A colleague spent two hours manually sending onboarding emails to new hires. By creating a template with one-click send, that dropped to twenty minutes. The speaker shows how to automate it further: a form that triggers the email automatically when someone is hired, plus a notification so the manager knows it went out.

I went, why do I keep sending this? This seems stupid. I am a systems person. And that's how we started, like, all the stuff all the agents would get when I onboarded them. At first it was like, send them the thing to get in class. Cool. And then I was like, why do I have her send the thing to get them in class? She had to send 27 of them today. I needed something by 10:00. I'm like, why didn't I have the thing by 10:00? She's like, because you hired 27 fucking people this weekend, bro, and I'm sending them all to class. I'm like, that actually makes really good sense. How do we solve this problem? Because I don't need you sending 27 emails today. It's great. We send them. How do we fix this? So she made a template. When she would get it, she would just push a button and it would go. Then I was like, how many times do you push the button? Well, 17 times. It took me 20 minutes instead of 2 hours. Cool. What if we made a form that as soon as I hired them and I hit submit, that template you made got sent to them automatically? Then they wouldn't have to wait till Monday to get the message and you wouldn't have to do it first thing in the morning. And then what if I notified you that I hired someone so you knew that I hired someone and they got that message? Now we sell a product for that. But again, sometimes shit like this makes people's heads explode.
