So yeah, you mentioned culture, Mom and Dad struggling. What have you had to do to help?

So my dad's bipolar, he doesn't work. Like he's been off since like I was 10. Mom just like a housewife today. She wants wife, she just she's a great human being, but like, she— that's not in our culture. The woman just stays home, takes care of the kids. Yeah. So I graduated college, I was— I got a biology degree, and I got waitlisted at my state school, at the med school. So that was like, okay, that would be so cool to go. And then it was like, if I don't go here, or I'm around family where like things are just kind of stable, it's probably not a good idea for me to leave because I got like 3 younger siblings, right? And they didn't even know how to wipe their butt at the time. So they're always trying to make sure they were, they were okay too, you know? It's not just about money, it's like mentorship, life. Yeah, mom and dad aren't there, like it's not, not just about money in life, you know?

You're from like the Middle East where like the man is responsible, and then if you have a son, he'd be the next, like if in 10, 20 years if I have, if I die, would be my eldest son would be like basically the next father.

And that's something I kind of do struggle with, like a little bit, maybe the confidence. But when you don't grow up around money When you see your default outcome is kind of negative, like for growing up, you don't—

yeah, I get it. That's why, that's why I want to tweak it. It's just like tweaking your phone script, bro, and you got better. I'm gonna tweak what you say to yourself and you're gonna get better.

You know, I definitely have the skill set. If anyone has a grain of salt of interest in insurance, I'll close them. But it's hard to close John when John's house is paid off, John's got a couple mil in the account, you already got a million dollar account, uh, policy, and he's good. It's just the— but What I do, I train my guys. Is it worth 30 minutes of your time to talk to John about his grandkids and all those things he did in his life, or is it better to hang up and move to the next John and then close the next job?

So it's your choice.

As a mentor, the right thing to do is like, okay, you need to hang up and go to the next lead, right? Your time is your money, correct, John?

Even if you don't sell a single policy in that month, which will not happen if you work hard, you'll still be straight, right?

I was— immediately before that, I was an accountant. I did accounting, like desk job, not a CPA. I was like a community college, low level, paying bills. I was a controller somewhere. I made $40 grand a year, dude, crunching numbers in an office. Yeah, so I worked in warehouses before that. I didn't like warehouses, so I thought going to college would be smart, and I got an accounting degree, and I fucking hated that. And before warehouses, I worked at— for Little Caesars.

Yeah, I mean, I drove— I did 15,000 Uber rides. Hey John, how are you doing? Can you put your lights on? I did that 15,000 times for insurance. Hey Sarah, how you doing?

3, but it was full time, bro.

It was like $5,000 a year. 3, that's like 10 a day, 15 a day. Holy shit, bro.

But I was a lot of— yeah, I was strategic. Like, they used to give you like a $5 bonus if you drove, if you pick somebody within a certain circle or diameter or whatever. So I'll just stay in that circle and I'll pick up the college kids from their dorm and take them to the bar. And it would be like a 3-minute drive and I'd make like $10, $10, $10, $10, $10, $10. I thought I was boss. I was like, yeah, I made $500 tonight. Let's go. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then you, you live and you learn. You're presented with new opportunities. And then like from Uber, I was, I took another position where I was like, okay, I can do Uber at night and I can cut fruit from like 8:00 AM until like 3:00 to go take a nap for a couple of hours and then drive. And that one was paying me $200 a day. And then I would drive Uber for— during the week for an extra $100. And on the weekend, I would go all the way. Like Friday, I'd drive as many hours as I could. Saturday all day and Sunday all day. So that was like—

how many miles you put on a car? I mean, 100,000 miles a year. I mean, you're putting obnoxious miles on your car.

I destroyed the— I had two cars. I destroyed both of them.

You said cutting— what the fuck you mean cutting fruit? What does that clarify? What'd you do?

So I was in the back of Do you know— have you heard of Kroger before?

Yeah, you know the pre-cut fruit that you just pick up and you stop it? I was in the back chopping that up in the morning, bro.

I've always wondered, I'm like, dude, people pay for convenience. You can go buy a fucking thing of strawberries, but damn, you go buy that little thing and it's got strawberries, blueberries, and whatever, pineapples in that.

I was doing that. I was sorting it, cutting it. I know how to cut a pineapple professionally, a watermelon professionally, slices. Cubes.

Get all you can out of it too.

I mean, I showed them at the log and they're like, well, he knows how to cut fruit. What?

I always wonder because I'm like, dude, people pay— like, when people don't buy on price, I'm like, people buy for different reasons: value, convenience. And I've used the fruit thing before. I'm like, you know how much people pay for that little thing of fruit? It's fucking like $5 and it's 20 cents worth of fruit.

It's kind of interesting though, like the watermelon, you set it this way, you cut each end, and then you set it upright, then you peel around it. And then you— then from there it's just a free-for-all. You can cut it however you want, and it's kind of fun. Like, I was really good at it. I don't know how I still have all my fingers, bro.

You never cut yourself?

Uh, tiny scratches here and there, but nothing serious.

No kidding. And you made $200 a day doing that?

$200 for about like 7 hours a day. And then I would go take a nap for like an hour, just chill out, and then I'd drive Uber 3 to 4 hours, like I would work 10 to 12 hours a day every single day. And then I would pre-plan, like on Wednesday and Thursday, I would make sure I had enough fruit for the weekend so I wouldn't have to be stuck there all day. And then have everything filled, filled, filled. And then I would drive Uber all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

During this time, are you taking care of family? I assume the whole time, taking care of kids, siblings, all of it.

I had my parents' bills. I had— my brother was in college. What's it called? Um, my mom and dad, like, my mom and dad were on EBT for the longest time.

So it was like, it was like, but I'm, I'm—

we all living together?

No, I had my own rent. My parents' house is paid off. My grandfather gave it to my dad. He never lived out of that house. But still, life is expensive.

Yeah, hell yeah. So shit, taxes alone, bro, on a house still you gotta pay.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was at least paying out $6,000 to $7,000 every month, and I was only making like maybe maybe 7, 8, 9 if I was lucky.

And dude, and like, I, I got on— I was an honor roll college student, I got waitlisted into med school, and it was kind of hurting my mental health. I was like, dude, everyone's getting— everyone's a doctor now, everyone's moving on, it was having kids. What am I doing with my life? But now, now that I'm here, I'm like, all right, whatever.

That's a big cultural thing too, expectations of your profession. Yes, like, what do you—

like, if I'm gonna go get married and like, hey, I drive Uber, that's tough. Like, I don't— yeah, no disrespect, but if a guy comes to me, I want my wife, my daughter to live a good life, you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what I mean?

Okay, got it. They got— when I said I worked for Little Caesars, um, I worked for a Lebanese family, so I know a little. Yeah, I don't know much about who's where, what's what, but they— I learned some shit I didn't know growing up where I grew up.

Yeah, this cat was an engineer, high-level engineer, and he owned 4 Little Caesars franchises. And he had like his 2 cousins and someone else that ran them. And I started working at 16, and then eventually I took over and managed the joint. And great fucking people, dude, but they worked their face off.

That's what we do, man. Hospitality. I bet he was a nice guy. Like, hospitality was great.

Oh dude, His name is Adele. I still remember to this day, one of the nicest human beings ever, dude. Gave me cool opportunities, let me manage his joint right out of high school. I started there at 16. The day I turned 18, dude, put me in charge, made me a manager while he was overseas doing stuff. He took care of me. He took care of me. He was a good dude.

That's how I try to be with my team. Like, when we go along, I cover everything. If I will do everything I can to make sure John is successful— if John's coming and he's showing up 12 hours a day, I'll let him borrow money for leads, or I'll pay for the license exam. Mistakes, but as long as he's trying, like, I will bleed out before I let one of my guys leave, uh, flunk out of the business. I just— the more you uplift others, the more the universe is going to uplift you, John. Yeah, yeah.

How'd you, how'd you find— I know you were in college with Ronnie, but how the—

I mean, you knew him when you were cutting fruit, so how the— how'd you get here?

Like, we kind of lost, like, contact. So after college, people go left and right. Didn't really talk to Ronnie. And then my brother was like, when I was cutting fruit, my brother was like, hey, dumbass, dude, these people are posting so much, they're making so much money on Instagram. I was like, it's a scam, I don't believe it, shit. And what happened, so I was just getting a W-2 or whatever, like I'd get a set amount for cutting fruit every day. And then my boss was like, dude, this guy's gonna take over the business where they actually try to make a profit, because they were just paying me a set amount every single day. And he's like, Hussein, you got to find a new gig in 30 days. So like, my back was basically against the wall. I was like, dude, I'm kind of burnt out on this whole Uber shit.

And he—

my brother came and it's like, the universe is timing, dude. They're selling insurance, they're making so much money, they're all like 18, 19, 20. You'll be so good at it. And I was like, all right, screw it, let's try it.

But your brother wasn't in it?

No, my brother's in college. And a lot of the people in our like agency are like 18 to 20 years old.

Yeah, honestly, you want to build a team, you want to find people that don't have a lot of responsibilities. They don't got rent, they don't got no wife, they don't got no kids, so they can take a chance on the commission-based sales job. Yeah. So I was like, all right, I kind of don't have a choice, right? I'm sick of Uber, Fruits, the being terminated. I messaged Mahmoud on Instagram, what's your number? I called him, I was like, bro, do you think I can make like $1,000, $1,500 a week selling insurance? He was like, dude, yes. I didn't believe him, bro. I didn't. So I, I had like, I don't know, like $12 grand in my savings account. I was like, all right, fuck it, I'm gonna go to Florida. And bro, John, before that I worked 7 days a week from— I know for sure, for sure, no, no negotiations— from December 25th to like May 30th, 7 days a week, literally work 12 hours a day, go home, wipe my butt, and then go do it again, right? I wasn't going to bars, I wasn't hanging out, I wasn't doing anything. I didn't have a girlfriend or wife. I was just like in survival mode, I guess. So I was like, all right, man, there's something— it's got— I gotta get a break at some point. So I was like, I'm gonna try this. So I had the 12 grand in my savings account. I went to Florida, I spent a couple thousand dollars just to breathe a little bit, just get a break. And then I took about like 3 weeks, I got my— I got licensed. And we used to work in like a little dungeon basement, it was like something you see on like a movie. And before we were in this nice-ass office, and I, I went there, I started—

Yeah, cool. That's where we were initially. There's only like 10 of us now, there's like 60 cats in this office. Yeah. Off and on. You just explode, I guess. And, um, it's interesting. You start dialing and you get, okay, John, we applied for $10,000 of coverage, we're going to make it effective the 1st, and then we're going to use your Chase account, correct?

Blah blah blah.

You write it down, you submit it, right? So I was doing it every single day. I was like getting a policy every day. This is interesting. Now I didn't get no money yet because everything's set out for 4, 3, 4 weeks out, right? And then boom, bro, like my first week I got deposited like 15 racks. I was like, holy shit. Dude, I used to get $1,000 a week, or I would transfer like $800 or $1,000 from Uber.

listen, this is kind of interesting. You got— I got a little sniff of crack over here. And then from there, I, I had all the money that I got deposited. I sent— Ronnie was giving us leads initially. I would just send $2,000 a week, and I, I think I did about 100 racks in my first 60 days.

What's work look like for you in this industry? Because I think a lot of people misunderstand what an 8, 10, 12, 16-hour day is like and how it should be to make that kind of money.

So anyone that truly wants to make that kind of money, I would wake up at 6 AM, I would go to my apartment gym for about 30 minutes, go back to my apartment, take a shower, and I would be on the phones, no excuses, at 8 AM. I dial 4 or 5 hours, eat something, maybe walk around, run my mouth for 15, 20 minutes, socialize a little bit, back on the phone for 5 hours, eat again. And then if I— let's say I got a call at 9, a call-in or something at 9:30, I would still take it. Some days I would get home like 10:30, 11. So it was no excuses. 10, 12— no, not even 10— 12, 15 hours a day.

How much of it's talking to actual clients? You mean like give them some perspective? Because some people— I hear people, dude, and I try to say this a lot with a lot of people— I'd be like, I dialed 8 hours today, and talk to 3 people, and you know, I mean, they did 84 dials or 112 dials, whatever it is.

I would have 400 leads a day.

400 leads a day you're calling?

Leads a day, right? I mean, those 12-15 hours, I mean, probably 100 didn't answer.

Yeah, naturally, at least. Hell yeah.

And then let's say 100 people tell you to fuck off, or like, I have insurance, you don't really mess with them. But then you get like the other 100 semi-conversations. But if I could give you a takeaway, I would get at least 10 to 12 presentations a day.

Now we're talking. That's where we got one.

When I say a presentation, anyone watching this, I presented bronze, silver, and gold to John Wetmore. John, this can be $10,000, $15,000, and $20,000, $100, $150, $200 a month. Does that make sense, ma'am or sir? Which one of those is most likely to, uh, most comfortable for you and your family today? That's what I call a presentation. A presentation isn't, hey, how are you doing, if your date of birth is 1/1/2000. That's just nonsense.

If you do present 8 to 10 to 12 times a day Anyone watching this, you will close 1 or 2 deals a day. You're not going to do that by showing up 2 hours a day or 6 hours or even 8 hours a day. If you want your life to change, anyone watching this, you're going to have to work 10, 12 hours a day starting out.

Yeah, I, I, I don't want people to miss the part where he said if you make 8, 10, 12 presentations a day, you'll close 1 or 2. Now, can you close more? Yes, yes. But this dude ain't talking about closing 90 fucking percent of people he talks to.

I just think I chose to ignore things that I didn't care about, so I missed a lot of basics. Like, I didn't I wasn't— I didn't attend school a lot because I didn't like it. Yeah. Um, so I'm more— because I miss stuff, I'm kind of ignorant more than I'm dumb. Does that make sense? But I do remember like the supply and demand part of school.

And if this thing were that easy, natural economics would say it sure shit wouldn't pay this well.

It just— it's not how it would work. And the leads wouldn't be that inexpensive if they were that— you know what I mean? Just, it wouldn't work that way, says common sense. Um, so I love it. And I just encourage my agents to say these hard things that the top-tier agent says and the mediocre agent doesn't have the courage to say. I personally—

And I teach agents that you have to ask the hard questions if you want to get sales. If you want to— excuse me— if you want to make the sales the average agent won't make, you— I can close John if he just needs a damn cremation or burial policy and he's just to lay down. Anyone can do that. But is that going to get you $100,000 in 2 months? No, nah, it's not.

That's going to get you $7,000 issue paid, $12,000, $14,000. Yeah, for sure.

But if you were like, dig in, all right, so you need to ask the hard— are you— do you have any— do you have a mortgage, John? Yes, you do have a mortgage. And how much do you owe on the house? How much is the house worth?

I owe $200 grand.

Yo, $200 grand. And if you were— if your income was cut today, if you passed away in a car wreck, would your wife Susan be able to handle the mortgage?

We will put something in place, John. If we can't cover the whole mortgage, I'll help you put something in place where she has 12 to 24 months worth of payments where she can get that equity out. And I teach—

You get this in the mail, and if you don't really have some kind of purpose for the insurance, it's just going to be a chargeback. But now I told John, it's for Susan. When he dies, she's going to cover the mortgage, she can get the equity out, and she can go live with one of her kids.

Now he knows, okay, John's not going to play around with his wife's livelihood. There's a— I've assigned attachment. One, there's a purpose for the mortgage. Second, there's sentimental attachment because It's his wife. He's lived with her for 50 years. He loves her to death. He's about to die. He doesn't give a shit about the money anymore. Now, on the other approach, he doesn't really have a reason to keep this piece of paper in the safety deposit box, and it's costing him $400 a month. That $400 a month is more ball games, more fun with his grandkids. It's— but, but they're— on the contrary, if I— like I did, if I did my job as a professional correctly, he will not charge back. I was 32 years old, no wife, no kids, no real career, and it was not in a good mental space. So I wanted to change. If you want change, if you really want to get to the next level of income, if you want to provide a better life for your spouse, for your parents, if you want to be able to have an income where you can contribute more to society, this is the tool that you— if you, John, if you told me today, hey Hussein, I'm opening Burger King, I'm gonna pay you a million bucks to flip patties, I'd be like, all right, sign me up, son of a gun, let's go, come on. If you— whatever it takes, guys. If insurance is the best opportunity that I've been presented and that you have access to, why not go for it? And what do I tell people, John? Okay, if you try something and you're relatively young— like, the best age core I've noticed for a team is like 18 to 22, maybe 24, because you don't have as many life responsibilities— you try this for 90 days, you at least you tried it, right? But if you try to message me or John when you're 35, you got 3 kids and your wife's pregnant and you got a mortgage and you got all blah blah blah, it's just tough to go into a commission-based sales job. All right, yeah. So now that's just going to take us to the next level. I'm going to submit a million. I'm going to, correct?

I go to his house, and then I got like an $8,000 annualized premium. Spent like $800, and it was so much easier in person because they trust you, you're in their face. And then his wife Patricia was like, I'm sorry, Hussein, I was a bitch on the phone, but there's a lot of scammers. And like, they love me. Like, we took pictures.

Like, no, I mean, I grew up in-home and I grew up flying across the country to sell, but I would go with like 150 leads and I go spend a week somewhere, you know. So I did, I did mainly in-home. Early in my career, you know, 10 years ago. Now I'm playing— I've been doing telesales again. I just got back into it, building a new base shop, and I'm like, people bitch it's hard, and I'm like, all right, let me roll out of bed and show you. I think sometimes I think I'm a little crazy, but like, dude, when you're like growing up, when your back is against the wall and you're looking for a better opportunity, a better life, and you want more out of life, you just, you stop caring. And that's the, that's the mentality I want you to have. This, like, go for it. Put the 90, 120 days in. I promise you, if you try your hardest, it will work. And if, even if it doesn't, you know, at the back of your head, you can just go back to your 9 to 5. Yeah, which is it, it is what it is, right? Even like I told my new agent yesterday, so we'll save up the 10 grand, you go full time, you have enough, like I said earlier, you'll have enough for living expenses and leads. If it doesn't work, you just go back to your job. She's like, okay, she liked my plan. But I know if she works, we have a system where it— hey, if me, John, if me and you have a team, like if you're my upline and I have a thousand people under me and a thousand people are averaging $20 grand a month, is that an accident?

Nope.

No, it's not. It's an objective metric. It has no emotions attached. When it comes to work, I love— I always say this to my team, no emotions attached. How many hours did you attack dial today, John?

That's not really that applicable in this industry because you— well, you can work smarter. You can get more dialers and you can spend more on leads. That's smarter. But you still got to show up. You still got to be— you, you still got to put the dials in and you got to do the applications. Takes time. This is not— it's not like it's an automated business where you just collect rent on like an Airbnb.

But I thought, like, why not do both? Why not be smarter and work harder?

You know, I mean, like, shit. I had someone respond to me, like, on one comment last year, and she was like, well, I made $300 grand only working 15 hours a week. And I said, dope, have you ever done the math on what you would make if you work 60 hours a week? And she didn't respond.

I didn't really want to— I couldn't go back to school. It was just like survival mode for years. But like anyone watching this, I got out because I worked hard.
