The importance of mastering fundamental skills.

I was watching this video, dude, recently, and it was on like a basketball coach. He was coaching some kid's team or something like that. And he has like a bench, if you will, like one of those sawhorses, like a real small piece of wood, short, small piece of wood, right? And he's teaching them how to dribble over the wood and to be able to dribble without like carrying the ball. You know, if you dribble a ball and you carry it, that's like, they call foul or whatever. So he's teaching them how to dribble properly, and he won't get into real drills. He won't get into plays. He won't get into 3-point shots. He won't get into like defensive schemes. He doesn't get into free throws. He doesn't get into literally nothing, dude, until they learn how to dribble the ball over this thing without stumbling and fumbling and carrying it. And he was like, someone was like, why do you do that like so intensely? Like, what about all the other stuff? He's like, all the other stuff in basketball don't effing matter if they can't dribble the ball. Why would I teach the other stuff? It's irrelevant.
