Interview with Edith Hathaway on the 2020 Jupiter and Saturn conjunction

Vedic astrologer Edith Hathaway explains why the 2020 Jupiter-Saturn conjunction matters. She traces 20-year cycles back to 1820 and 1900, arguing this alignment marks a 60-year turning point with major shifts in technology and politics. Historical examples include the rise of nationalism and changes to institutions.

Well, hello everyone, here we are again. And this is very exciting because we're about to interview Edith Hathaway. She is one of the speakers here on at my conference and she is an authority on the Jupiter Saturn conjunction. And wow, we have got quite a conjunction coming up here in 2020.
So.
So I am excited. I'm going to introduce everyone to Edith, but before I do, I want to remind everyone about the Dallas conference. It's coming up here October 25th through the 27th here in Dallas, Texas. And we'll have links so you can click on it down below. So if you're interested in coming, we would love to have you, but let me give you a little taste of what's to come at this exciting conference. So, Edith, thank you so much for joining us. And let me just say this about Edith. She is one of my old teachers. I mean, I looked up to her. She was one of the first women teachers with Vedic astrology at the conferences where I was just a student. So I am so honored to have you, Edith, and respect you and your knowledge information so much. And please tell everybody a little bit about your history, who you are and how you got into Vedic astrology.
Well, thank you, Joni. And thank you, everyone. Welcome. Yes, I. I guess I've been doing this since 1976. Started off in Western Western tropical astrology.
Like many of us. Like many of us, yeah. Studying since 76. I've been doing it professionally since 1980. You know, consulting with clients, lecturing, teaching, writing. My first book.
Came out actually in Western astrology, Navigating by the Stars. That was in 1991. And then my second book, which is In Search of Destiny. There it is.
Love that. Oh, it's fabulous.
Thank you.
Well, thank you, thank you. And I'm working on a second volume. It's if you can see the thickness of this one. Anyway, the subtitle.
Yes, it's taken a little while coming, but meanwhile I've written a bunch of other things. The subtitle is Biography, History and.
Culture as told through Vedic Astrology, which is a lot of the themes of the lecture that I'm talking about, which is Jupiter, Saturn, 2020, the fulcrum of a 120 year cycle. So let's see. Yeah. Oh, and I should mention my website, which is www.edith hathaway.com. and there are a lot of articles there. I think over 650 pages of articles, which is maybe why you haven't seen volume two yet. A lot of them are at.
Joni's Magazine Astrologics for over five years now. So thank you for inviting me on board with that. And Joni is most generous with her enterprises in Dallas and all around the world. So I feel fortunate to join with you and really looking forward to this conference. I heard it was great last year, so I'm excited to join you this year.
Yeah. And that's, you know, I wanted you to come because I'm thinking Jupiter and Saturn are coming together. This is so important in 2020. So I thought, you know, you're really, you've done so, so much research. I know you have so much to tell everybody. And I thought this is perfect with this conjunction coming up, you know, next, next 2020. So tell us a little bit about why you think it's so important and, and what, what the effects are going.
Well, first of all, you know, for your because I'm sure you've got some beginners out there who don't realize the importance of these Jupiter, Saturn.
We call them synodic cycles. They occur every 20 years and also the 12 year cycles of Jupiter, so Jupiter zone orbit and then Saturn's 28, 29 year cycle. So within, let's say the 60 years. 60 years is going to be coming up as a very powerful number of years because we're exactly in 20, 20, exactly 60 years into what I call the Earth period. In the Earth period is a larger period of time. We look at larger cycles of Jupiter, Saturn, where they dominate in a certain element. So it's going to be fire, Earth, air or water. And that's is of, that's of huge importance which element they're in. And.
Sidereal zodiac, we're looking at sidereal zodiac, in this case, Lahiri Ayyanamcha.
So.
Yeah, you were asking me why does this conjunction have special significance? Well, it's at the winter solstice. And so and of course that's the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere. So that gives it additional power. And it's not like the Jupiter, Saturn.
Conjunctions, each don't have power. They are, you know, major markers of socio, political, economic, even cultural turning points in the individual person's life. And this is where maybe some of your beginner astrologers would want to know the difference between mundane and natal astrology. Now, not that it doesn't matter to you individually, because it does. You might want to know where does that fit into my chart? So this one in Capricorn, which house is it in? But in mundane astrology, we're looking at much larger patterns and how that.
Affects the Earth in general. So we see in this case, and I'm going to be showing different graphs of periods of time looking forwards and backwards. It's really going to be over like a 1700 year swath. Obviously brief, brief stays on some of the earlier ones. But we see that this Earth period goes for, they're on average about 260 years. The Earth goes from technically 1921 up to 2199.
So, okay, we're in the midst of it for a long time. So you could say, oh, so what's the difference? Well, we're now in the core period and core period means the, there's no mutation. Mutation is when you're in transition between one element and another. So that's, we want to know. And I'm going to be looking at several other like fire and water periods to see, well, what happened in those core periods. What I call, and that's the second part of my title, the Fulcrum. Fulcrum is the point where it's, well, it's the median point, so it's halfway between and it's 120 years. So and 60 years, as I've already said, 60 years is a very major turning point, we know, in a person's life. Right. They said their second Saturn return. It's also the Jupiter, right? Jupiter 5 return. So 60 years. And it's a Jovian cycle. So it's. Okay, you could say this is numerically very, very nice, very neat. But that makes it even more powerful. So we're going to be looking at some of the trends to see, well, what might we expect? Like if.
The fulcrum, does that mean that the trends are going to reverse? They're going to stay the same. And this is where I think there are some very, very interesting things to look at. When we look at 1961, which was February 18, 1961 was that seminal conjunction that started the core Earth period and that finished off the fire to Earth transition point.
Oh, another thing, I just wanted to mention that our.
Actual friend and colleague Ray Merriman recently gave a webinar, I don't know if you saw that it was in mid September and he was talking about the election cycles, the presidential election cycles between 1800 and 502000 and how over those there were 8 out of 11 times where there was no change. Oh, I'm sorry. Where there were, there was a change of party. Right. So about 73% of the time there was a change of party at that conjunction. And those dates, which I checked out or. And he did, he did mention the dates 1820, 1900, 1940 happened to be those dates where there was an incumbent or one thing or another. There was no change of party. And I would just as a teaser, put in there that of course they're looking at tropical zodiac, but the one thing that's the same is that we each tropical and siderealists are both gonna.
Say, hey, the equinox and the solstice are going to be major power points in the year. So if you have a conjunction falling on those dates as we do in 2020, that gives additional power. But there are other factors in the Vedic system and of course sidereal zodiac which give extra power to those conjunctions. And guess what? Those were in play in 1820 and 1900 and 1940. So.
Of course Ray wasn't making a conclusion. He was just bringing up those, those statistics.
Which are very useful. It's good for us all to look at these things. We should be doing this, comparing events and the astrology to see, okay, how is this, how is this playing out in the world?
Absolutely. Yeah.
So.
I guess I was going to go on about the dominant element and.
Yeah, so you've mentioned something about the Earth.
Just mention again. That fits. Yes. So Earth signs, as most of your viewers know, are the Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn. Fire is Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces are the water signs. And what do we have? Air, Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. So those elements are going to dominate for. In a thousand year kind of stretch, 1400 to 2400, they're gonna, they're gonna dominate for about 200.
Then in between they're going to go into transition. So each of these elements means different things. And for instance, this is kind of fun. It's a really fascinating history lesson. When you go into the water period, you go back to the 8th and 9th centuries and you see that these were the periods when sea voyages were major. You also have the importance of religion and royalty. Well, you had the Vikings back in the 8th and 9th centuries and you could say, well, where does religion fit in? Well, they had their own religion.
And they were, they were marauding Christian sites and you know, attacking Christians because they wanted to be the dominant. In the end, Christians won out. But the Vikings were very powerful. They were the best shipbuilders and seafarers in that era. And then later you go to a later water period, the 14th through. So the Vikings were 8th to 11th centuries. Then you go on the water Period in the late 15th century, you had Columbus who came over to. Of course, he was one.
Of many. But this was particularly important. We look at astrology because he was doing this journey. He couldn't have done it without funding from Queen Isabella of Spain. So it's royalty, which is water and the glory of Christendom. So he was conquering or trying to find new territories, both for the glory of Spain and the queen and Christendom. So these things all were major factors for the water period.
Yeah. So, Edith, you mentioned something about the Earth period. When these periods are in effect, such as the water, the earth or the fire periods have. How long do these cycles go on for? Because I know that, you know, back in 1961, it was in Capricorn, as it is now, this Jupiter Saturn conjunction. Does it follow along where it occurs for a long period of time?
Yeah, well, in Earth, it's. Yeah, I mean, I.
He traced it back, the earlier Earth cycle. Got a sheet here, way back down. Yeah. Earlier Earth period is. I'm going to be mentioning it because it's when the Mongols, in fact, were invading and taking over. They had the largest contiguous empire in the world at that point. And that was during an Earth period. And so we see that.
That, you know, that was something that.
Was important because you take. You take. I was going to take an example of the invention of the gunpowder, for instance. So in the fire period, you had the invention of gunpowder in the 9th century by the Chinese, but you didn't have it spreading across Eurasia until the Earth period, you see. So Earth has a way of making things more concrete. It spreads it. Yes, we're in an age of consumerism, but it brings technology and all of those things.
So that is the connection with Earth you have. I think it's so fascinating. You had. Oh, by the way, the Taoists invented. They invented gunpowder, and they were really looking for the elixir of immortality. They didn't realize they were looking at the fire period. So.
So these ironies of history, including another one, the next time you had.
A chemical explosive, the only chemical explosive.
Invented over a thousand years period, it wasn't until the next fire period, which was late 19th century, and that was Alfred Nobel, the Swede, in 1867. Now, about 19. Some 19 years before him, no, 21 years before him, an Italian had invented nitroglycerin. But it was so dangerous, it was such a dangerous, unstable explosive that he didn't want to do anything with it. But Nobel did, and he suffered. A factory.
Blew up and People died. And the younger brother died, all of that, but he. So he invented dynamite. Saint Nobel invented dynamite.
I didn't.
Yeah, yeah. And that's. That's pretty interesting, isn't it? Because. Yeah, it is.
How long do these, these elements, how long do they last, these periods?
Well, as I said, about. They average about 260 years. Oh, my goodness.
260 years. Okay, I get it.
Right. So they average that, but then in between.
You've got mutation periods where they. They mutate from one. So we had a fire to Earth period. Whenever there's fire, fire usually goes shorter. You had long, water is longer, water takes longer to do anything. You had the printing press invented, but how many centuries did it take before people were really reading books? Right. A long time. So.
At least, I mean, compared to today's inventions, where you have people right away running away, some model comes.
Out and, you know, people are using it.
Yeah.
So this is. This is the nature of the fire period. I mean, the Earth period. But yeah, and I was going to mention another one of those ironies is that Alfred Nobel, of course, is the. He changed his will. I mean, he made a will so that he would be able to put it in trust so that he could give out these prizes. And one of them is a Peace Prize. And there's an interesting little vignette there. Here's the man. There was a. I never knew this term before, but something called a premature obituary.
Have you ever heard of that? No.
Yeah. Premature obituary can happen accidentally or satirically or purposefully. This one was accidental. They thought that Alfred Nobel had died, but it actually was his brother Ludwig, so they thought he had died. So they.
Had this headline in a French newspaper which read, Le Marchand de la mort et mort, which means the merchant of death is dead.
Right.
So he was so. And then when it went on in a very negative fashion, and he was so thrown by that. Now some biographies will say, well, no, it didn't affect him that much. But it's considered that he was so thrown by that that he wanted to be better remembered. So he had a lot of money, he was very wealthy man, probably equivalent of over $3 billion at the time.
So he put that. That's pretty amazing for 18.
So he put that into this trust. And now. And the first Nobel Prizes were given out in 1901, which is the first, the end of the fire dominant period. And it's also was the last conjunction in Sagittarius, which rules over knowledge, of course, the ninth house of knowledge. He was a Very learned man. You know, he spoke six languages, and so he gave these prizes in areas.
That he cared about. But what I think is interesting of that is that the people, even Albert Einstein, who of course was later, some of his thoughts led to the atomic bomb. He also was more or less a pacifist, as was Nobel in the end. So these are some of the ironies that we run into.
So we've been in the Earth period for how. How long, how much longer do we have in the Earth period?
Well, we have technically till 21.
21. We're almost finished.
99. But what we've got now is. What we've got now is another 60 years of the core period. I call it the core period because there's no transition. It's just straight Earth. Right now we've had one anomaly. One anomaly, and that was in 2000, where it was very late Aries, remember that was in Critica. So what do we have right after 2000? We had the 9, 11. And not that we haven't had wars and.
Yeah.
All kinds of difficult things in between, but.
It did propel. In fact, what I say is that you have this very powerful acceleration and intensity that the 20th century brought, that any century that has two sets of triple conjunctions. Now, again, I don't know of anyone else making a big deal of the triple conjunctions, but I'm sure they're written up in the Vedic classics. We'll have to ask Ronnie to see who's ever translating the Vedic classics. But it means when a Jupiter and Saturn conjunction.
Comes into exact, exactness three times, and this only happens every, you know, again, like 280, I don't have the exact numbers ahead of me, but every couple of centuries we have that. So that, to my mind as an astrologer, accelerated our 20th century.
Really?
Yeah, because you had what, 19, 40 and 41, you had triple conjunctions in Aries, in. In Bahraini. Right. Ruled by Yama, God of death. So we moved into the invention of the bomb, and that was the last. No, it wasn't the last.
Conjunction in Aries because we had it in 2000. But notice the first, first conjunction in Aries was 1820. So for often people say the Persians said the first conjunction in Aries is powerful because it's setting a new path. So that's why that 1820, amongst other reasons, was powerful. But. So.
Where was I, where was I headed with that? Yeah, the, the, the fire conjunctions. Then you had, 40 years later, you had the Earth conjunctions.
Uh, oh, I know that her Internet is not secure. So she'll be back. But. And we're going in and out here, Edith, you're frozen. I don't know if you realize it. Realize it, but we'll wait for you to come back.
Hopefully it will.
Okay. I hope we haven't lost her, but I'll take this minute just to say.
That the Dallas conference. Let me just say this. It's going to be here. And here's what I love about this conference. We are going to. Maybe we've lost Edith. I hope not. But she'll be back. But at this conference, it's three days, and I'm going to be giving my world predictions on Saturday night. So I mean, Friday night. So Saturday night we have a dinner party at my home. So we're going to be celebrating and probably the coming 2020, which I do want everyone to know that I think that this year coming up is going to be very exciting because I'm looking forward to. To the changes that are coming and are going to make this world a better place. So a lot of people think that we're talking about negative circumstances coming in the world, but we're not. This is a transformational change, the breakdown of the old making way for the new. So this is going to be an exciting year of change and transformation, which is so needed and necessary in this world. So. So let me just make sure that Edith is. She's not coming up, but her book.
Is probably the most well researched. And here's something else I want to say. It is translated in French. So when I was in Austria, in Vienna, teaching this August, one of the students said, oh, I'm going to come to your conference because I want to meet Edith Hathaway, because she translated her book In Search of Destiny, that it's translated into French. And she was able to read this entire masterpiece novel in Vedic astrology, which goes into all the Jupiter Saturn conjunctions, and in most of all, what's coming from the Jupiter Saturn conjunction. Because every 20 years this pattern brings something. And you know, it usually occurs, I've noticed, most of the time at the beginning of a century. So 1960, 1980, and now it's coming in 2020. So it's every 20 years. And there's always these radical big changes every 20 years. And most of the time there's usually presidential elections all the time. So that always has a shift and change in what government? And they're going to be in Capricorn, which rules government. So I don't know if we're going to be able to complete this. But let me see.
Hold on a second. Let me see.
I'm going to see if I can take any questions people might have at this point to see while we're waiting for Edith to come back. So let me. Let me go ahead and.
See where we're at with this. Okay.
Okay.
So.
Technical difficulties here.
We'll be right back.
Okay.
Oh, my goodness. There's a lot of questions here. Let me see if I can answer any of these wonderful questions. So. Okay.
This is epic. Great. Thank you. Everyone's greeting us.
Okay. We're not going to talk about readings and costs and all that right now. You guys are too funny. Yes. Go to my website, if that's what you're interested in, and go to book a reading Galactic Center.org. yes. Okay. Thank you, guys.
Looks like everybody's asking other things. Cryptocurrency. Yes. It's gonna go up. I'm sure of that. I'm waiting for Jupiter to go into Sagittarius, actually, when it's really gonna make a big shift.
Yep.
Okay.
You know, I would love for Edith to give a breakdown of the stock market according to this Jupiter Saturn conjunction, because I just want to say that Jupiter and Saturn are the social planets, and whenever they come together, it has everything to do with the economy. So, you know, we need to go back in history and analyze what happened before. But with this, I know that the last time that Jupiter and Saturn were together in Capricorn, it was around 1961. And, you know, the economy was actually going pretty well then. If you look it up, it was, like, considered one of the most prosperous times. It was right before. I mean, Kennedy was, of course, in office and he was starting to do his campaign to be re elected. And we know what happened there, but not saying anything.
So.
Yes, here's a.
JD meta. Jupiter will conjunct Saturn in the first house of the USA Natal Chart, as well as the second house, Capricorn, by the end of 20. Well, you know, my take on that is that when Jupiter and Saturn come together, most of the time we look at that as a point of. Of manifestation because Saturn gives the discipline and the focus. But Jupiter lined up with that also. It represents. Now Edith is calling me, but Jupiter lined up with that gives opportunity and manifestation. Okay, Edith, I'm still online here. What happened? Or did you lose the Internet?
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay. Hold on a minute. All right? And let me see if I can get Austin to see if he can help us here. Austin.
Help.
Everybody. Hold on a second. I've got my, my computer techie guy that's going to come because we want to finish with Edith and hear what she has to say. I know you guys have a lot of questions, but remember, Jupiter and Saturn together are a point of manifestation and coming together in the second house of the United States chart. I think the economy is going to be okay for the time being till we get to 2021. Then we're going to see a big shift. But around November or Jupiter shift signs of 2020, we'll see a big change. Okay, so.
Let me see about getting.
Edith is trying to get on. We're still live right now and we lost, lost her because of her Internet connection. So she's trying to get back in.
She just has to re click the link. That's what I thought in her email.
So.
Call her and tell her what to do. So I'm just trying to. I'm just trying to entertain everyone. We're waiting for Edith to come in. Go ahead, y'. All Ask me any questions right now while I'm waiting for Edith to come back in.
Okay.
Maybe it was the Russians. Okay, that is funny. You know, I don't know about you guys, but I've been having more computer problems than Mercury. Retrograde. No, Mercury does not go retrograde till 31st October, the last day of October. Yes. And I gotta say, a Sunday has been the worst. I think it's the Jupiter. I think It's a Saturn K2 conjunction. They're conjunct right now. And that's like a really hard, difficult aspect. But the good news is they're going to separate and they're not going to be. They're going to be leaving that tie up together. And it couldn't be sooner for me. Let me just say that. Okay.
Will crypto do well in 2020? Yes. But you know what? I think that we need to stick to Bitcoin and not, you know, like Litecoin or any of the other ones. Bitcoin is the mother and that's the one to watch. And yes, it's going to go up.
Yes. Somebody else says it's Venus debilitated in Virgo. I could see that.
Yes, Mercury is going to go retrograde on Halloween. Trick or treat, right?
Okay. Go ahead, Austin.
Have at it.
Fix it for us.
Oh, did you say.
No, no, that. I was telling you that comes up all the time. You've got to go into zoom.com.
Can'T go that way.
But Zoom wasn't Up at all.
Yeah, it was. It's shrunk. I shrunk.
Oh, where is it?
I don't see it.
Okay, go back in.
I have to re log in and everything.
It's going to stop it. But where we're at right now, you can't go back in.
Is it up there?
Oh, oh, yeah.
Okay. All right, here we go. We're back. Thank goodness. Edith, you can click on mute.
Turn off the phone there. There you go.
We can hear you now. We can't see you though. Is there?
I can start the video.
Yes. Okay. Sorry about the delay, guys. I hope I entertained you okay.
I took questions the whole time.
All right, all right, get going.
Okay. All right, Edith, where were we before we were rudely interrupted?
Just looking at that little Nimita there? I was just discussing the power of the triple conjunctions in Virgo. The beginning of the Internet age.
There you go. Of course we were talking about that.
Right? The age of distraction.
There's an omen right here we are. Signs everywhere. Yeah. So go home.
Yes. So, yeah. So I was going to bring up a few points about. Because we're in the midst of a very high level technology. I mean, that is one of the high points of the Earth cycle. And I was going to bring in some things that we had, for instance, about gunpowder. And it was spread, you know, it was invented by the Chinese, but it was spread in the Earth period, mm.
Period by the Mongols. So similarly, in 1921 you had, you know, you had the end of the horse era essentially because the car was taking over. Now how did that happen? Because you had self propelled motorized vehicles going very slowly, it's true, from the early 1800s. So this went on for decades and decades. But it took until the Earth cycle to make it possible to mass produce cars. You see, that's where the technology and corporations, the power of corporate conglomerates.
All of this comes in with the Earth period. And yes, you had Ford mass producing Model t Fords in 1913, but really not until 1921, literally the year of the first conjunction on earth when you had the invention of the hydraulic brake, which made possible. That was the kind of the last.
Obstacle for mass production of cars. And by 1927, Ford had mass produced his like 15 million cars. So this was. Yeah. And 1921 you had, you know, 90% of the American urban interurban public using public transportation. So all that changed in the fire to Earth Period, 1921-1961, on the age of the horse. Again, that symbol of sagittarius the horse and the elephant, of course. Right. The last conjunction of Sagittarius.
Right.
That was the last year or the last 20 year cycle where the horse predominated. So I just, you know.
Yeah, there are no Quincy.
So that, so that tells us about the effectiveness of technology in the Earth period, which of course is not always beneficent, as we know. You have themes of some of the themes. And this is where I'm going to bring in. I'm not going to discuss it so much now, but Graha Yudha, which is, which is planetary war. It occurs between only five planets. Mars, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn. And with some techniques that were taught to me by Chakra.
I think I'm the only astrologer, real astrologer, using the Graha Yuda to interpret the Jupiter Saturn cycles. And we see that Jupiter is going to be, as we know, it's debilitated in Capricorn.
Right.
So it's going to be weaker in the Earth cycle. And so we've seen, especially in the core of the Earth cycle, which is from 61 to 2080, we've seen certain Jupiterian arenas.
Be diminished in different ways.
Okay, this covers journalism, law, education, you could say, well, it hasn't gone downhill, but it has, it has. The Internet age has brought a speed of dissemination of information that is, you know, unparalleled. Unparalleled.
Unbelievable.
And yet, and yet depth of knowledge. You had, you had that more in the Fire period and in fact in the Water period, I mean the early colonists, American colonists, It was like 90. Somebody was asking me.
How do you know that they had 90? Apparently 99%. We don't have that now, particularly not in the States. So you have the decline of these things. And also Jupiter. The Fire period was fantastic for nation building. And some of the strongest nations on Earth were formed, including the US Were formed in the Fire period. So that Fire period brought the national aspirations, national pride, the desire for freedom of expression, you know, all of that. So you had that.
In the Fire period. And what I've even said is that when Mother Earth ended in 61, nations formed after 61 have been weaker because they don't have that, that urge to let's join together. Let's, you know, let's, let's put our tribal differences, whatever, aside and be one nation. And so I'm not saying not all. And Singapore might be one exception, but a lot of them had the differences. And there's one. See, so many things like this are little vignettes, little markers in history that at the time.
Are not maybe that remarkable. But I look back and I have this in my book, I have a whole timeline of several, well, 10,000 years. In 1961, September, exactly seven months after this conjunction.
The UN Secretary at the time was killed. And that was Dag Hammarshall. You remember Doug Hammarskjold. He was a very. He was, and he still is, the most respected United.
Nations general secretary there ever was. And very, very knowledgeable man, consummate diplomat. So he was killed, actually. I mean, at the time, they said it was an accident, but he was in a plane flying over the Congo. And you could say, well, okay, so he died. So what? Well, at the time, he was going to a meeting.
To help the Congolese to secure their own resources, their own national resources. And he was.
A very avid activist to help nations, especially in Africa, keep hold of their own resources, because there are other corporations and countries coming in, as they have done for centuries with Africa, right, Trying to take over the local, the incredible resources that there are in Africa. So the reason I find that.
Very significant is that from not exactly 61, really starting earlier, but more.
And more from the 60s, we see globalization as a feature, as a theme. So these periods we can see themes and trends. And I've written about that in my book. I tried to kind of, you know, which is a real study in history, to see, okay, what are these trends? And Earth, as you can imagine, is going to be more secular than a fire or water period. Well, fire and water have more to do with religion and fire, more to do with the power of the state, the nation state. So the nation state.
Has been more imperiled in the Earth period. And.
You have the United nations, oddly enough, kind of at the center of this. Not the only globalist organization, but one of the few. So you could say, well, Dagheimerskjold really wouldn't have fit into that because he was protecting nations. You see how powerful that is when you really look at it? Because from then on. And you could say, well, there's still nations and there's still, you know, people, especially sports figures, you know, they're fighting for the glory of their country. They're gonna win.
The prize, you know, win the cup for their country, and all of this is still out there. That's true. But.
It'S really what I've said, and I've written recently in the Astrologic magazine, your magazine, in my recent immigration articles, about this coming to a head in 2020, and in particular in The United States, but not only in the United States, this theme of nationalism versus globalism. By nationalism, I really want to qualify that. It's more not so much like, you know, somebody's got.
To, you know, win battles above all, but to have the ability to have more local rule, to be ruled by people closer to home, rather than faceless bureaucrats who want to dictate what policies you should have. So here we have the issue of immigration, for one thing, climate change. Climate change, another one where there's a lot of dispute and part of this, and it's funny, we got bounced out at the, discussing the Virgo conjunctions because a lot of the dissemination.
Of information because it's so fast and it's so vast, the whole subject of disinformation is also out there. So you have, you know, you have people putting out areas of disinformation that one side adheres to one piece of information, another side adheres to another. And so, for instance, with this, with this whole issue of immigration, which the United nations, and I've mentioned this in some of my recent articles in 2018, December.
They got. And of course, they have no legally binding power, the UN dust, but they, they have a certain amount of clout and respect nationally, internationally. And so they set up a. I forget the exact name of it, but the idea is that all nations should now accept migrants from anywhere. That they're, in fact, mass migration is now no longer illegal. It's, in fact, it should be de rigueur. You know, it should be done all over the world. Well, you could say, well, this is a.
This is a very nice idea in one sense, to push tolerance of all different groups of people. But on the other hand, it makes a mockery of national borders and national rules.
Right.
So you have that going on and you have people saying, well, and then you have the issue of compassion. Well, if you're not being compassionate. So these are information wars that are possible in the Internet age. And one recent thing I'll just bring up in this whole.
You know, just shows you just again, much. Well, I don't know if it's much louder than I think. It's much easier to see now in 20, as we approach 2020. So the symbolisms of things we see should become clearer. Like, and I know you've been speaking about this, about a lot of secrets becoming known, a lot of things coming out into the open that were.
Not clearly known before. So, for instance, just a few days ago, actually September.
29Th, Sunday, you see Pope Francis, I don't know if you saw that he unveiled a new statue at the Vatican, the St. Peter's Square. And this is the first statue that's ever a new. I'm sorry, first new sculpture that has ever been installed there in over 400 years at the Vatican. Okay, so that gets my attention.
It should get our attention now. We don't know how long it's going to be there, how long it will stay. But it was.
The name of the statue is.
Angels Unaware. And it is to honor the World Day of Migrants and Refugees, which Pope Francis has now said should be on the last Sunday in September. So this is also not even a year after the UN migration.
Edict. Essentially, it's an edict.
Is now saying we should. And it's apparently very, very beautiful sculpture. It's got.
140 people on a boat. They're of all ethnicities, nationalities. He's got Jesus on there and the Virgin Mary and Jews and Muslims and everybody. So this is all very nice, but the message is.
You will now let everyone in your country.
There's also a message about compassion. But so you see, I'm trying to make the point here that you have the nation state imperiled.
And by the information war, it's being told no, you can't enforce your own border security. You can't do that. You can't go by your laws because.
We have a higher calling. In other words, these are the faceless bureaucrats that are telling Asians what to do. So this is a major issue in the 2020 election, and so will we. And this is one of the things that I've been studying to see other periods where you've got this fulcrum.
What is the power at that fulcrum? Does it have power to reverse or do you continue the trend? So, you know, we learn something by studying these other eras. And, you know, and the thing is that as we approach, because 2020 doesn't just, you know, we don't just suddenly, in a vacuum, reach 2020. There are things that have been leading up to it, right? So in 2016, guess what? The United States elects a president who doesn't go along with globalism. And several months before that, In.
June.
Of 2016, the British people vote for Brexit. And that is also a nationalistic thing to do because they're saying, hey, we don't want to be ruled by people over in the EU. And interestingly enough, in 1990, I was just reviewing this, this was essentially why you remember the Iron Lady, Margaret Thatcher, who was the Prime Minister I forget when she began, but I think it was like almost 12 years or something. Anyway, she was ousted in 1990 because she didn't want to take any more dictating from the eu. She was against some treaty that was, you know, and the Tories, the globalists in her government were pushing her, just as right now they're pushing Boris Johnson. So the globalists have a lot of power, a lot of clout and they have the mainstream media as their vehicle and they have the UN. I've mentioned, I've brought up the UN's.
Chart in my recent. I think it was the immigrant article. Something recent.
They have a very interesting combination. It's Graha Utah, which, which is a Mars. Mars Saturn. Their ninth lord is losing the Graha Yuta, which means they cannot enforce laws. So they look, they're acting as if they can, but they can't.
Right.
So anyway, these are all of course, very hot button issues that are coming to the fore. And this idea, you know, when you.
See.
See the unveiling of a statue like this and when you see, and you look back and you say, okay, what's the ricochet effect? What are we seeing that happen in 61? Of course, shortly after that. I mean, of course we know the assassination of jfk. I mean he was, he was fighting off.
Now I don't know how much they were globalists, but you know, the CIA was fighting him and vice versa. So that probably did contribute to his, to his death. So I agree.
Yeah.
You know, and that happened soon after the 61 conjunction.
That's good point.
So. And some people are.
While you were gone.
Oh, good, good, good.
That.
Repeat it for me that you were saying that what I was saying, you.
Know, around 61 when we had this last conjunction that we're going to have again, it was 1960 and it was about the time that Kennedy was, was going for re election. And then we know what happened after that.
Yeah, right. Well, no, actually he was elected in.
No, he was elected.
I know, in 60 and of course in 63. Right, right. He would have been. But there is, and I have said this, that people presidents, and we can of course track US Presidents, but the ones elected in those very close. And he's, you know, his inauguration was within month. One month.
Yeah.
Of that conjunction. Very powerful.
And so somehow or other those presidents have, they are elevated, you know, whether.
They deserve it or not, they're elevated in history. So.
You'Re a little frozen on my screen.
I don't know. Yeah. What?
Oh, okay. I guess Sometimes the screen gets a little frozen, but yeah.
Okay, well, you know, do you want to take any questions now, Edith? See if anyone has any questions for you.
Okay.
Okay, let's try it and then we'll just wrap it up. But I just want to remind everyone that Edith is going to be here in Dallas talking at the conference and October 25th through the 27th. And we have incredible lineup of speakers, Ronnie Gail Dreier, Srika Ram, Carol Allen, and Julia Swanson. And I'll be giving my 2020 predictions. So, you know, check it out. It's futureofastrology.com that's the website for the conference. Check it out and see if it appeals to you. Another little thing, if you're on the fence, Dallas is really easy to come to. It's not expensive, and the hotel is like 15 minutes from the airport. And it's a fabulous, wonderful hotel. You're going to love it. And I'd love to host everyone at my house on Saturday night. So that's my little plug for the conference. But Edith is going to be offering so much information.
She's a wonderful teacher. So Please check out futureofastrology.com and check out Edith's website and her book. It's amazing. Amazing. Edith, what is your website again? Edith Hathaway dot com. Is that.
It's Edith Hathaway dot com also, I should mention, because it doesn't come up that often, but there is a French edition of my book available.
That, too. Yeah. Edith is fluid. That's wonderful. And one more thing. She is one of my premier writers for the Astrologic Magazine. Check out my magazine. You can go there. You can look it over. I think it's one of the best online magazines in astrology going right now. So Astrologic magazine dot com. There's so many ways we can learn and grow in our awareness. This is an Exciting, hey, 2020 coming up here. So let's go ahead and see if we can see any of the questions here. Hold on just a second.
Edith, can you see, can you. Are you looking where you can read the questions right now?
No, I don't know where I would go for that.
Hold on.
Let me.
Let me find it. So.
Okay, I'm not finding it either.
Hold on.
I don't know why. Okay.
Okay, now I see it. Okay, guys.
How will this conjunction impact someone with Rahu? Okay, wait a minute. With Rahu in the first house, with Ardra and Ketu in the seventh house.
Does that. I don't understand the question. If you're saying if the conjunction first house. But, you know, that's. That's not clear. Okay.
What's the main predictions for this conjunction? Anything we can do to prepare Edith?
Well, of course, I don't want to give away the main thrust of what I'm going to say. Got to come to the conference in here. One thing, and. Yeah, this is one thing we didn't cover so much is how.
This fits in the individual charts. But the conjunction in Capricorn really can shift. If you're about to do some major project, they can, you know, depends on where it is in your charts. If it's in your 10th house, this is great for career, you know, I mean, just look at the meanings of the houses. If it's in. I mean, you know, it depends on which house it falls in. So I just pick an obvious kind of house, because 10th house is. So that would be, of course, an Aries.
Yeah.
And Aries ascendant, but in different houses, it has different power. And of course, if it's your. If you're having your Jupiter, if you're a person born in 61, whoa, you know, you're going to have the return of Jupiter and Saturn. By the way, there was another thing I was. Do we have more questions there? Because it was another thing I was going to mention.
Let me see if there's anything else.
Nothing relative to this talk. They're wanting to talk about other things.
All right. All right. Well, you know, I mean.
So go ahead, give us your last.
On the lines of individual charts. I'm sorry.
Yeah, go ahead, give us your last take.
Well, you know, I just. I couldn't resist because we mentioned. Actually, we haven't mentioned, but today is Mahatma Gandhi's birthday. So that was a special honor to do this interview on his birthday. We spoke about that before the. Before we got taping there. But. So Mahatma Gandhi was born October 2nd of 1869, and then.
36 years earlier, guess who was born in October of 1833 was Alfred Nobel. So they both have Jupiter in Aries and Saturn in the case of Nobel is in Virgo, and in the case of a.m. gandhi is in Scorpio. So reason I mentioned that. And by the way, both have very tight Mars Jupiter oppositions. So here's a man who ends up giving peace prizes but invented dynamite, has a tight.
RS Jupiter up.
