Okay, we should be live now again. And this time I don't have all the interference or noise unless it starts in just a second.
We'll see. There we go now again. This time I don't have all the interference noise unless it's. There we go now. I did it. Okay, so we are live and.
And, yeah, we're not. Did I stop sharing the screen shree?
Yes, you did. And you're not echoing anymore. Yay.
Perfect. We are here finally. Yeah. So thank you for being patient, everyone. We are here live with Srikala Ram and she is one of the speakers at the conference that we're about to have here in October in Dallas, October 25th through the 27th. And Srikala, she has this fabulous book I want to show everybody that she just wrote on Gemini astrology. And let me just say, I finally get it. Thank you, Sri, you're amazing. And she wants to tell everybody a little bit to inform everyone about Jaimini and what she's learned from it. And I love using the carcass, the Jamini carcass. So I thought maybe you could talk a little bit about the carcass. But before we go full fledged into all the information and knowledge that you have. Well, that would take a lifetime to go into all.
Once we go into it. Please everyone realize that we don't have much time left before this fabulous conference here in Dallas is about to occur. And check it out. It is future ofastrology.com that's the website www.futureastrology.com. check it out your. You're going to be amazed with the quality of speakers. Some of my old teachers that I looked up to, such as Ronnie Gel Dreyer and Edith Hathaway, I followed them for years. They were my teachers way back when I started. And I have the honor to have my old teachers plus new teachers, such as Srikala, better known as Sri, to me affectionately. But Sri, tell them a little bit about you, how you got into this and, you know, your interest in Gemini. Let everyone know a little bit about you. It's fascinating.
Sure. Yeah. Thank you, Joni. Thanks so much. And I was about to say when you said you have your old teachers in the conference, you also have your students like me. So the circle comes full. It's a full circle. So, yeah, I just wanted to say thank you, Joni, for giving me an opportunity to speak at this conference. It is like, like she said, it is a very, very eventful three days. You know, a lot of information is shared in this conference. A lot of Very well known personalities are there. You know, myself, I'm a beginner, but Joni has, you know, she's been my teacher and I've been doing this for 10 years. But, you know, I guess even if I do it for 80 years, I'll consider myself a student because there's so much to learn. And astrology, it's a vast ocean. No matter how much you're able to get in, it's still ever changing. There's more information out there. But I was like, I was saying this conference is an amazing opportunity for you to learn if you're a beginner, if you're an expert, you will definitely find something new regardless. Right? So, and beyond that, you know, it's a very good opportunity to meet people and interact. And, you know, there's a great dinner at Joey's house. She's, you know, she's a great hostess and she opens up her home to all these, you know, astrology people who are interested in astrology, the teachers, students, and the people who come to the conference. So it is an amazing opportunity to network and to meet people and, you know, the 2020 predictions will be shared. So. So please try to make it if you can. Now coming to.
I want to add one more thing. I thought it'd be great to have it here in Dallas because it's so easy to fly in from the west coast, the east coast, we're right in the middle. And airfare is cheap to Dallas because it's American Airlines center and dfw. But the hotel that we have it at is spectacular. It is so beautiful. And it's like 15 minutes from the airport, so you can go in the morning and arrive. You're there.
So, yeah, it's very centrally located. But going back to Jodi's question about my intro, I grew up in a family, you know, where astrology was a very center point. I mean, the, my parents were, you know, they used to visit astrologers all the time. I.
My parents are from the southern part of India. It's a little. Have a lot of exposure to different religions because, you know, my parents are Hindus I grew up in. My real interest came in the year 2009 when I met Joni for the first time because, you know, she showed me a side of astrology which I hadn't seen growing up. You know, more of, you know, how do you get enlightened and, you know, kind of rise above your chart and actually reap the benefits of your chart if, you know, you know, what's going on in it. And this is a side that, you know, I had never heard of before because in India it's mostly like, you know, this is going to happen in your life. So, you know, let's take these remedies, let's do this. But I. The enlightenment part of it was something, you know, that was new to me back then. So then I became Joey student and I learned astrology and I graduated from university, which University of Vedic Astrology. It's one of the premier institutes on Vedic astrology in the country. And I'm grateful to be a tutor there. I teach some of the courses in the university now and talking about, you know, nothing, doing readings and I have a YouTube channel which I share in the comments below this video.
So Vedic astrology for me was a Parashara system because that's what I was introduced to. And you know, I still abide by it like at a foundational level. But a few years ago I kind of heard about Germany astrology and Joni teaches a great course on Germany too. And I wanted to learn a little bit more about it. So that's when Joni, I started exploring further into, you know, what, what is Germany astrology? And this is something that I've heard as a child too, because Germany astrology is prevalent in the southern part of India. And when I started learning astrology, I was like, you know, I'm not hearing the term Germany. You know, back in 2009, I'm hearing Russia a lot. But, you know, I went ahead and learned it. But when I got into Germany, I was like, oh, this is what it is. You know, I've heard about it when I was a child. But, you know, this is what Germany astrology is. But I want to explain to you guys that as I was writing this book.
I found out that the foundational aspects are very similar to Parashara system. And Gemini, Sage Gemini, he was a reviewed teacher in ancient India and he was Sage Vedavyasa's student. And Vedavyasa, as you know, was Sage Parashara's son. So that lineage, you know, from that kind of like Parashara's son and his student is Jenny. So that kind of tells us that he must have learned Parashara system to begin with. You know, it's just because own son was Jenny's teacher. So when I was learning, a lot of things were similar. The chart, the way the chart looks is the same. You know, the rulerships are the same, but that's kind of where it stops because the aspects are different. The DASHA system is different. There are new concepts like.
And also the karakas are very different. So I wanted to take the topic of karakas to talk about in this conference. And I asked Joni, you know, she being my teacher, you know, I always ask Joni, what do you think? Do you think this is a good idea? And she said, yeah, sure, you know, you should talk about karakas. So that's the topic I'm going to talk about, Joni. I'm going to explore Parashara system just to begin with, because I'm pretty sure most people there would be well acquainted with it. And then I'm going to take it into the Gemini system, show the differences and the differences in the karakas.
Good. So I know that in the Karaka system these are called, these are the movable karakas instead of the steerer karakas such as that we use in Parashara, such as the sun is the father, the moon is the mother, Mars is brothers and sisters, but these are movable based on the degrees. And here's a question that I've often wondered. There's two different systems that you can use, one that includes Rahu and one that doesn't. And so there's one system that I'm more familiar with that uses the seven karikas instead of the eight karikas that include Rahu. Can you explain which one you use and why?
Yeah, that's a great question, Joni. And I actually wondered about this when I started going into the Germany system. And I think I have the answer. So let me first talk about the Karakas. In the Parashara system, we have Thera Karakas, which means that they are the same for everybody. So the sun is the indicator of the cell for the soul. You have moon, which is the indicator of mother. And then you have Mars, the indicator of siblings. And you have, I think, Jupiter children, Venus, spouse, you know, Rahu and Ketu are the maternal grandparents or paternal grandparents and so on and so forth. So if you look at anybody's chart and you, you know, you want to look for the spouse, you get Venus. You know, in a man's chart, if you look, you want to look for, you know, the soul's purpose. You look at sun, regardless of what the chart is, the difference in Germany, and this is kind of where, in many aspects, you know, Germany, that's where I got the interest in it because it is very much dependent on your individual chart. So you could have a different set of karakas from the next person. And, and that's, you Know, very specific, very unique, very personal to that person. Right? So in Germany the Karakas are called charakarakas or they are like, they are changeable. Okay, so the Atma Karaka is the first one we look at and that is the indicator of the self or the soul. Now whenever you talk about the Karakas in Germany, we take the degrees of the planet and we say the highest degree planet in your chart becomes the Atma Karaka. And then the second highest becomes the Amatya Karaka which is the mind or status, social status and Gratra Karaka is sibling. So when you start at the highest degree planet, you come down to the next highest degree, the third highest degree, the fourth and, and so on and so forth. And that's how you have the seven karakas. So Bratrikaraka Matra Karaka, Putra Karaka and Natikaraka and Dara Karaka. So there are seven karakas. Now going to Joni's question about the seven versus the eight. This is a very controversial subject because many astrologers use eight and there are many who use seven. Okay? And the difference, just for those who don't know, the 8 Karaka system includes Rahu Ketu as well. And the 7 Karaka system doesn't include it. Now when I initially started learning Gemini astrology, I started thinking, you know, why don't we use. Because in my own chart, Rahu is the highest degree.
So you know, I was like, well, that should be my Atma Kharaka, you know, and why are we excluding it? And you know, when we exclude it, then sun becomes Mahatma Kharaka. But that's why I started with a question because for me personally it was making a huge difference, as I'm sure for many of you. So the reason that I kind of found out is, and again, not, you know, saying that it's wrong to use the eight karakas, I've used both and I've seen that the seven Karakas system works better. So that's why I personally use it. But I can tell you some of the reasons I found while I was researching this.
Sorry, can you still hear me?
Yeah, I can hear you.
Yeah. So whenever you think of Rahu and Ketu, they have the same degrees. Okay, now assume that Rahu Ketu are the highest degrees in your chart. Okay? So ideally they should be the Atma Karaka. So you never say that Rahu is the. If you, if you use the 8 Karaka system, you would say Rahu and Ketu because they are both at the Same degrees, it's dual. Right. So. But the problem is rahu is a maleficient and it is considered as an illusion. Right. Because there's a lot of rahu that is to do with. I don't know.
Can I interrupt you for just a second? Your sound is kind of. I don't know, it's. It's. It's not clear. But I don't know if there's anything you can do on your end. It might be just the microphone.
Sure, yeah. Let me. Let me look. Let me look. I might have. And was it clear earlier?
No, it's always kind of been like this. But I can hear you. It's just. I wonder if there's anything to make it a little bit better.
Okay.
If not, it's probably just the microphone we're using. Yeah.
Okay. I made it the highest.
I can make it, so it's still the same. That's okay. We can understand you. I just would prefer it to be a little clearer because what you're saying.
I'll hold it to my. To my.
I'm really trying to understand this.
So, yeah, like I was saying, you know, when we think of Rahu and Ketu, they'll both be at the same degrees. Right? So say Rahul.
Much better. Go ahead.
So say Rahu is like in my chart, like at the highest degrees, and it's the atma karaka. The definition of atma karaka in Germany system is the soul's purpose. Okay. So it's the. It's a very, like, in a way, kind of a salvation. It gives salvation, the atma kharaka. That's the reason the soul is here on this planet in this lifetime. That's what the atma karaka signifies. But what does rahu signify? It signifies illusion. It signifies material gains and bondage. So it's kind of the opposite of salvation. You know, Ketu is salvation, though. But that's one of the reasons why, you know, rahu is in, as per the Upadesa Sutras or the scriptures are not. It's not given the stature of atma karaka. They don't want to do that because they're like, oh, it's a malefic. And we don't want. We don't think a soul's purpose would be signified by an entity like Rahu. Okay. And the other thing is, you know, since like I said, both nodes are at the same degrees per force, they would both have to be considered as atma kharka. And they are at 180 degree degrees apart from each other. So then you kind of have.
A tug of war in terms of, you know, which sign do you look at, which aspect do you look at? Because they are both qualified. Right. Which one do I look at? Do I look at Rahu in Aquarius or do I look at Ketu and Leo? Right. So that's another one of the reasons and one reason. And these are the reasons I found out when I was doing the research. But one of the reasons why I personally feel, like I said, it has worked for me when I've used the seven Karaka system. But I consider Rahu and Ketu to be karmic planets. They are the karmic node. So when I look at those two points in space, to me that signifies the soul's journey from a past life to the current life and where the soul is going in this current life. So the Karakas are very much to do with, you know, your soul, your purpose, your career, your mother, your children. But Rahu and Ketu are way above that. You know, they have to do with the spiritual side. So that's one of the reasons why I feel it doesn't work as a, you know, regular Karaka. They have a much bigger purpose to serve. Yeah, okay, so kind of the reasons. But like I said when I started doing this, you know, I, Jomi knows me really well. I don't, I don't just go by what I read. So I started, I applied this for many charts. Like I used the 8 Karaka system, including mine. Like I said, Rahu is supposed to be my atma Karaka and I, you know, I use the 7 Karaka system. And for me, from all the research I've done, I've seen the 7 Karaka system works. But there are a lot of people who use the eight Karaka. So I'm not saying they are wrong. Maybe it works for them. But for me, this is what works.
Yes. And I've always used the seven Karakas. But I just, you know, it was like how. But then I started thinking of the pattern of the dashas that, you know, Rahu always follows right after Mars and then, then you go into Jupiter. So I didn't know if that pattern played out like it does with the dashas. Right. So it's not, it's different.
Yeah. The dasha system in Germany is also different. It's sign based.
Yeah. And that's so true because Rahu and Ketu are not ruled by it. They don't rule a sign. So that makes sense to Me? Why personally, why I would think the 7 Karaka makes more, more sense than the 8.
Because that's another reason. Because the Charadesha system in Germany that we use is sign based. And Jodi is absolutely right in saying that, you know, since Rahu and Ketu, you know, per se rude, any of the signs then doesn't make sense for them to come into play over there either. So you know, when we talk about signs and dashas in Germany, you know, it's in Vamshotri Dasha Parasha system we use planet, right? The Jupiter's Dasha, Rahu's Dasha, Ketu, Sasha, Saturn, Sun. But here in Gemini we use sign based dasha. So you could be in the dash of Cancer, you could be in the Dasha of Gemini, Aries and so on and so forth. And then predictions are made looking at the Karakas that are in that sign or aspecting that sign. So that's kind of how we make the predictions.
Yeah. And you know, Gemini to me just seems so complicated. But I have to say when I read your book, you simplified it so much.
Thank you Jamie.
Especially the Argulas. I mean that was a concept. I was like, you know, you have this and there's all these exceptions and rules that sometimes you just, I just kind of blanked out and thought, you know, well maybe I'll put that part aside, maybe I won't use that part of it because it's too complicated.
Well, you know, it's a very simple concept. It's like in Germany system you look at exalted Jupiter and cancer in the 10th house, but sometimes you see that person's chart, you talk to that person and you kind of realize that, you know, I don't see that, I don't see that. I mean there are no malefic aspects to that Jupiter, no malefic aspects to the ruler of that house, which is moon. So then why is this person not having that? I mean it's kind of like a 50, 50 kind of career, you know, not really great. I mean it should be great. That's where the Argelaus explained it for me. Because in the Germany system it explains how you assess the strength of a house based on Argal. So is the house able to express itself to its full capacity? That's what the Arbala says. So you may have a Jupiter, Jupiter exalted in cancer in the 10th house, but if the Ardala is obstructed, that Jupiter is not able to express itself to its full capacity. So that's Kind of the very simple way of putting Argala. But if you buy my book and read it, I explain it in much more detail with a lot of example charts.
I mean, for the first time I understand all the concepts that to me were kind of hazy before. You just made it so clear. I love that. So your book is just a simple, clear book. For those of you that really want to get into the Jamini system, which has. I think it's really cool to use two systems and see how you get the same results. I mean, that validates your prediction.
Yes. And that's one of the things that I try to really assert in the book because I myself started learning Parashara system and then went to Germany. And even to this day when I read charts, I start with the Parashara system and then I kind of use Gemini to assert what I'm seeing in the Parasha system or to make it, you know, stronger my belief. Right. So they work hand in hand. It is a very common misconception and a very wrong misconception that they are at odds with each other. They are not.
Yeah.
The Parashar system is a more generic kind of, you know, high level, I would say, prediction. Whereas the Gemini system, you know, kind of builds on that and gives you a more precise day or a week or, you know, more precise prediction. So they build on each other. You can't use one without the other. So that's one thing that I've tried.
To really make clear in the book and I love. You know, I've always used the Darakaraka because so many people want to know when they're going to get married, when they're going to meet someone. And the Darakaraka is huge for that. So for those of you that don't know, will you explain a little bit about what each Karaka is used for and how you.
Yes. The Atma Karaka is the indicator of the self or the soul. So it kind of tells you, you know, like it's the king of the chart. That's the way I look at it, you know, the king of the chart, the person that. The planet that tells you what this person is here to do during this lifetime on this planet. Okay. So you can assess that planet from every possible way. Once you know which planet of the Atma Karaka, you look at the aspects to that planet. You look at that planet in the Navamsha. You know, Karakamsha Lagna is one thing that I really touching on in the conference as well, because it's very important. When you take the Atma Karaka and find which sign it's in the Navamsha and then use that sign as your Karakamsha lagna in the D1. That is also very, very powerful. I'm going to use a lot of chart examples in the conference to talk about these and it's going to be very interesting. The second one is the Amatya Karaka. That planet is known as the minister or the advisor to the Atma Karaka. So you could have a really strong Atma Karaka. But if your Amatya Karaka is in a weak position, the Atma Karaka is not going to be able to express itself. And also whenever somebody comes to you asking about career, that's your Amatya Karaka. And once the Karakas are described, I'm going to go into the yogas as well in the conference and I'll have really good chart examples for that. The third one is Bharatri Karaka. If somebody wants to know about their siblings, you use the Bhatrikaraka which is the third highest degree planet in a person's shot. Okay? The fourth one is Matrakaraka. Like just like you use the fourth house in the Prasha system. That's kind of how I connect it. The fourth highest degree planet is your mantra, indicator of the mother. Mantra in Sanskrit means mother. Putra karaka is the fifth highest Putra means sun, children, intelligence, creativity, anything that's to do with the fifth house in the chart, that is what the Putra Karaka signifies. In Germany, astrology, Ganatikaraka is the sixth highest degree. This is a troublesome problematic karaka because it indicates the strife, the problems, the obstacles, the diseases or anything that could happen in this lifetime. So I have some chart examples that I'll be reviewing in the conference where somebody had the natikaraka time frame come through and they had accidents or you know, stuff like that and the spree or the Darakaraka which is the one that Jodi was talking about, Dara means spouse and this is the seventh highest degree planet and it's an indicator of marriage or spouse in general. So if anybody asks about when they get married, and this is very, very powerful in j astrology, I've used this with a lot of my clients because when you use the charadesha system, and I will show you this in the conference is, you know, the charadesha system is a span of weeks. You know, each time frame is a span of weeks so you can make a precise prediction about when the person will get married using a combination of Dara Karaka and the Chara dasha system. And that's very, very powerful. And it's very exciting to see those things work in celebrity charts, which we'll be looking at a lot of those.
So you're going to be showing us how to do this because I know that's one of the most asked questions of clients. When will I meet someone? When will I get married? So I do believe when you use both parashra with jamini, I mean, your predictive powers go up.
Absolutely, yeah. It's many fold. It's many fold. And you know, and that's one of the things about the talk that I'm going to give in the conference. I want it to be very, very practical. You know, there will be some theory that's shared, but a lot of my points will be driven across by using charts. So you are going to find it very interesting because, you know, I have a feeling that examples talk better than words, you know. So I like to show a lot of examples. And also talking about the Darakaraka question that Joni brought up. The yogas, yogas in Jenny system, you know, are. It's very powerful because, you know, you have the. All the yogas are based on how the karakas are interacting with each other. So since my topic is about karakas, of course I will be touching on the yogas as well. And we'll be talking about some of the very important rancher yogas in Germany. Amatya Karaka, Atma Karaka Chigyas, combination of Darakaraka and fifth house Lord. You know, there Amitya Karaka and Putra Karaka. So there are a lot of combinations of raja yogas which are powerful. And we'll be talking about Amitabh Bachchan's chart, Dilip Kumar's chart, Donald Trump, Angelina Jolie. I have a lot of exciting charts for you guys to see and learn these concepts. And hopefully by the end of this conference everybody will know how Germany astrology works.
They will. I mean you are such a clear instructor and author and writer that they will. If this is something you guys have been wanting to learn how to do, you'll know by the end of this conference, I promise. So thank you, Sri. So I want to remind everyone when the conference is. Yeah, we're almost there. I'm so excited to see everyone, which is October 25th through the 27th in Dallas, Texas. Go to the website futureofastrology.com check it out, you'll see what we're talking about the lineup of all women Vedic astrologers. It's pretty exciting and cool, but remember, guys, everyone's invited and I'm. And the most fun is to have. I'm going to have my 2020 predictions first time delivered here at this conference in Dallas and dinner at my house, which really allows us to get to know each other better. So I hope that you guys will check out the website. But before we go, I want to see if there's any questions. Sri, do you want to see if there's any questions that have come up on the screen?
I need to see your YouTube, Jody.
Just give me a second, okay? You can't see it.
No, because I'm seeing the zoom meeting.
I think. I think you can see it from your end, too. Just go to YouTube.
Okay, let me see.
They should be down at the bottom. Let's see. Hold on a second. Maybe I can help you out here. So everything's a bit delayed, as we know. And.
Let me see. Okay. All right.
Over to the side. Oh, there's a lot of. There's a lot of questions here. Of course.
I need a little help here. So let's see.
Okay.
I'm just logging in, Joni.
Just giving me a second down at the bottom. Let's see. Hold on a second. Maybe I can help you out here. So everything's okay.
I see it. I see it now, Joni.
Okay. Alrighty. Probably need to. Yeah. Mute The. The. Yeah. YouTube, which I think you. Oh, you. You muted yourself.
No, no, I can. I'm still here.
Okay. Okay, good. No, you're right.
Okay.
Okay, shoot. See?
So let's look at some of these questions. Technical issues resolved. Yes. I think that's like the lucky charm we have every time we do an interview, right, Joni? We always have technical issues, but it turns out to be great towards the end.
Can you hear me?
I can hear you. I'm just. I'm waiting for you to read some of them because my. My eyes aren't as good as yours.
Okay. So does your book cover Sarasati? Sarasati is, you know, it's more of a parashara concept, but I do talk a lot about the moon as Karaka as well as Saturn as a Karaka. So when you think about Sarasati, it's, you know, those are the two planets that are involved in it. So in a way it does, but not the actual term Sarasati. Okay.
Okay. Anything else that.
Let's see.
Request you to talk about the seven planets being Atma Karka and Amatya Karka. Absolutely. Tarun. I will be touching on that. That's one of the main focus of my conference topic. I'll be talking about all the seven Karakas and all the planets being each of the Karakas, what that means with charts. Right. So I have examples for each one of them. So that's, that's a very good one. So I will be touching on that. Let's see.
Does the Atma Karaka equal the soul's desire and can it be used as the lagna? Yes, at the. Absolutely. Jesse, you asked that question. So Atma Karaka is the soul's desire. And there is a concept which I will be talking about in the conference as well. But let me explain it to you over here. You can use the Atma Karaka. Take the planet that's your Atma Karaka. Find where it is in the Navamsha and that sign is called your Karakamsha Lagna. You can use that Karakamsha Ladna and assess the chart using that as your first house. And that's, that's a very powerful concept as well. You can see that working if you try that out. Okay, does that answer that?
Okay. And then Jesse seems to know a lot about Dara Karaka. Absolutely right. Lowest degree planet in the chart. And that's, that's what the Darakaraka is. Okay, let's see, what else do we have here? Joni, I think this is for you. Is it too early to predict the U.S. election?
Yes, it is. But I am doing massive research. I think I have some definite clues. The thing is that I can't see who the opponent's chart is yet.
But it's interesting, I'll throw this out here that I noticed that during the time of the elections, November of 2020. Well, Mercury practically goes retrograde on the day of the elections, which hey, when that happens it means we won't know the answer for a while. And another thing is remember that Jupiter shifts signs or Rahu and Ketu shift signs. Excuse me.
September of 2020, which is a huge big deal. And one last thing, Jupiter by November 20, around November 20 of 2020 will shift signs as well. So there's a lot of changes that are occurring around the time of the elections. And that's what, that's going to be a huge determinant on what's happening. And I think also this is not so, so much a part of the Vedic system, but the Saturn Pluto conjunction is so much about a breakdown of the old and Bringing in something new. So we're going to talk about all that anyway. Any other questions about Gemini astrology?
Yes, Jonathan wanted to know where do you get Gemini chart online. So Jonathan, this is one of the areas that I was talking about earlier. How the foundational part of you know, the chart and everything is the same for parashara in Germany. So if you have your Parashara chart, you can use that to make Germany assessments. The only thing you would need to know is you need to know what your Karakas are which you can assess by looking at the degrees of your planets which are in the, in the parasha, the chart that you have. Because the chart is the same. It's what you lean out of it and what you derive out of it using Germany concepts. That's the difference.
Okay. And okay, Moira, so you're saying we wipe Rahu and Ketu from Dasha. This means I'm now a Japanese, so I'm guessing you're saying Jupiter, atma, Karaka, you know, which you know, if you don't use the 8 Karaka system and use the 7 Karaka system, that's how it will work. And like I said, for me the 7 Karaka system has really worked and I don't use Rahu and Ketu as a karaka. Okay. All right, so let's see what else. Srikala, you look so much like Vidyapalan. Thank you. That's a good compliment.
Okay, so I think that's it, Joni. I don't see any other questions coming up.
