John Wetmore offers mentoring advice for people in sales and insurance. Don't overwhelm newcomers with everything at once. If you guide someone and they ignore your advice, that's on them.
I'm never going to have someone figure it out themselves. I'm going to help them figure it out. But like, I know what you need and when you need it. So what I'm saying is don't try to figure out on your own when you need stuff. I can help you with that. I'm not going to leave you on an island. But if you don't listen to the things I tell you to do, then I'm going to leave you on an island because you ain't listening to me anyway. Does that make sense? What I'm saying is they don't have to have a PhD in stuff before they start doing things. I don't need to overwhelm people with information before they start. I'm not trying to get as most— the most stuff in people's hands before they get in the field. I'm almost trying to get as little as possible.
