In this live YouTube stream, host Joni Patry takes viewers on an on‑site tour of the Edfu Temple in southern Egypt, accompanied by an Archaeological Paths guide and a group of participants. The guide explains the temple’s Hellenistic architecture—a blend of Greek and Egyptian artistic motifs—and details the ancient Egyptian carving workflow, where sketches in green and black ink guided craftsmen of varying skill levels. He discusses the temple’s propagandistic royal narratives, including empty cartouches reserved for future kings, and the economic system that funded the temple through offerings of mummified animals, sacred barks, and donations. Mythological stories of Osiris, Isis, Horus, and Hathor are narrated as depicted on the walls, with interpretations of symbolic scenes such as the winged sun disk, the eye of Horus, and the sacred bark now housed in the Louvre. The guide also proposes that the temple’s astronomical alignments, affected by precession, can be used to date the structure. Conservation history is covered, from Maspero’s early 20th‑century excavations to modern chemical cleaning methods that reveal original colors. Throughout, Joni interjects with personal reactions, describing a surreal, otherworldly energy, sharing her fascination with the precision of stonework, and engaging with her live audience. The stream blends scholarly archaeological commentary with informal, enthusiastic livestream banter, offering both educational content and a personal travel experience.
Chapters
I'm in Egypt and I'm at the Edfu Temple. It is incredible. Stay posted and I'm going to show you. Listen to our tour guide. You're going to learn a lot today.
Osiris, Isis, and their own son Horus the Falcon. In one way or another, the concept of Trinity was very popular here in Egypt. And that makes the Christian invasion to the Egyptian hearts and brains easier. You're not coming with something new when you say the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. Excuse me, it's Osiris, Isis, and oh, it's not a big deal. And here it is, ladies and gentlemen, look at this. Here it is. You see the green lasers? Yeah. No, don't die now, please. Up there, the lady, can you see her breastfeeding the baby? Yeah, up there. So isn't that Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ? Something somehow similar in here, in this building as well. We have something very special. They have forgotten to erase Some of the basic work they've done when they're building this place. They have forgotten to erase the sketching style, which is very helpful for us to understand how did they do it in ancient Egypt. Come with me. Sorry. Here we go. Can you see that?
Yes, sure. Red color. What does that say?
That's how we have got the perfect carving we have all over. First, the sketching, can you see?
Yes.
In green color, and then they correct it in black color. Supervisors would come first to correct this, and then they carve again. Can you see this? Can you guys see this? Yeah. Yeah. Of how did they do it. So you are, you as an artist, you're not coming to the working site and say, well, let me represent an owl and a cat. Let me just add some flowery cut. No, they hand you a papyrus paper. With everything sketched in there, and you copy this up there or in here, and then the sculptors later, they come to carve all of this. Supervisors would be everywhere around you. If you have an experience of 30 years in carving, then you're carving this level. You have 15 years of carving, you carve up in the ceiling. I have 5 years carving, carve inside. So the obvious spots given to the professionals. That's why you always under the impression that every single inch here carved perfectly. They made mistakes, and they have high quality and low quality, but they were smart. Smart. So they would give the masters the chance to just carve within the eye level. When you look around here, just wow. Go up there by the columns, they are carving. No one gonna see them. Well, so this is the way they have carved all the scenes inside the temples by sketching all the scenes first and then the craftsmen would carve all of them later. Let's go, please. Both of them were ancient Egyptian temples, and I told you about the features like lotus, papyrus, closed papyrus, and so on. Today it's different deal. This is the first Hellenistic— what do you mean by Hellenistic? I mean those temples built starting from 332 BC till the end of the ancient civilization when Muslims came. A mix happened between Greek and Roman art from one side And the Egyptian art from the other side. They blend them together, and we have something new known as Hellenistic art. And we are going to explain the features of this art once we are inside this temple.
Oh, we gotta walk.
Yes, my dear.
I noticed that the hands and the feet are now normal.
That's true.
They're not both right hands and not both right feet.
Who sent you, my enemies? You'd love to have a seat, guys. There are more seats here. You'd love to give your knees a break, please do.
I'll leave you alone.
Yeah, uh, don't misunderstand what I said. I just meant to help you relax. No. Ladies and gentlemen, look at this. Let me remind you again what I said in the morning. This temple was 100% under debris.
Wow, amazing.
The only thing that we had above the ground level was this block of stone at the top. Can you see it? The one up on the top.
Wow.
That's it. People, they have dealt with it. As a bench to sit in there. Maspero, back in 1902 or something, he came here and he saw this piece of stone. He knew it— the stone connected to another bigger, bigger building down there. He bought that piece of land and started unearthing what's below. In 2 weeks' work, he found himself standing on a roof. They kept digging down deep there. till they entered into the sanctuary or the Holy of the Holies of the temple. Believe it or not, they have found the only original sacred bark we have, and it is in the Louvre Museum now. So whenever we imagine the sacred boat or the sacred bark where they keep the statue of the god, we usually call the one in the Louvre Museum. We just copy what we have in the Louvre Museum. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the facade of the temple, or what we call it, the pylon of the temple. 99% of the scenes we have on the facade of the temple, fake. It's fake news, and it's all about the victorious king, the one who traveled out to Syria, killed the enemies, brought them, mashed their heads, and do whatever. It's all propaganda because we as individuals We were not allowed deep inside the temple. We are maximum by the facade or the open court. So the newspaper of ancient Egypt was here. Whenever the king came from a war, they depict the scenes of the war. Yeah. And the king is smashing the enemy's heads in front of the gods and so on. Well, the pylon designed as 2 towers with a terrace in the middle. And it has something to do with hieroglyphic in ancient Egypt that represents the sky and the sun rises in between. Okay. We have the king to the right and the king to the, to the left. He is offering those enemies to the god of the temple. Who is the god of the temple? The main god of the temple Horus the Falcon, son of Isis and Osiris. So the parents, Isis and Osiris, the son is Horus. Is he single or married? He's actually married. To whom? To the lady behind him. You see her? This is goddess Hathor, the cow goddess. Oh, she lives with him in this temple? No, she has her own temple about 200 miles northern than here. Oh, then they used to visit. Definitely. 2 weeks here, 2 weeks there. Guys, the ancient Egyptian and the current Egyptian, they look for any excuse to have fun. We do. We love music, we love fun, we love dancing and partying and so on. In ancient Egypt, they have had 1,750 gods. And they used to celebrate each and every god at least 3 days a year. So 1,750 multiplied by 3, what? 3,450 or 5,000 celebrations a year. So if you are a musician, you can't, you have no time for a shower. Well, and also that creates a layer of people in Egypt They have no job, no career. They have a schedule of all the parties. They tickle the parties from spot to spot because they serve food in there. Well, but since we have Christianity, we no longer have 7,000 gods or something. And Islam came to kill it all. One God. Is that fair?
No.
So what, one day party? What are you talking about? But the Egyptian, they came up with something. We always, we always as Egyptian, we have our own touch. We digest whatsoever given to us, we add our own touch, we modify it to be matching with our own style. What we did was very simple. Hussein is a nice guy. Uh, he is very religious man, pray 5 times a day, been to Mecca, and we believe he is, uh, uh, the beloved of God. When Hussein died, we are not bury Hussein like anyone else. No, let's give him a mausoleum and a gravestone and say, here is Hussein, the man of God, who whatever. 2 years later, we say we should celebrate his birthday as well. Well, 2 days here. Okay. Each and every village definitely has one of 2 Husseins. We end up having thousands of those mausoleums all over, and I will show you around. They are everywhere, like a mausoleum with a green dome on the top. You might have seen it.
Yeah.
Where I came from, we have 2 of those. And I remember, I was a kid when I asked my grandfather, God bless his soul, uh, Grandpa, who is buried inside this tomb? He says, it's a great man. Called Mustafa. I said, Mustafa what? He says, what do you mean Mustafa? I said, his father named him. I don't know. Have you seen him, grandpa? I said, no, I haven't. Your daddy saw him? No. Grandfather saw that guy? No. And how old is this building? He said, about 50 years. Then how come none of you saw the man? My researches after just being an Egyptologist, it's an empty building. No one in 99% of those buildings, but this is the excuse to have fun.
Oh.
Well, do we celebrate the birthday of that guy? Oh my God, the best 3 days in my life. And I was desperately waiting for them annually. Well, I saved money all the year long, all the year long for this day. We have desserts served everywhere. We have meals served every day. We have a small Disneyland comes So the area where we came from. Okay, this is wonderful. So me as a kid, I was raised loving this building. Well, and keening to protect it because if anything happened to this building, no joy would be available afterwards. Why I'm sharing all of this with you? Because this is the same exact concept we have in the temple in ancient Egypt. The temple was the source of joy, happiness, food. Two weeks a year, you as a local guy would come here every day to eat and to drink and to have fun and to enjoy music and all of this. What if someone came and said, "Oh, shut down the temple"? What are you gonna do? Understand that? That was a philosophy and a strategy the temple followed to hook locals to the temple way or another. Well, but where the fund came from—donations, endowments. Well, and the idea is within the 2 or 3 weeks a year, every local must come to sacrifice something and offer a mummified animal of any temple. So in somewhere in the middle of Egypt, the god Thoth, the god of writing, his own main animal, that's the symbol of the god, was the baboons. So it's recommended if you would love God to listen to you and to please you to offer a mummified baboon to the temple. But the problem, shall I go to hunt a baboon and mummify it and grab it? No, no, no. There is a store attached to the temple. You go to buy it from there. You hand it to the high priest, high priest hand it to the store, and everyone's happy. We have found endless tunnels, a maze beneath the temple. So far we have not excavated at all. When you go down there, you have to tie a rope around your waistband to get lost in there. We found rooms full of jars, and all of those jars, they have the mummified, wrapped baboons. Wow. But when you carry that jar, it is— oh, good. Oh my God, this one's same size, it's heavier. So we dare to untie one of them. We found a piece of stone. Let's say we have two thousand mummified baboons, and then we have high demand this day. What? We're going to tell them we don't have any more. If we said we don't have any more, which means we didn't have any more till next year till we find new mummies and so on. So we have to find a solution, and the solution was to have a decent size piece of stone and wrap it with bandages, put it inside a jar, hand it to the guy, the guy hand it again, and so on. Allah goes. We make money. Everybody is happy. The phone is happy as well. So they got the money. They've covered all the expenses. They've spent lots of money. And every single temple, ladies and gentlemen, used to keep a living symbol of a god. So let's say falcon is the symbol of the god. We need a falcon to be here. Oh, we can eat. You can hunt any. No, not any falcon. It must be unique one. If falcons all are white, we need a green one. If they're all red, we need a white. You know that? It must be somehow unique. The day the falcon die, they mummify it and they bury this in an attached tomb nearby. And every single priest in the temple and the farmers and everyone would be running all over in the Sahara and the mountains and in the fields looking for a new falcon to replace The old one. The day they find it, the high priest would be up there on the terrace holding the animal, holding the bird to everyone. This is the symbol of new God. Ladies and gentlemen, look at the walls around us. This is one one of two mud brick layers we had. They've expected an attack. Why not? Attack and attack worry them the most, and to keep eyes out. Ladies and gentlemen, the temple was not only a place to worship God or to offer some sacrifice. It was more than this. Scientific center that includes astronomy, astrology, physics, chemistry. Well, all the scientific fields were here. And the problem was this: they have never shared the results of their own researches. They would not say, hey, can you hear me? Hey, hey, ladies and gentlemen, we have discovered adding sodium to magnesium. Of course not. Whatsoever the scientific breaks they have had, they have used it to monopolize people.
Bashing the head.
Let me, let me tell you this. If you're living here 3,000 years ago and we did not have rain for almost 3 years, and then the high priest invite us all To attend into the temple, and he came up here in the terrace and said, hey everyone, I've seen God yesterday in my dreams and he told me it will rain tomorrow morning. Everybody went home. Tomorrow morning, heavy rain everywhere. God will be revealed. And personally, I would sacrifice my firstborn. I don't like him anyway. The priest told us it's going to rain in the morning, and here it is. He used science. Well, astronomy and all these stars, all the signs and so on. He knew it. But he would not deliver it this way. He would not say, after researches and we've known— no. The God, God came to me and told me. That's how they monopolize people in ancient Egypt. And they have used technology, which they have developed inside this temple. Without those high walls all over, eyes and ears would be everywhere. You understand that? One of the reasons of having those walls is to keep eyes and ears out of the temple. Ladies and gentlemen, to walk into the temple for us as individual ordinary people, we were not using the main gate. We were using the side gates over there. Can you see it? So you will be entering the temple kneeling.
Wow.
But the main gate used to have the sacred bark outside the temple and inside the temple. One more thing I'd love to add, ladies and gentlemen, It took them 180 years to have this temple built. They're done building this temple 57 BC. When did they start it? 57 plus 180. So 180 years needed to have this construction built, and we lost it in a century or a couple when locals threw their own trash and building remains on it. Let's go.
Wow.
Yes, sir.
So we're entering the temple right now, and I know a lot of you are like probably asleep in the United States because it's early here in Egypt, but I am in Edfu, Egypt, and we are entering the temple, and you are able to hear Our guide tell us all about the temple, and what he was saying was that it's Hellenistic because it's a combination of Greek along with Egyptian. So we're about to enter the temple, and this is a huge opportunity for you guys to travel along with me while I'm touring Egypt. We're having a group picture, and I was kind of standing out to the side. I didn't get to be in it. Anyway, here we go into the temple.
We have lots of secrets, dozens of them.
Look at the size of this temple. You really can't, you really can't get an idea of the enormous size of this, but you can kind of see.
Watch your pocket. The real rule is here, watch your pocket. So I think it was 23 crowns. Your eyes open
for the God's sake. Do not take photos while they are moving. Do not talk while you are walking. Do not look up to the ceiling while you are walking. I've been around the corner lots of times. So please do me a favor and keep your eyes open and come closer. Come closer. Ladies and gentlemen, well, we will see lots of colors, but here we go. This is the beginning. Did you see that? Oh my God. This is the winged sun disk. The sun disk is here and the 2 wings are here. You see it? And then we have the vulture goddess. She's here. Still see the head, the wings? This is the— watch it— the goddess of desire. Come closer, please, everyone.
I'm getting dizzy looking up.
Me too.
Well, I'm just reading on this. Uh, I don't
touch you. Okay,
what's
going on in here?
Yeah, did you see this?
Yeah, it's fine.
No, it's intact. No one touches it.
There's no key.
Huh?
There's no key.
No. The gods above the kings. But we still have other cartouches are full of letters. Why do we have empty cartouches in this part of the temple?
But why didn't they
do? That took them 180 years to have the temple built. Did they forget this? And we still have it there, by the way. Can you see?
Yeah, that's for the future.
Somebody's not dead.
So many they have.
Yeah.
Then why we don't have a name in there? So if we have a bunch of kings in 180 years, so why we have an empty tombstone? I mean, wait one second.
They have to wait till they're done.
They have to wait. No. Then why the other cartouches are all done? Why those specifically are not used?
For future?
For future? What do you mean by future?
Future king.
Well, you're very close, by the way. You're very, very close. You played smart. You gave me a general answer, and now I have— Well, ladies and gentlemen, 180 years of construction, and usually they start carving from inside to outside. They'll put scenes next to the Holy of the Holies, all the way out. How could I convince you as a new king crown recently to fund the construction. I'll come with a proposal. Well, let's say, Randy, I came to you and said, Your Highness, uh, congrats for just being chosen by your family to be the king of Egypt and so on. And we're building the temple of the god and we need, uh, 50 kilograms of gold, if you don't mind, to continue the building. Yes. You're gonna ask me automatically, have you done with the entire construction? I said, no, sir, we've done with 90%. And your daddy's name is everywhere. So how about my name? He said, we have saved a spot for you in the bathroom of the temple. Will you fund us? Yeah. Of course not. You need your name to be mentioned in a public, clear, obvious area for locals to know how religious you are and how in love with God you are. This is the game. So that's why we have saved that spot for you, for the future king. With every future king, we go to say, sir, Come on, we've saved a perfect spot for you. You can have your name in there. Not only this, they have even faked the narrative. Look at this. Yeah. This is an entire story with actions. The king in his own 3rd year, he led the Egyptian army into whatever, and he did—
who
did this? Someone, we don't know him yet. So the name would be written here, birth name, coronation name, Birth name, coronation name, and you go birth name, coronation name, birth name, coronation, and so on. And this will be a text we translate and we lean on it as a historical resource. You understand that? They haven't been there. This is the problem. Come on.
Mind your step, please.
It's all about the dog.
Look at those here. So as I have mentioned earlier, As I have mentioned, the goddess does not live here.
It lives in another temple about 200 miles north. He came to visit the god. Goes to visit. Two weeks here, two weeks of the great and bad. Yeah.
I feel like this is an archaeological dream. I mean, this stuff is, you know, like—
What?
What, 250? BC. This is like the most amazing place to come for those that want to know about history. And I'll tell you something that nobody's mentioned, which I want to talk about, is the fact that in, in trying to decipher the age of things here, Really, the way that a lot of the structures were put together was with alignment with the stars, as we all know. And because of precession, the stars have moved. That which is not lined up with the sun, the sun will always be the same. And this really goes for astrology. Tropical, the sun will always be in the same position every year, year after year. But when they align things with the stars, they align the sites with different astronomical stars. And we know that the stars travel backwards in the zodiac 1 degree every 72 years. And will transit through all 12 signs of the zodiac, the precessional cycle, about 24,000 to 26,000 years. So if they can see the movement of where the stars were from the alignments of where they put everything, we should know the age of everything through understanding The astronomy, the astrology. So I don't know why they haven't mentioned that yet, but I know this is probably how they've gauged the age of these sites. Let's continue on with our tour guide.
Ladies and gentlemen, look at the capitals we have here. Those are really different than those we saw in Baqshar and Tanakh. I'm dead. No longer open lotus, closed lotus, open papyrus, closed papyrus. No, look at the Combosic Crown here. Look at this one. This one, palm lotus, has nothing to do at all with lotus or papyrus.
That's new. Well, this one here. Oh my God. This is palm lotus. This is lotus. This is papyrus. All of them are one. Well, and they don't care about being identical or not. Look at this one there. This is open lotus, open papyrus. This one is different. This one is different. This one is different. This one is different. So they no longer care about what's identical to what's not. This is a new feature in the Hellenistic art.
The capital of the column could include whatsoever flower available.
Okay? Let's go.
There is a hidden step in here.
There is a hidden step in here. Please keep your eyes open. Watch your step, please. By the 3rd century AD, it's over. This religion is no longer alive. Christianity became official religion. Even Coptics, they've left this place. No maintenance to the walls outside. High floods managed to break into the temple and rip on the walls they used to protect the temple. The Nile water came into the temple, leaving a thick layer of silt. No one cleaned it. Next year, it became higher and higher and higher. By the fourth century, no one used this entrance. They used to enter the temple from the windows. So the silt covered it all up to here, and then later here, here, here, here, here. That's how we lost the temple. It all started by abandoning the temple. No one lives in the temple. Nile water in, layer of silt, the layer after layer, debris and trash, and so on and so on. The temple's gone forever. Ladies and gentlemen, 1st, 2nd, 3rd century Coptics lived inside this place. To warm themselves up, they used to set fire, and the soot stuck in the ceiling. We have cleaned Some parts of the temple. Let's
go to see.
So now we're entering into the temple, so we're gonna see a lot more in just a moment. Let me show you everything.
One more time. Egyptian scientists from Cairo University, they've managed to develop some chemical materials able to remove the black spots without removing cartilage. And this lifestyle holder on right now. Come closer, please.
In. Give room to the others, please. Get in, please. Move forward.
I can't say look up.
People are sleeping in. So can sleep lots. You have lots of petrol to give them. Look at this, guys. After stopping, get on the way. Look at the cloud.
You see the sun disk? You see the wings? You see the colors out there? The government, all of them cleaned up. So that's how the entire room looks like after cleaning it up. Oh, so this is after cleaning it? Then how did it used to look? Cleaning it. Hold on, let me show you. I'm over here, guys. So most of the things— was the city so unrighteous? If so, why were they It is the original. I know, but most of them— Yeah, because the temple was full with debris and broken cement.
You want to meet 2 of my friends, Calvin and Dee? Say hi.
Hey. This part is cleaned up. This part is not. See, the ceiling is not. This one's cleaned up. This one is not. So that's how the sot Used to look like before the process of cleaning this.
All righty, I need you all to be here, guys, please.
But mind your stuff, please. We need to explain this. If you start a business, if you manage to work with Hussein, oh my God, this would be a huge jump in your career, your business, from here to there. But definitely, if you approach trying to meet Hussein, that would be impossible. And even if he met you, you had a proposal, he would not pay attention.
At least there is a mediator, someone to introduce him, introduce you to him, and to just recommend you to him, and so on. That would be great if your wife knows somehow a friend to his wife, and then she have prepared or facilitated a meeting together. Yeah, I understand that you found the back door, and the wife is the solution. The same exact thing happened here. A new king assigned to be the king of Egypt, and he wanted to be great. And he was like, he created— at least he offered a temple or built a temple to the god. But will the god accept my temple or not? Why don't we ask his wife? So we have here the king is praying to Horus to accept a temple from him, but he doesn't know if that would work or not. The king again is praying a lot and a lot and a lot, asking for help or the wife's help. Here we go. The cow, the goddess is here. The cow goddess is here holding the king's hand. Can you see? She's holding the king's hand, leading his way to Horus. Look, she is looking at him. Come on, son. I told him Horus is waiting for you. He's very happy with the temple. So Hathor, as a mediator, she facilitates a meeting between the king and the god, and she guarantees the acceptance of the temple. And what will be the next step? The next step is work would start by marking the 4 corners of the temple, this piece of land where the temple would be. How that would happen? One of the goddesses would have 4 sticks into the 4 corners of this piece of land. Oh my God, we have a very dry country and we, if we start dig like this, dirt will kill us and smoke. That's why putting some water on the top of the ground surface would help. And now provide us with the building materials. Am I clear? I think this— here it is. Easy, watch your step, please. Around the column, you can come here as well. You see this? This is the king and this is the goddess. Both of them, they're holding a hammer and they're just inserting a stick in here. 1, 2, 3, 4. 4 dimensions. 4 dimensions. The other 2 sticks have the other sign. They are marking the corners of the temple. And here it is. The king is pouring some water. Can you see it? To kill the dirt over there. We're done with this? Yes, sir. Give me the building materials, please. Can you see the red bricks in here? Work done? Yes, sir. The god is very happy and he even hugs the king. Can you see? Yes. Horus is given a hug. To the king, and half for the cow goddess. She's given up to the temple, to the king as well. And the scene we have over there is actually the hieroglyphic sign of the temple. The king is offering the hieroglyphic sign of the temple. Ladies and gentlemen, when we were in the college, we studied all of this. Definitely not all of it. I mean, We have studied some parts of the temple without seeing it. They told us under this layer of silt we should have this or that. One of the beautiful scenes they taught us in the college is actually the king pulling up 2 obelisks. There are 2 obelisks and the king of Tyrone, and he's pulling them up to stand them to honor the gods. Where is this? In the Garden of Adonis. Can we see it? It's here. But the black salt covers it all. We never saw it until 2 months ago. When they have cleaned it, we can see the 2 obelisks and the king walking there.
If you just joined in, I'm here in Egypt and I'm on an Archaeological Paths tour, and we're in the Edfu Temple, getting a tour, and he is explaining the stories behind this beautiful temple. And how it was a blending of the Greek with the Egyptian, and they're calling it Hellenistic. So keep watching, you're going to learn more. Yeah, yesterday I tried to take you to the Valley of the Kings, but there was no internet, and you might have wondered what was going on there, and that's why you didn't get to see it. There was no internet, it died, and I tried to I tried to keep it going, but it didn't work. But today, this temple is closer to a city, and I'm able to show you everything because I have internet access. So let's keep going through the temple, and our guide from the archaeological— archaeological pass is going to explain what we're looking at. Here we go.
We really forgive you. We really forgive you as Egyptian nation, as our friends.
But we cannot forgive you at all for stealing the Wi-Fi idea from us.
Yeah, yeah, you're right. Starbucks.
It's not only the Wi-Fi, but we have the Starbucks in here. Yeah, that is the other side. See how easy technology is? Those are actually the grilled ribs of the animals. King is offering them to the god. And the wine in here, symbol of respect. And the other side, those are growing plants, a symbol of resurrection. So this is one of the important scenes we have in the tomb. But it's not only you, you steal things, you stole things from us. The French did as well. Look behind you. You see this bridge in there? Have you seen this in the morning today? The French of Courvoisant. Courvoisant.
What that is. Look at the details. What's actually— why is it still very depressing? I mean, so funny, man. Amazing. It's actually the details right now. Look at the art details. Here is the Hellenistic artist, gentlemen.
Where's the doctor?
Here. Wait. A little longer. The hands and the feet drive the legs. You remember the 1-2-3? Wait.
Look at the baby bottom. In here. Very clear here. We need a female thing. With the female figures would be more homage because it became more Greek. The ancient Egyptians were very conservative when they represent women fully covered, wearing a veil. With the Greek touch, we start to have the topless one because whoever was working in the heart decided.
Okay, so I found a room where nobody is right now, and I thought I'd just show you around. Every wall tells a story. It's just amazing. Let me, let me see, are there any comments here? I can't see any of the comments going on here.
Okay.
All right, let me see you guys. All right, I can't see, I can't see your comments yet. Oh, there you are. I see you guys. Caden, possible. Anyway, let me show you this room while nobody's in here. What's the energy like inside? You know, it feels very surreal to me. I can't believe how ancient this is. Let me walk down these steps instead of fall down the steps while I'm talking to you. It feels— it just feels a voice of wisdom, of knowledge, the ancient. To be honest with you, it's surreal. Kind of feels like it's not of this world. Does that make sense? Okay.
Here?
Yeah, trip to 900. It doesn't feel like— feels like this was otherworldly. That's how it feels to me. Everybody here, though, seems to be having a different experience. Yeah, I like y'all's comments. See, where did my group go? Have I lost them? No, they're right here.
Yeah.
You had dreams where it's a portal of light and dark. That's interesting.
Let me
see some of your comments. Please explain. Yeah, I just did. Does it feel feels surreal? How do I feel here? I feel a mixture of the spiritual energy, but I definitely. I feel like there's an energy of the people that totally doesn't describe— I mean, the current evolution of the people here does not describe what I'm feeling in here. I don't understand why Egypt changed so much from the ancient times to now. Yeah. Let me walk away because I don't want anybody to hear me say all this, but, but it feels like, it feels like this was of another time. Well, of course it was, but I mean, it was not of the Earth. A lot of the energy here feels Does that make sense? It's not of the spirit. That's what I'm feeling. It's really— it is unbelievable. Um, and to think of how long ago this was built and the massive stones. I mean, if you could get the proportion, let me show you standing right next to One of the just one of these columns. I'm showing you the columns, but look, I mean, look at that and look at how it comes. And let me show you all the all the columns in here. So no one knows how they were able to carry this, build it in their day and age. Nobody gets it. They all have theories, and this group is very scientific. It's archaeological paths. And they're trying to make science out of this, which I understand. But there's— this definitely has an energy that is not of this world. That is what I'm feeling. And I don't know if you can hear me. Can you hear me very well? Because I'm kind of whispering. I'm kind of sneaking away from the group so they can't hear me. Can you hear me?
No. Okay.
Ancient magic. I like that. And it was, it was ancient magic. This is This is beyond what we can understand right now. We can't understand this because we're trying to— we're trying to explain it in terms that we understand today, and it's beyond that. Okay. All right. Good. I'm so glad you can hear me because I'm kind of whispering. But this is not of this world. That's why we cannot understand it. We're trying to make sense of it with scientific terms of things that— I mean, we're probably just not evolved enough to understand it, if that makes sense. Okay, good. Yeah. All right. I'm going to keep going because if y'all get bored with this, you can just tune in, tune out whenever you want. But I'm just going to keep going while my internet lasts here and show you around all the hieroglyphics, all of the stories being told to you. I like that I can kind of sneak away into some of the little rooms, which I'm going to do right here again.
It doesn't photograph well.
This is all these little rooms beside. All the symbols, the stories. Let me sneak back in with the group.
What do you call us? Feminine mystique. And you can see that here.
And I don't know if you heard that or not, but it took 180 years to build this. So—
They're handed down, right? It's massive. Guys, excuse me.
So I would want you to meet two of our other friends from this group. Sheila and Dale, say hello.
Hello, how are you?
You're going to be on my YouTube Live. All right, so when we go on these tours with my husband Daniel, somehow— well, if you met Daniel, my husband, you'd understand— but we become new best friends with everyone. Anyway, we're walking. I just turned a corner and here's another wall. Every single part of the wall has, has drawings, carvings, a story to tell.
In here, my dear. Please make way, let the others go.
Okay, here is the story, ladies and gentlemen.
That we have had the great god, the father of all gods, called Ra. I believe we're all familiar. The sun god. You help us. Ra is here.
Come on, he does. Just make a way. Come here, God.
Welcome. Ra created two sets of twins. Two sets of twins. Well, one of them was actually Sith with his own sister, Isis. Okay. In the other hand, we have had Osiris with his own sister.
Nephthys in here.
So we have the father, we have 2 sets of twins, Seth, Isis born together, and we have Osiris and Nephthys born together. Are we clear?
Father said you cannot marry your sister, you have to switch girls.
Well, so Osiris will marry Isis. And sister will marry Nephthys. Osiris said, okay, Daddy, as you wish. But sister said, excuse me, of course not. I will marry my sister because she's more beautiful than the other one. But Daddy said— Daddy said, hey Seth, calm down, do as I said. Seth had to listen, have no choices, but he kept something inside him. But he made his decision to commit a crime the day he knows that this happy couple is expecting a baby.
Okay, come here.
Oh, you come here. So here we go. We have Isis and Nephthys here. We have Isis and Osiris right here. Recently got married, happily got married, sadly got married in the other side. Expecting nothing, expecting a baby. Well, that's all. This one in here made his mind. I'm gonna take an action. He held a party and he made a golden coffin Fit to his own brother. Invited the entire family and he said, "Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention for a second, please? We've made this sarcophagus randomly. Whoever lays inside and fits him, it's a gift." Hey, please, ma'am. Please, sir. Please, sir. Brother, why don't you join? We're having fun here. When his brother just entered into the coffin and lay inside, the followers of Seth, they came to put the lid on and they tied the sarcophagus and they threw the coffin into the Nile. Nile carried the sarcophagus up, down, all the way to Mediterranean Sea. Mediterranean Sea waves carry that to Lebanon and a huge tree grow on it. The same exact moment, the beautiful Isis, she was delivering their son, the recently born little Horus. Horus was born and the bad news came. We are very sorry, my lady. You've lost your husband. We have no idea where is your husband's body. Well, Isis, the great beautiful goddess, she was confused. What she will do now? Raise my son and take care of the recently born one? Or I go to see the dead one? What I'm gonna do? Help! God, please, I need help for this. Same exact moment, there was a little cow volunteered. Who would play the cow role here? Who would be the cow?
I am.
Okay, thank you so much. So the beautiful little cow said, oh my God, definitely I will help you. Okay, how could it help you? Aisha said, would you please take care of my recently born son? Hide him away because his own uncle Sif, the bad guy— not you, don't take it personally, I didn't— the bad one, he is actually looking for his own nephew and want to kill his own nephew. Well, the cow said, girl, go and find out where is your dead husband's body. I will raise your son. Isis spent 17 years, a long journey, looking for her own husband. After 17 years, she found the sarcophagus in the wilderness. When she opened the lid, she found her son. Isn't this the mummy issue? All mummies are like this. So that's how and why the mummies are on fire this way. They were all imitating the murdered Osiris. She found the dead body, but what can I do now? Oh, my father, Ra. My father has the sacred name. With the sacred name power, I can bring back my own husband and brother. She went to her own father and said, Daddy, good news! We have found the body of your own dead son. Bring him back to life. Ra said, listen, daughter, so I wish, but this is violation of rules. I cannot. Violation of rules? When your other son murdered your first— the second son, you've done nothing. And now I have done it all myself and brought the body back, and now you say violation of rules? affect their plan. Isis, she had a friend of hers. This friend was a cobra. She had a deal with the cobra. You go to have an ambush by the entry of heaven from the eastern side in the morning. Ra about to enter his own heaven up there to illuminate the world. No coffee yet. There's no way. There's no way. Fight him and leave the rest for me. The friend did, and Isis, she was there holding the cure. Blackmailing her dad. Give me your sacred divine name and I will give you this. In the beginning, I'm immortal, I'll never die. He didn't know that the cobra as well was immortal, so he is going to die. Pain, agony, he could not resist. He had to reveal his own sacred name to his own little daughter. She became the strongest goddess ever afterwards. She brought her own husband back to life. Both of them, they start their own journey back to Egypt, and by the Egyptian borders, they have heard about something going on. Fights between a kid and his uncle and so on. It was Horus, the baby they had with them when he was 2 years old. He became 17 years old, and he knew what his own uncle did, and he started to fight Against his own uncle. While he was fighting, he lost an eye. An eye failed, so to be like 64 pieces. Horus managed to collect 63 of them, and those are the fractions in ancient— 1 on 63 is the fraction in numbers in ancient Egypt. He got those back to his own grandfather. It's a grandpa. I'm Not even 15 yet and look at me. So the Grand Master said, this is the eye, and this eye will be the protective eye, the healing eye, the eye of Horus.
Ah.
The eye of Horus is the healing eye. If you have doctors among us, you know the R in the prescription, it's the eye of Horus. Okay, healing eye. No. So the eye is here, but the problem, it's not 64 pieces, 63, which means we have an error in everything. No perfection at all. Anyway, the eye back again. The fight started again, but now we have the parents. They've joined the fight. At least at last the boy is not alone anymore. The boy with his own parents, they have managed to arrest They came into the trial and he was— the decision was to send him out in the Sahara forever. Well, so the good wins after all, and the happy family is in Egypt now, and they want to reward everyone ever helped them, includes— Except for the cow? Well, cow, you have a name, dear? Just cow. Oh, we will give you a name. You took care of our son Horus, so you were acting as a house of Horus. So a rectangular shape would be the house, and the bird inside is Horus. So your name is Hab-Hor-Khater, so the house of Horus. If we look around us, we're definitely going to see her name. Help look around and help me to see a rectangular shape with a bird inside. Rectangle shape with the bird inside. Where, where? Here, where, where do we— here it is. Can you see? A rectangular shape with the bird inside. Let's scratch it. Different thing. We're gonna have dozens of it everywhere. Rectangular shape with the bird inside. Guys, this is the name. Where? Here it is. A rectangular shape with the bird inside. This is the name of half of it. Wow. So we as a family, we will give you this name, dear. Oh, wait a minute, girl. Oh my God, I love your crown. Where have you got it from? It's the 2 horns and sun disc. Can you see this? The 2 horns and sun disc in between. That looks gorgeous on you. So how's the crown gonna sit? Oh girl, you can have it for some time. So Isis sometimes got the crown of Hathor, the 2 horns and sun disc. So don't you ever be rushed. Whenever you see a lady with two horns and sun disk, it's oh, Hathor, the child. Wait, watch out. That might be Isis. And how can they tell? From hieroglyphic as well. Here, when we read this, we have the shape and bird inside. This is Hathor. How about Isis? Nine. Isis is a chair with an egg nearby, or she will be having the chair above the sun. The throne. You see this?
Oh yeah.
Oh, see, here it is, same exact figure. We have the 2 horns of Sardis in between, but now we have the throne because Hathor, the very kind goddess, she gave the permission to Isis to have that crown. Where? Once. Is this the end of the story? No, because actually This happiness never lasts ever after because life will say it is safe.
Yes, we're in Egypt. So some of you that just came on, you're saying, where am I? I'm in Egypt. And you're welcome for being able to join in with our tour.
You will be the god of this life.
The guide should start a YouTube. You're right. Let's
see. So I want
you
guys to meet—
I want you guys to meet my husband, Daniel. Remember how I said everywhere we go we have new best friends? Say hi, Daniel.
Hi, Daniel.
Take your glasses off. This is my husband, my travel partner all over the world. And a lot of you that join in on some of our conferences, you will meet Daniel. He is my— me to take a picture of you guys? No, I'm doing a YouTube Live, and you're on it from Canada.
There you go.
People from all over the world, of course,
are here.
Let me see some of your questions.
Isis became—
Yeah, family portraits on the walls. But if you love cats, you would love it here.
Outside Egypt, in Athens, in Rome, and many places, and we still have people— Yeah, they
did. They revered the cats.
And she was the last goddess to die in Egypt.
Yeah, I know you can't even fathom the mathematics, but the precision of the stone laying and lining with her It is mind-blowing. Yeah, so I'm looking at some of your questions. I agree, I feel sad it's been so much too. Okay, here they come. Let me walk with everyone as our tour guide explains everything. Okay.
It's the truth, unfortunately.
Every time we saw her after, she was doing her bits in ISIS, helping ISIS, taking care of Horus, babysitting, whatever. Okay. She never had a major question to take it personally.
Okay, I'm looking at you.
Yeah. Yes, my dear.
Sorry. Well, this whole story, there's so many correlations.
Okay, I wanted to show him what somebody said about him.
But all what I can say, all what I can say, that this religion was written up as an article in the newspaper made the job of Christianity easy. Yeah, those are scenes here. Exactly. The journeys we have here for the fight between Horus, the falcon, and his own uncle. When uncle knew that the boy became 17 and he started to fight back, he started to disguise on the form of a hippopotamus to hide in the Nile. Can you see him? Hippopotamus is here. That's why Horus on a faluca with a spear and chain trying to address his own uncle in here. But every time the son, uh, tried to stab his own uncle, the size of the uncle Reduced. Look at this. It's almost a rabbit in here. Can you see him? Move forward, please.
Okay.
Yes, my dear.
One of my people said the guide should start a YouTube. That's from Kate. Kate said that.
Here we are. Can you see that? Here it is. Can you see the spear, ladies and gentlemen?
Oh yeah.
It's about to just get through the skin of the heifer. Oh my God, we got him, we got him! See, goodness is here upside down. Yes, so Horus managed to kill his uncle. Look at the chain in here. Evil has no end. It doesn't work, it doesn't work. But we can control him. He can minimize his own size. Inside us, we're both the good and the bad. But who's in charge? This is the point. This is the philosophy. It's the entire story, well, working around. Let's go. Here it is one more time. The chain, the spear here as well, upside down. Oh my God. Good news, ladies and gentlemen. Here is the union happening. We have Isis the mother. The parents already arrived to Egypt. Can you see the throne on her head? It's Isis. This is Horus. Look at the faluca, guys. You will see those tomorrow when we go to Aswan. Faluca is everywhere. This is identical to the one we have now. Well, so Horus with 2 chains holding the 2 back legs of his uncle, a spear. and his back, his own father with a spear on his head. They have managed to control the hippopotamus and they have brought him back to the imperialists. This is the arrival scene of the Holy Family, the father, the mother, and the son. Here, can you see? Yeah. And look at the size of the hippopotamus with all the chains around controlling him. Look at the celebration. Isn't that— All those trampolines in here, this is the belly dancers are waiting, are celebrating the arrival of the Holy Family. Guys, can you see this? Trampoline, belly dancing activity. Here we go. Closer, please. This is the court, ladies and gentlemen. Here is the courthouse. Look at the gods and goddesses are waiting for the criminal, and the criminal is here. The hippopotamus. Look at the chairs.
He got big.
He's bigger too.
Now yes. Now he's in the court right now. He is represented as a full strong god right now. Who is in the back of a bodhisattva himself has a spear on his head. There's no way. for transformation. There's no way for being bigger or smaller. Let me tell you something. This is my first time to see this.
Yeah.
Being honest, this is my first time ever to notice that there is a sphere and it's on him. And yet I said there is no room for transformation and there is no room to be bigger or smaller. Do you think I studied this in the college? That's where they got never. They have never mentioned something like this. But from my own background as a guy born in a small area here in the south, I have heard lots of stories about that from locals. They said if you ever walk in— Hold on, ask me again. If you are ever walking at night in the farming land and all of a sudden you have seen a creature like a donkey or something like this, walking around and you know this is not a real donkey, this is a ghost or a jinni, well, and you're really a tough guy and you're not freaked out, do something. Try to find a thorn from any dead palm and put it below his ear.
Okay.
Once there is a real materialistic thing get into the body of this whatever figure, he could not transform back. And he could not vanish. He could not hurt you. And there's even a story where it came from, a guy who was irrigating his land midnight, and he found the donkey running all over around without leaving a trace on the, on the, on the ground, which means this is not a real donkey. This is a jinni. Well, so the guy managed to get a thorn somewhere, and he just, oh, calm down, put it in his head. And he used him in the land for 2 months. Yeah. It's definitely fake. But this is Something we inherit from Pharisees. I assure to you, the spear here in the head to stop him from transformation, from disappearing, from changing the size. Anyway, let's back to the court. Here it is. Well, and those are the judge, and their decision is to silence, send him out into the Sahara. Gentlemen, please sit. You would love to see the tree that grow on the dead body of Osiris, here it is. Don't draw it out, please. Can you see it? Yeah. And for Horus, for Horus to live forever, we have the tree of life for the second time. Have you seen the one with Ramses in Karnak Temple? Do you remember?
Do it one more time.
But this time it is for Horus. Can you
see it?
Yeah, yeah.
Sorry guys, I consumed the almost all time for the free try.
Okay, here it is.
One last thing I'd love to show you: numbers in ancient Egypt. I believe we saw the Excel sheet with the numbers, but here we have more numbers. Follow me, please. 4 by 4 or 5 by 5. I'm going to show you the numbers.
We're almost done, but the numbers are going to be very interesting, so listen up.
Si c'est cent, chaque fois on rajoute un zéro. Voilà, cent, mille, mille, cent mille la grenouille et un million. Il a fait son million, c'est pour cela les soufflettes font le temps.
Ladies and gentlemen, those are the numbers in ancient Egypt. Make way, please. Get your camera ready, please, if you'd love to take a photo of this. Those are the numbers. This is number 1. This is number 10. This is number 100. This is number 1,000. This is 10,000. The frog is 100,000. And the happy man with his 2 arms up, this is a million. You're all gonna see this. But what did they use million for? This is a big question, and I need an answer in the bus. Think about it now. Again, one is here, ten is here, hundred thousand, ten thousand, hundred thousand, and here we have the happy guy is the million. Okay, take this photo please, and then let the others go. This free time, if you'd love to wander back, we're meeting in the cafeteria by. 10:15. So you almost had about half an hour free time. Okay.
Okay, I hope you enjoyed our tour of the temple. We just entered the, the entrance area. We took a full circle around this magnificent Edfu Temple. Let me show you my, um, here's my card so you see what temple we just entered. And it is every day, every site, every place that we're taken is beyond This is definitely a bucket travel place you've got to come see because it is astounding, all of the symbology, the artwork, what it's all about. Really, ancient Egypt was beyond this world. Look one more time. Okay, that— let me see if you have any questions. Probably I can't answer, but maybe later on I can answer for some of you. So let me see. Thank you for sharing. You're welcome. And go to the lesser-known temples. I'm on a tour. I got to go where they take me. I don't know where to go here. So, but I need to be a moderator. I really don't know till he explains what I'm looking at. But, you know, I will say this. They are more scientific, and it's good to see their perspective, but they don't want to hear mine. That's what I have noticed. So I'll keep my mouth shut. So with that, thank you guys for listening. I will be sharing my trip with you as we go. And, um, so stay posted. Thank you. I don't know what time it'll be, so just keep tuning in. And if you didn't make it, you can see the recording. It'll be up there. So I'm still here for a bit longer. I'm going to be flying home on the 31st, so stay tuned for more of ancient Egypt while I toured on my bucket list trip of all time. Thank you for being here. All right.
