Anger Issues of Mars Retrograde in Astrology

This YouTube talk by Joni Patry explains how Mars retrograde brings up unresolved anger from past lives and childhood, offering an opportunity for healing through acceptance and self-inquiry. She describes behavioral patterns (suppressed anger, passive-aggressiveness, fixed-sign stubbornness), contrasts sidereal vs tropical approaches, and gives specific astrological timing and aspects (Mars–Saturn dynamics, Mars moving into Pisces Oct 4–Dec 24, stationing direct Nov 14).

Hi, I'm Joni Petrie and welcome to my YouTube channel. Well, today I want to talk about the energies of retrograde planets, specifically retrograde Mars. Because what I want to talk about is how these planets really do bring up things within our own personal lives that gives us an opportunity to heal. Remember, we are here to change, grow in consciousness, to become a better person to, to grow spiritually in this world. So the planets really give us these great opportunities. And when a planet goes retrograde, it simply means it's. Well, from the vantage point of Earth, it appears to go backwards. But it brings up things from the past, things that we have forgot about, things that we need to remember to look at, things that we are here to work on. So, so as Mars goes retrograde, what does it bring up? All the old issues from the past that really bring up our anger about things that we've never resolved. Because remember, what a retrograde planet is really about is unresolved issues.
So if you're born with planets that are retrograde, it simply means that, that you left something undone in a past life and you've come back into this life with the same situation and circumstances that you left unfinished before because you're here to complete and heal it. So I look at the birth chart as a map of everything we've been before, lifetime to lifetime, or what it is we're here to correct, to learn through, to heal. And Mars is so potent because Mars is really energy in the deepest sense of the word. Mars is powerful. It is the trigger that sets us off in a chart.
So depending on what sign your Mars is in, that really does determine how you react to things. But if you were born when with Mars retrograde, let me just say there are many things that have been left unresolved. Dealing with anger. I find people with Mars that have it retrograde natally that they are uncomfortable with expressing their anger. So they tend to push it down and pretend it's not there and hope that it go away, but it doesn't. And especially when Mars does go retrograde, so many things are going to be triggered and brought up for you to face and decide, am I going to let this go? Am I going to heal this so that I never have to come back and deal with this issue again? That's the key. That's what we've got to recognize during this time so that we can.
Heal all the uncomfortable issues that caused our life to not work. Setbacks, delays, problems. This is our time to really check in and see what it is that Pushes all of our buttons, that makes us angry. So people with Mars retrograde, this is their true opportunity. I'm talking retrograde in their natal chart. If you have Mars retrograde, this is a time that you're going to really see a lot of the things that you need to heal. So realize for all of us, regardless if your Mars is retrograde or not, so many issues around what makes us angry are going to come up. Now, people that have Mars retrograde in their chart, it's going to truly be an opportunity. Because remember, if you are repressing anger, you push it down, hope it'll go away because it's so uncomfortable to deal with and to face. It's going to come out in other ways. So many people with this are very passive aggressive. So in other words, they're not going to express their anger, push it down, hope it goes away, but it comes out in other ways, in ways that possibly you're unaware of that subconsciously you may do things to get back at people because you are angry, such as showing up late, such as forgetting important dates, just doing things where it's passive aggressive. It really is. So that's some of the personality types I've seen. And especially.
When Mars is in a fixed sign. Many times people, which what are the fixed signs? Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. These are the, these are the signs that are going to be more stubborn about the changes. Remember, I'm talking about the sidereal zodiac, not tropical Western astrology. So if you want to really see what your chart looks like in the sidereal zodiac, go to my website, which is Galacticenter.org don't forget to sign up for my new free newsletter. You're going to love it.
And see what signs your planets are in the sidereal system. This is going to really make a difference in understanding what your life is truly about. But moving on, thinking about this anger issue that Mars is dredging up for all of us, and this is in the mass consciousness globally that everyone's starting to get angry about certain things going on in the world currently.
But this is the time that if we really get outside of ourselves and try to understand why we are reacting the way we do, there can be a major healing. So here's the issue. Because we carry this, all of our personality, everything about our temperament, we brought this in as babies from other lifetimes. Now we're here to really work on these issues again. We have another opportunity and looking at the issues that make us angry. There will be things that come up in Our childhood that started this. But of course we're recreating it from previous lifetimes, but it's coming back again. So in childhood experiences, or we react in a certain way because of our natural makeup. And maybe there was some very, very difficult and most of the time there are circumstances that set the tone for how we react throughout our life, but it's unconscious. So maybe we had a sibling that our parents compared us to, or something like a sibling that didn't share something insignificant. But it could deal with siblings, it could deal with the lack of attention you got from your parents. But all of these really set the tone for how and why we react to things the way we do as adults, subconsciously. Why are certain things a trigger for us? And now the triggers are going to be set in motion. So. So every time you get angry, you got to stand back and go, what is making me angry in that person? Why am I angry? Reverted back to certain childhood experiences that formulated this reaction. There's always a reason. And if you can do this and you accept just that this is the way it is, I can't really change the way I feel, but I accept the way it is. It heals it. So what it's really about is acceptance and not fighting against it. You know, there's a saying from the Course in Miracles. That's one of my favorite sayings of all. Would you rather be right or would you rather be happy? Sometimes it's not worth it to fight against people just to be right. It's not. It's going to ruin your peace of mind, your. Your so many things in your life, you know, cause high blood pressure, all of that over sometimes what appears to be the most ridiculous things. But remember, those things are triggers from something that bothered you early on. So if we can understand that all of this is happening for a reason, we can accept it, move on, and it doesn't bother us anymore. What is more important than happiness and peace of mind? Would you rather be right or would you rather be happy? And so many people that have to be right, they're not happy.
Because in their pursuit of being right, they actually sabotage themselves. That's what we have to recognize. So moving forward to this, Mars being retrograde. Now here is something very interesting. Mars is retrograde. It's in Aries right now as I speak, but by October 4th, it's going to go back into Pisces. This is going to stir things up more. I mean, a lot of people may think, wow, it's so strong in Aries. But you know, so many astrologers and people think because it's in a certain sign, it's good. I've got news for you. It's not always that great by being an Aries, because sometimes the stronger a planet is, depending on what house it's in, it's stronger for the negative effects of that house. Furthermore, let me just say this. What I feel like works from both western tropical astrology and Vedic sidereal astrology are the aspects. Because in both systems you will be having the same aspects. And I know a lot of people kind of just blank out when you start talking about the aspects. But this is the real determinant of, of what is going on and how I'm able to make my predictions. Because if I didn't look at the aspects, it's meaningless for everyone just to know what sign it's in. A couple of weeks ago somebody said, oh, there's this terrific, fabulous, wonderful day because so many planets are in their own sign. Well, it wasn't. It was nothing out of the ordinary. You know that Jupiter is in Sagittarius right now. Saturn is in Capricorn right now. Mars is in Aries right now. The Moon was in Cancer that particular day. And what were the other ones? Mercury.
Is in Virgo, which is in its own sign. So all of these planets were in what we call their dignity in their sign of rulership, which makes them very strong. But the aspects were crucial because around that time we had Mars around 2 degrees of Aries, Saturn 2 degrees of Capricorn. They're square each other. That square aspect of Saturn, Mars is very harsh. And not only that Mars special aspect was casting towards anything that was around 2 degrees of, well, a planet in your chart that could have been 2 degrees of Libra. Mars is opposing it, while Saturn squares it. That is not an easy time. Or if you had any planet around 2 degrees of cancer, Saturn's opposing it, Mars squaring it. Those are crucial points. Just because the signs the planets are in is not going to erase the harsh aspect of Mars and Saturn. And let me just say this. The day that Mars and Saturn conjoined was March 31st.
In Capricorn of 2020. That was when the lockdown was in full force and the stock market dropped tremendously. Now that was a great opportunity for investing, if you could see what I see. But still, it was a harsh day. So the aspects are imperative. So here's what I want to say about this. Mars retrograde going back into Pisces, October 4th. Mars will be into Pisces, and it will remain there till around December 24. And let me just say this.
That makes it tougher for Mars to be in Pisces, because what happens? Because Pisces is ruled by Jupiter, Jupiter becomes a focal point. Now, Jupiter being in Sagittarius may appear wonderful, and it is many respects, but it deals with fanatical religious, spiritual and political behavior. So you're going to see from October 4th till December 24th how radical people's behavior is going to become. And this is the time that I feel like there's going to be the most going on with fighting, protest.
Just really angry. People will be so angry about being right and about their judgments and about what they believe, forcing it on others. Here's what I don't understand. Why are people getting angry at each other just because they believe in something? And if somebody believes in a particular presidential candidate, why would you make them feel bad for what they believe in? That I don't understand. People have a reason for why they believe in what they believe in. And I think it's perfectly fine that people believe what they want to believe, but we can't judge them. It comes from a past conditioning, and that's fine. They want to feel happy about what they believe. Don't make others feel indifferent or bad because it's not what you want. Some people, I feel like, won't even be friends with somebody that has a different political stance. That doesn't make any sense. We are all in this together. So when this anger and rage comes up, stand back and go, what am I doing? Why am I angry? And try to trace it back to the historical past of your life, when it started. And when you do this, you'll have a better understanding of why this trigger happens. And that's where the acceptance comes, where, okay, I understand why this makes me angry. So therefore, you can let it go, and you will. And that's the healing that Mars retrograde always brings. So remember, being in the sign of Pisces.
Is emotional. It's sensitive, it's feeling. And when I look at the chart of different countries, whatever house it falls in will be the house that things are going to start being upset. And when I look at the United States chart, it's going to be in the fourth house, the homeland. So there's going to be more violence and attacks and protest again with this Mars retrograde in the homeland. Now, Mars will station in turn direct November 14th. So things will reach a crescendo, will reach a peak around this time. And in the United States. It is around right after election day. So. So brace yourself, prepare. But what I want everyone to really understand is to look within yourself, understand what it is that's causing the anger, and this will heal it. And that can be the beauty. And that is the beauty of understanding astrology, to know what's going on and how you can work with it and how you could heal it. So. So with that, I'd like to close.
