Robert Herjavec argues that world-class success comes from mastering one skill obsessively. Tom Brady earns $25 million a year just for throwing the ball, not blocking or tackling. Deep expertise in one area beats spreading yourself thin.
You have to be passionate about one thing. Be great at one thing. The world will reward your knowledge of a very narrow field. So the analogy I always use is, you know, Tom Brady. I love NFL football. Tom Brady gets paid $25 million a year to throw the ball. He doesn't get paid to block. He doesn't get paid to tackle. In fact, when he does those things, people freak out. Be Tom Brady.
Be world class at one thing. Man, being as analytical as I am by default, it's been a really hard concept to grasp and understand. But I'm seeing this is very true in the history of our business as well. It's wild.
