Understanding Money So You Can Make More Of It

John Assaraf argues that making more money starts with your internal money story. Self-worth and efficacy are the cornerstone: you need to believe you deserve wealth and have the skills to deliver value. Fear blocks both, so consistent action and upgrading your beliefs matter more than waiting for the right opportunity.

Change your money story. Let go of the limiting beliefs that are holding you back. Let go of the disempowering emotions. Let go of the behaviors that suck your time and cause you to do what? Be less productive than you can be every single day. Alright, good morning everyone in the cyber world. John Assraf here, and I hope you're having an amazing day. One of the things that always comes up when I talk to people about their goals and dreams and the lifestyle that they want to live is how can they do it, how can they achieve it? Instead of having goals and dreams and relying on just having goals and dreams and prayers, I'm always trying to figure out how to, how to let go of my doubts, fears, anxieties, lack of confidence, lack of certainty. And how do you get more confidence, more certainty and really focus on that. So here's a question that I want to ask everybody right now and the topic that we're doing today is all about how to understand money. You know, hold on, let me see if I got some in here. How do you understand money? Right. 100, 200, 300, 400, I don't know. This is, what is this? This is paper, paper, paper, paper, paper. That's all it is, it represents money, which we'll talk about in just a few moments. But how do you understand this stuff so you can make so much of it so that you can give more to charities, so you can have more time off for your hobbies, so you can do what? Have more peace of mind, Have a little bit more discretionary income, so you can have more fun, so you can take more time off, you can travel the world, you can experience whatever it is that makes that heart of yours sing. So, okay, I've got a few slides I'm going to show you as well. But let's participate and let's have a little bit of fun. I've got about 27 minutes to give you some killer concepts and understanding what is money? So what is money? Let me help you understand money first and then we're going to move to how to make tons of it. And I'll also give you a way to watch one of my training videos on making more by getting rid of the mental and emotional obstacles to hold you back. But if you go back in time, humans have been on this earth for about two and a half million years. Not Homo sapiens, but homo erectus, Neanderthals, etc. All the human species, two and a half million years. They were foragers and hunters and gatherers initially and then as the tribes separated to form different types of tribes, some were really good at foraging for different plants, for different types of herbs, for different types of food. Others were really good hunters or hunters, not hunters. And what they started to do in amongst and between the tribes, where they started to exchange grains for meat, mushrooms for other types of plants or food sources. And so the initial concept around money was just a means of exchange to help each other out. And as villagers, okay, the tribes move further away, okay, they started to exchange livestock, they exchanged shells, they exchanged grains, they exchanged a variety, chocolates, even chocolates were means of exchange. And as people started to move further and further away from each other, they actually started to develop coins. And the first coins had what, a cow impression on it. And when coins became too heavy to carry because values went up, then we went to paper. You know, that green paper or whatever color paper you know your currency is in is what we developed. And then we just developed electronic means of, of exchange. A value system is what money really is. And if I could just put up my first PowerPoint. And so if you think about what is money, I'm going to take you from the beginning all the way to the end, okay? If you think about what is money, okay? And I'm going to show you this little PowerPoint right over here. All right? Money is an idea. Idea. It's a means of exchange. It's abundant and everywhere. It's a tool and a resource. And what money does is it gives you choices and options. And really what money is, it's just another form of energy that's a means of exchange. It's an energetic exchange. So first and foremost, I want you to understand and think there is no shortage of, of money. Money is everywhere. It's abundant. It is filling all space and time. So I want you to shift your thinking from there's not enough of it to there's an abundant of it. It's a means of exchange. And how do I create for myself more of it so that I could exchange more with other people for the things that I want to exchange it for? Does that make sense? Okay. Does that make sense? First and foremost is just understanding money at the highest level of being. Let me share something with you that all the latest neuropsychologists and neuroscientists are reading. And as you know, if money is a concept, if money is an idea, if money is energy, then it's. Something's happening in here that's helping you either resonate with it or repel it. But if money is a means of exchange, I want you to understand something. First and foremost, your boss does not pay you. The company you work for does not pay you. You get paid indirect proportion to the value you bring to the marketplace in exchange for money. Let me repeat that. Your boss doesn't pay you, your company doesn't pay you. You get paid in the marketplace based on the value that you bring to the marketplace. The more rare you are, the more you can charge, the more knowledge, skill and expertise that you bring to the marketplace, the more you can earn and make. So if you have a business, you better get good at marketing and sales. If you have a job, you better become outstanding so that you can command the highest amount of money for what it is that you do. But you can also learn how to take money and put money to work for you. We're going to get that into that for a moment. So let me share something with you that is paramount and critical to your financial success. Okay, Let me make you very, very clear about something. Everybody, everybody has a money story. It's the thing that you tell yourself about how much you can worth, how much you are worth, how much are you worth in the marketplace? And there's two types of stories you tell yourself. You tell yourself a story about what you think you're worth, but then there is the hidden story of what you really believe you're worth. So let me share with you another slide. It's called the cornerstone, okay, of your money story. And the cornerstone, your money story. If we can show that. Please chase. The cornerstone, okay, of your money story is your self worth and your efficacy. Your self worth and your efficacy. So what is that? Well, self worth is what you believe you are worth in the market. And efficacy is all about your skills and your abilities to accomplish something. So if you feel that you can accomplish something because you have the knowledge, you have the skills, you have the ability, then you're going to have a higher level of belief in the marketplace. But if you, you have counter beliefs that say you're not good enough, you're not smart enough, you're not deserving enough, you are going to polarize yourself around that. So your beliefs and your habits around money is your Persona. Persona just means what if you think about what is a mask? A mask, okay, is a Persona. It's a mask that we put on ourselves. And, and so people who earn a lot of money have, okay, a Persona, a belief that they can achieve more, they will achieve more, they know how to, they have the knowledge and the skills and they have the habits to achieving more money. So that means that one of the things that you need to do in order to earn more money is ask yourself this question. Question how can I take my product, my knowledge, my skills, my abilities and bring it to the marketplace? So one or ten or a hundred or a million people will exchange their money with me for that knowledge, skill, product or service that I have. And so when you start thinking about money as a means of exchange, but also from that looking at your self worth and your knowledge and your skills, that is the beginning of changing what you are able to earn in the marketplace. Does this make sense so far? Because before I continue to a couple more things around, around your skills and showing you another chart that I have, which is a really, really, really important chart. Let me know if this makes sense, all right? Does this make sense? All right? Because I think it does. But let me just make sure that that makes sense, all right? Because it's the marketplace that's paying you. If you have a job, you're getting paid based on what that job is worth, worth in the marketplace. You want to make more money at work, you have to increase your value to the company. If you want to make more money in your business, you have to get better at getting your message, your product, your service and the benefits of it to many, many more people in the marketplace. So if you don't have the knowledge or the skills of how to do that, you are going to be limited. And if you feel limited, that's going to affect your self worth and your Persona of how you show up in the marketplace. Because it's the marketplace that pays you. And the marketplace has a value. A grain is worth X. A diamond is worth Y. A very expensive rare painting is worth Z. A certain type of yacht is worth X. A rowboat is worth Y. The marketplace determines value. You have to determine where you fit into the marketplace. And there are two things. You have to work on your knowledge and skills to rise above the other people in the marketplace who are offering and have what you have. What makes somebody better than somebody else at something? Knowledge, skills, expertise. And you have to make a decision, what level of the money game do you, you want to play? Do you want to play at the grade school level, high school level, university level, or at the pro level? If you just use sports or knitting or chess as an example, people with different levels of skills play at higher levels of the game. And so if you want to understand how to make boatloads of money, you have to understand the Inner game, your beliefs, your perceptions, your values, your habits. You have to understand what is it that holds you back? What is it that drives you forward? I'm going to get into that for just a moment. But you have to raise your level of awareness of the game, the rules of the game, and your knowledge and your skills. And you have to raise your deservability score. Let me repeat that. You have to raise your deservability score. What you believe you really in your heart, not, you know, haphazardly, but in your heart. You have to raise what you believe you're worth. And how do you do that? You figure out how do you bring more value in the marketplace? How do you bring more value to your employer? You know, I want to share something with you. Many of you know I've built some fairly successful companies. I've had as many as a thousand five hundred salespeople at ReMax of Indiana Bamboo. We grew to a thousand two hundred people. And I want you to imagine this scenario. Let's say you work for a company and the company has to lay off people. Does the company lay off people that are outstanding at helping the company succeed? No. The company thinks about which individuals do they let go of first because they're marginal players or they're good or they're above average. But a company always keeps the best players to help them achieve their goals. That's on a company level. If you have a business of your own and you have to downsize or you have to hire, aren't you always downsizing, okay, based on who you need the least at that time? And aren't you always trying to hire who you need the most to help you achieve the goals you have in your head at that time? Absolutely. And so when you take a look at your abilities, okay, on this chart, you have to figure out how every day, every day, you're upgrading your knowledge and your skill and your behaviors to create an impact in the marketplace. That's one. But then obviously there's learning how to invest. Whether it's in the stock market or learn how to invest in a business or learn how to invest in gold or in commodities. Those are other skills that you either have to learn or you have to learn how to employ other people to put your money to work for you or your knowledge to work for you. So just understand there's no zero, none, no shortage of money. You have to learn how to get yourself into the game and play at a higher level. Here's the other thing I want you to be aware of is a lot of people say, I don't have the resources. I don't have the money to make money. I don't have the time, okay, to upgrade my knowledge or my skills. Those are your stories. Those are your excuses. You have to learn how to be resourceful. You have 86,400 seconds in a day. Are you using. Those are. Upgrade your knowledge, upgrade your skills, upgrade your habits, because your habits drive your behavior. And so you really have to get good at the inner game of money as you upgrade your knowledge and skills. So you play the outer game as well. How many of you agree that there's two games we're playing? The inner game and the outer game, the inner game inside your beliefs, your habits, perceptions, and what else? All right. Inner game, outer game of behavior, outer game of what to do. All right. And so how do you make boatloads of money? Let me show you. All right. Something. And I want to talk about your money story. One of my dear friends, Dr. David Krueger, and I have been discussing the money story for several years now. A couple years now. And what's the money story? Your money story is a story you tell yourself about what you're earning, a story you're telling yourself about how smart you are and how that leads to what you're earning. Or a money story is all of the outlining stories, the plot lines and the themes, and how you make decisions, decisions every day. See, I learned many, many years ago to do something a little bit differently than most people. Most people take a look at their education, their knowledge, their skills, their circumstances, the amount of money they have in the bank. They take a look at what they've done in the past. Then they make decisions about what they can do today, in a month, next week, or in six months. And so they're allowing their present circumstances and story to dictate their current behavior and future behavior. What if you change that? What if you ask yourself this question. What kind of lifestyle do I want to live? What kind of trips do I want to take? What kind of car do I want to drive? How much money would I like to give to charities? How much time would I like to give to the charities of my choice? What are the hobbies I would like to do? How many hours a week would I want to work? What's the lifestyle I want to live? And then ask yourself, what's the money story I have to tell myself and learn in order to achieve that lifestyle? Instead of looking at your current resources, spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical resources, why not figure out what is it that you want to achieve and then create the story to make that a reality. If money is nothing more than a means of exchange, or if money is. Is something that you can earn through investing or sharing your knowledge or your skills with other people, why not create the money story in here first? That includes looking at what beliefs do you have right now that are holding you back. Do you have beliefs that you're not good enough, not smart enough, not skilled enough, not worthy enough? Do you have fears? Do you have fears of such a success and then failing? Do you have fears of failing? Do you have fears of disappointing yourself or others? One more time. Do you have mental blockages, okay, that are holding you back? Do you have emotional blockages that are holding you back? Because if you do, and I guarantee you you do, because I do and everybody else does, unless you understand how to recognize them, analyze them, and release them them, you will be stuck for long periods of time. And that's not what you want, right? Frozen in fear. You're not an iceberg, my dear. Fear is an emotion that happens at the non conscious, non conscious level, okay, of the brain that gives rise to a feeling and a sensation called an unpleasant sensation, we know as fear. When fear activates the sympathetic nerves, nervous system in the brain, the fight or flight. I lost one of my nodes over here, but the fight or flight response mechanism in the brain kicks in. All right? And when the fight or flight piece kicks in, the motivational brake goes on. And guess what? If you're not motivated, then you have deactivated the left prefrontal cortex. And guess what? Right prefrontal cortex activates. And all of the potential negative consequences that you're thinking about at a non conscious level are ruling your brain. And when that's ruling your brain, you will be frozen in fear. So first thing for you is that if fear is holding you back and causing you to freeze, when would now be a great time to learn more about your emotions? Fear is an emotion. There's 50 different types of fear. Fear, failure, fear of success, fear of disappointment, fear of being embarrassed, fear of being ashamed, fear of being ridiculed. I can go on and on and on. Fear is an emotion that's happening at a non conscious level, gives rise to a feeling, but it activates certain parts of your brain that if you don't learn how to navigate it and manage it, you will always be ruled by fear. And somebody who's always ruled by fear never achieves his or her potential. And I want you to Achieve your potential. I want to go through this with you. All right, it's on the screen. Chase, can you leave that on the screen for a moment or so? So I want you to take a look at this little diagram. So on the left at the high point is high self worth. These are people that just feel that they deserve and are worthy of success. They don't question whether they are worth, worthy of success. The people at the lower end of the scale, okay, so high self worth, low self worth, they don't feel like they're worthy of success. So here's a question for you. If somebody feels like they're worthy, and I'm not talking about superficial emotions, I'm not talking about superficial beliefs. I talk about, I know I'm worth it. My value in the marketplace is strong. I have enormous amount of knowledge and skill, and I feel like I bring in a lot of value to the marketplace with my product, my service, my knowledge, or my skill. So there are people, high self worth, low self worth. But now let's look at the other side of the scale. High efficacy, low efficacy, high efficacy, low efficacy. Okay? So I'm trying to show this to all of you. If you want to copy this, just go to my Facebook fan page. Okay? But if you take a look at high efficacy, these are people that are totally capable of achieving the goals of success they want. They have the knowledge, they have the skills, and they have the habits. Knowledge and skills are not enough. The habits, the ability to take consistent action on the knowledge and skills you have is what determines success. And then low efficacy cannot achieve high levels of success because they just don't have the knowledge or the skills or the habits. And so think about this. Somebody who has high self worth but low efficacy. So the top left part of the quadrant and the bottom right. So high, high self worth, but low efficacy, low knowledge, skills or habits. They're always telling everybody else what they should do. Okay? They're always telling somebody, but they're not doing it for themselves. Somebody with high efficacy and high self worth, they earn almost any amount of money they want. Why? Because they feel they're worth it. They have the right beliefs, they have the right perceptions, they have the right knowledge, they have the right skills, and they could write their own ticket. So many years ago, my mentor shared with me, okay, that every day, every day, I should invest between 30 minutes to one hour a day, upgrading my knowledge and skills and upgrading my belief and my self worth, upgrading my knowledge and skills and upgrading my beliefs and self, self worth. So it will match the goals, the dreams, the income, the lifestyle that I choose to have. I learned to choose the lifestyle that I want to have. Health, wealth, relationships, career, business, fun, experiences, charity, etc. And then ask myself, who do I need to become? What do I need to learn? What do I need to upgrade? Whose help do I need? What books do I need? What CDs do I need? What audios do I need? How do I upgrade my knowledge and skills and my beliefs so that my self worth and my goals and dreams and my ability to achieve them would match people who have low self esteem? Okay, so low self esteem and high efficacy. Low self esteem and high efficacy. These are people that know many matter how hard they try, you know, they upgrade their knowledge and skill. They work like workhorses, but they never feel good enough on the inside. They never feel it's enough. So they rarely enjoy what they achieve because it's never enough. And that's why it's critical to line up your beliefs with your perception. Beliefs about yourself, beliefs about what's possible, beliefs about how to become the person you must become to achieve the goals and the lifestyle you want to achieve. Does this make sense? I mean, am I off my rocker or isn't this how you get your money story right? And how you increase your self worth and efficacy, your abilities to match both loads of money that you guys, you can make an extra 1,000amonth, 5,000amonth, 10,000amonth, 100,000 or a million more a month when you upgrade your knowledge and skills and habits. Not just knowledge and skills. There are plenty of people who have knowledge and skills, but they don't have the daily, weekly, monthly habits to achieve more success. So stop screwing around with yourself believing that some law of attraction shit's going to happen and land a million dollars on your lap in addition to the law of attraction, which means you're in resonance, spiritual, emotional, mental and physical resonance with the lifestyle and the income you want to achieve. You have to apply what I call as the law of Goya. G O Y A what is that? It's called the get off your ass law. And upgrade your knowledge, skills and habits. Change your money story. Let go of the limiting belief that are holding you back. Let go of the disempowering emotions, let go of the behaviors that suck your time and cause you to do what? Be less productive than you can be every single day. And when you do that, I guarantee you you will be able to make boatloads of money so you can give more of your time, your spirit, your heart, your kindness, your tools and resources to as many people as possible. I want to help you make more money. Not so you eat bigger steaks. Yes. So you're more comfortable. Yes. So you have less stress. Yes. So that you don't have to worry as much as you do. I want to help you grow your financial ability by working on your inner gut game to develop your beliefs, your habits and your perceptions so that you have a money story of somebody who is wealthy. And you have the abilities of somebody who is wealthy. Hey, this is John. And if you like that video, watch the next video because it is packed with things that you can do right now to achieve success way faster than ever before.
