Discipline gets you started when motivation dies. Consistency keeps you going. Most people nail discipline for a week then quit, which kills progress. John Maxwell said consistency compounds, and pairing both creates exponential results.

Discipline is the ability to do things that you said you would do when you don't feel like doing them. Consistency is the ability to do those things over an inordinate amount of time. The problem I see with a lot of people is they're disciplined this week and they're not disciplined next week, or they're disciplined on Monday and they're not disciplined on Tuesday. And John Maxwell has this quote which I really like that says, consistency compounds. So if you have discipline and you put consistency with it, things compound. And I didn't understand that logic. I was trying to like do the same activity but get so freaking successful at it that my income went up. And I just decided to kind of reverse the order and go, getting better is important, but if I do more of it, won't I just get better by default?
