I wish I would have known exactly what to do. And had I done that early on, I think I'd probably be 10x ahead of where I was. I take time to think, plan, do and review. There are seven critical things that I wish I would have done in my 20s, that when you learn what they are, you're going to want to do them right now. Hey, this is John. Welcome to my channel. Now, I've achieved some pretty good goals in my life and my entire, you know, life from 19 to 61. A lot of years, right, involved setting goals and getting precise on, you know, what I want to achieve, when do I want to achieve it, by, how am I going to achieve it, what are the skills necessary to achieve it, etc. So these are some of the things I know you're already aware of. And one of the things that I wish I did more of was review, like, review. Where was I, you know, on the path to achieving those goals? So I set the goals and I developed the strategies for them and I didn't do enough reviews on a weekly basis. So, for example, now I review my goals every day. I review my results every week. I review my results and my plans every month, every quarter. And I take time to think, plan, do and review. Let me repeat that. I take time to think, then plan, then to do and review. And I keep repeating that process over and over again. So that's the first thing out of seven. Number two, I wish I would have gone and joined a mastermind group with other people who were really looking to achieve the same types of goals that I was when I was younger. I was surrounded with a lot of people that really didn't dream as big as I dreamt. They didn't really want to achieve great things. And I wish I would have invested in, you know, in either a mastermind that I paid for or invested, you know, to find the time to find a mastermind, a group of people that want to achieve big, great things. I didn't do that, you know, really early on. And had I done that early on, I think I'd probably be 10x ahead of where I was, you know, back then. And so get into a mastermind with other people who are achieving great things. And here's why. People who are achieving great things or want to achieve great things are curious. People who want to achieve great things are upgrading their knowledge and their skills like you are right now. People who are wanting to achieve great things want to learn how to get better, right? They're looking for an angle. They're looking for the edge. They're looking for something that could help them get there faster with less stress, of course, you know, with less pain, with less failure. And, and so I wish I would have done that. The third thing that I wish I would have done and I had so many opportunities to do this is I didn't know the value, you know, of a coach, you know, when I was, when I was, you know, I knew the value of a coach, as in sports, because I played sports as a kid. I played basketball and I swam, you know, I did track and field and I learned how to ski and stuff like that. But I never paid for lessons. But I had a coach in high school and I got better because of that. But I didn't hire a coach to help me achieve my goals. And it's like, wow, now that I teach so many people to achieve their goals and I see how fast they achieve their goals because they know exactly what to do. I wish I would have known exactly what to do and to be coached on how to do it specifically. So that's, I think that's number three. Number four. This is an important one. I wish I didn't party as hard as I did back then. That's just, you know, I partied like a flipping rock star in my 20s. You know, Tuesday nights out at one bar, Wednesday night at another bar, Thursday night, another bar. Friday was like, oh, that's a special night. Another bar. Saturday, of course, is Saturday night out and Sunday, well, there are some special places to go on Sunday night. So I was hungover a lot, you know, when I was, when I was younger. And that's kind of like the fourth thing. I wish I wouldn't have been as hungover, maybe the fifth thing. So that's kind of, you know, a little behind the scenes stuff for you. The next one is really around taking more time off. Now, I know that sounds counter to it and I don't consider the partying time off. When I was younger, I really wanted to work hard and long out because I thought that's what it was going to take to be successful and make a lot of money. And when I was younger, and a lot of you don't know this, I ended up with severe ulcers in my colon and I was sick for about a year and a half and I got so sick that I was taking 25. They were called Salaza pyrin pills a day to reduce the inflammation. I had to do, and this is embarrassing, I had to do an enema every Morning and every night it was a cortisone enema. And then every month I had to go to the doctor to have a tube stuck up my, you know what, to see how I was doing. And it wasn't really doing well for a year and a half to the point where they thought they were going to take out my colon or part of my colon. I was like 22 years old. Who the fuck has their colon taken out at 22? And they said if, if it doesn't get better because it was stress related, by the way, then they probably have to take out my colon, part of my colon, and it would never be the same again. So once I learned how to exercise, eat well, meditate, visualize see myself being healthy and taking time to rest, I remember one of my mentors coaches, you know, so to speak, in business, he said to me, says, if you had a billion dollar horse, you wouldn't put her in a race every day, would you as well? You're working seven days a week, 50 hours, 60 hours, 70 hours. And he wasn't like, you know, a real coach, so to speak, but he was somebody who was managing the office. And so once I started to focus on my mindset, the visualization, the affirmations that I love to teach about the meditation, the mindfulness, I was doing this, you know, 39 years ago to get healthy and my colitis went away and I haven't stopped ever since. So take more time off to rest, to unfocus, is really what it's all about, to give yourself a chance to replenish. And then the last one is really about investing. I remember there's a lady by the name of Sylvia Babineau who actually texted me just the other day just to say hi. She's got to be probably in her 70s now. And she was very, very wealthy because when she got into real estate, which is the industry I was in when I was younger, 19, I got into real estate when she was younger. She bought at least one house every year. And I remember her telling me, john, you want to be wealthy when you're 40, 50, 60 years old? She said, she said, buy one house every year, get renters into that house and let them pay off the mortgage. Well, I bought my first house and flipped it, bought another house and flipped it, and bought another house and flipped it. And I ended up with about seven homes at one point. Then I sold them all and made some good money back then. But compared to how much they would be worth today, like 15, 20x the money I didn't listen to somebody who was successful, who was worth tens of millions back then. It's like, should have had a V8, right? I was like, didn't listen. And so I wish I would have, like, invested every year in something that I allowed the compounding effects of appreciation while somebody else was paying off the loan, a renter, to take effect. Now I invest in the stock market and building companies, and it turned out okay. But in comparison, if I was to say, here's what I did, here's what I could have done based on her wisdom, I'd be ten times further ahead, and I'd done it for the last 39 years. So those are just some of the things that I wish I would have done when I was younger. That, by the way, I'm teaching all this to my kids, and they're doing it. I'm teaching this to my students, and they're doing it. I'm teaching this to my family. Some of them are doing it. And so there you go. Hope you had a good spark of ideas for you.
