that's a lot more than you've done in the past. And so you're going to meet resistance. And if you're meeting resistance, then guess what you're going to want to do. Do what you're comfortable with. If you do what you're comfortable with, what I can guarantee you is you're going to get more of the same. And in a day or 30 days or six days, or nine days, you'll be buying another program, hoping that it works. And as soon as it gets tough, you're going to bail on that. And so this is the most powerful program you have ever bought with amazing support. People who care about you, people who love you, me included, that really want to help you get past your comfort zone, past your fear barrier, and into your safety zone at the next level of security and significance. So make sure you're in the community, communicate with me, with the other members, with our team, and share your experience with us. It's perfectly normal to feel what you're feeling, but I want you to do is have the discipline to. To forge forward and make the most out of this program right now.
