YouTube talk by astrologer Joni Patry about the fixed star Altair (referred to as “Altar” in the transcript). Patry describes Altair as embodying ambition, leadership, success, righteousness, truthfulness, and integrity. She gives two zodiac placements: 1–2° Aquarius in the tropical (Western) zodiac and 7–8° Capricorn in the Vedic (sidereal) zodiac, notes its Nakshatra placement in Uttara Ashada (associated with later-life success and strong ideals), and cites January 22 as an example birthday with Altair conjunct the Sun. The talk ends with links to Patry’s websites and learning resources.

Hi, I'm Joni Petrie, and welcome to my YouTube channel. Today I'd like to talk about the fixed star Altar, which is in the eagle in the heavens. And Altar is probably one of the most ambitious and one of the most successful stars in the heavens. So this one's going to bring ambition. But most of all, it has virtue, it has righteousness, and it is truthful. So this is the epitome of a successful leader. So, Altar, if you want to find where it is in your chart, you will be looking, if you're looking in the tropical western zodiac, you're looking for one to two degrees of Aquarius. But if you're looking at the Vedic sidereal zodiac, then you're going to be looking at 7 to 8 degrees of Capricorn. And remember, everything about what Capricorn is about is going to be very much symbolic of what this represents because it deals with rising to the top, ambition, drive, success with career. This is the star of really being incredibly responsible. And I think it's probably the star that you can count on truthfulness, because it has such a great deal of integrity. Now, the Nakshatra portion of the zodiac that this is in is in Uttara Ashada. And Uttara Ashada is known for its righteousness, truthfulness, and I want to say probably it is the most committed to truth and to their ideals because this is a very idealistic Nakshatra. And remember, Uttara means latter, Purva means former. So this means in later life that this person with planets conjunct this star are extremely successful. So they learn, they gain the information, they build, and by the time they reach the second part of life, this is when they experience their greatest, greatest success. So if you are born January 22nd, you were born with Altar on your sun. And this is a very, very powerful position. And I know some clients that have this star conjunct, their son born on this birthday. And all of them have great success, but they are always dedicated to their rules, their way of doing things, which is definitely virtuous, truthful, ambitious. But most of all, remember that I feel like this is the Nakshatra that has the deepest integrity in all that they do. So I want you to check out your chart, see if you have these positions of ambition and rise in the later part of life.
