Marakas: Dashas Predicting Death: Conor Clapton

Joni Patry explains Marakas, planets in Vedic astrology that can signal danger or death. Using the Vimshottari Dasha system, she shows how planetary periods predict life events. She traces Conor Clapton's death at age three in 1991 to Jupiter and Venus occupying Maraka houses in his chart.

Hi, I'm Joni Petrie and welcome to my YouTube channel. Well, today I'd like to talk about the predictive system that we use in Vedic astrology. You using what we call the Dashas. And I think this is one of the most remarkable things about Vedic astrology. Now let me explain. There's many different Dasha systems, but the one that's most commonly used by most Vedic astrologers is called the Vimshotri Dasha system. And it is so profound. But one thing I want you to be aware of, that this whole Dasha system is based on where your natal moon is in your birth chart and where your natal moon is placed in your birth chart according to what Nakshatra it's in is what begins the entire Dasha sequence of your life. So this is so important to understand that Vedic astrology is what a lunar based system, Western astrology can be perceived as a solar based system. It's based on the seasons and the sun. But this is based solely on the moon. In terms of the Vimshottri Dasha system, that's the one that's most commonly used. Now there's many other dashas systems, Yogini, and also there's Chara. But these are all based on, on different variables. Some are based on the Ascendant, some on the Moon, and some are on Jaimini astrology. But the one I want to just give you an introduction to is the Vimshottri Dasha system. And all of the 27 Nakshatras, just like the planets, are ruled by a planet such as Ashwini is ruled by Ketu, Bahraini is ruled by Venus. So you see, each of the 27 Nakshatras have a planet that rules it. Just like a planet rules the sign, such as Mars rules Aries, Venus rules Taurus. Each Nakshatra is ruled by a planet as well. So depending on where your moon is and what Nakshatra your moon is in, the planet that rules that Nakshatra begins your whole Dasha sequence of your life. And there are nine cycles. There's three sets of nine cycles. And it starts from K2 and goes through Ketu, Venus, sun, moon, Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury. These are the nine cycles, the dashas, the planetary cycles. And depending on where you are in the grand cycle, each of these cycles have sub cycles that can really be determined way down to level of 7 sub cycles. But we're not going to worry about that and we're not going to worry so much. In this short video of all the details of how it's calculated. But I just want to give you a little reference point.
On how this works or how you can see it. So if you understand the meanings of the houses, then you can particularly work with this very simple way that I look at the dashas using the Vimshotri dasha system. So a computer program will tell you basically if you're in Rahu and the sub cycles Venus and then maybe a sub sub cycles Mercury. But it will tell you where you are and give you the dates and times when you change in and out of it, even the sub cycles. But to make this simple, I really look at the grand cycle, which we call the Maha Dasha. Maha means grand big. And the second sub cycle level down, which I call the Bhupti. Some people just call it the sub cycle, but I'm going to be talking about the Maha Dasha and the Bhupti. So it's the grand cycle and the sub cycle. So you're looking at, based on your moon, what cycle you're currently in. And, and then you look at your chart to see where that planet of the Dasha sequence, what house it's in, what house it rules.
And any planets next to it. But most of all what house it's in and what house it rules. Okay.
One of my sayings is when you look at planets in a chart, the planet in a house.
Is the occupant, it's the one who lives there, it's the resident of that house. But the planet that rules that house.
Is called the landlord. So if, let's say you have Jupiter in the third house in Scorpio, because Scorpio is the third house, the planet that rules Scorpio becomes the landlord. So Jupiter in the third. But the landlord is what? In Vedic astrology we use the old rulerships and Mars rules Scorpio. So that would be the landlord and the tenant, I might say. But aside from all of that, which if you take all of my courses, you get involved with learning Vedic astrology, you're going to learn these greater details. Especially in my university, all of this is taught. But, but I want you to understand that when you look at the dasha ruling planet, you can make that planet the new Ascendant. So we call this the Dasha Ascendant. Just where. So wherever it is, it may be in the third house, it may be in the fifth house. But look at count that as the ascender.
Wherever the sub cycle planet goes, which I call the Bhukti, count How many houses the sub cycle Bhukti Lord planet, goes from the new ascendant using what dasha you're in, what Maha dasha you're in. So if you understand the meanings of houses doing this, you will get a better understanding of what you can predict just by counting the Maha Dasha ruling planet as the ascendant and counting to where the bhakti ruling planet goes to, starting from the Maha Dasha ruling planet. So with that, I want to bring up a very simple chart that will give you an example of how this is done.
And I must say it's not a very good chart in terms to look at because it's very sad. But I think it very much explains a concept that I want to get forth for you right now. And that is Connor Clapton's chart. Connor Clapton was Eric Clapton's son. And around the age of three, he fell out of a high rise building and fell to his death. And this happened around the year of 1991. He was around three years old. But looking at his chart, you would never dream that this would happen just by looking at the placement of the Maha Dasha ruling planet and the bhakti, because they're actually.
Well, they're actually in a difficult placement from each other. Now here's a concept that I want you to get out of this particular class. And that concept is called marikas. Marikas marca actually means killer. When you look from house to house, you get a better understanding of what America planet or house is. Now the marka planets are going to be any planets that are in houses 2 or 7, or the planets that rule houses 2 or 7.
And here's how the concept goes. The reason why it's the killer and it is involved in death many, many times in a birth chart is because the two houses that deal with life are actually the third and the eighth. Now here's why. The third house deals with our life force, our energy, our courage, our willpower.
But when you go 12 houses from the third, which means a loss of our will, loss of our willpower, energy, our courage, our life, you arrive at the second house. So starting from the third all the way around to the second, that's 12 houses from the third, which the second house, that's why it is considered America. Now let's talk about why the seventh house is considered America House. That is because.
The eighth house is the house of how long we live, length of life. And it deals with birth and death. It is our entrance and endings and death. So if the eighth house Deals with how long we live, the length of life. If you go 12 houses from the 8th you will arrive at the 7th. Therefore the 7th house is also considered a house that is America. And I find that when you go into dashes of Marika planets many times it can be the end of a life. Now many times you can go into the dashas of Marika planets and you do not die. As a matter of fact I just left the Maha Dasha and the bhakti of two Marca planets and I did not die. So don't get that in your head. But I have found that for most people when they do finally pass on they will be in a Maha dasha or a bhakti of one of the Marika houses. So a planet that rules two or seven or a planet that's in houses two or seven, those are the Marikas. So with that in mind and looking at where the Maha Dasha and the Bhakti ruling planets are in a chart and counting from the Maha Dasha to the bhakti, I want to show you this principle in action and in the chart of little Connor Clapton. So with that let's put, let's put Conor Clapton's chart up here and analyze what I am talking about. So here is Conor Clapton's chart. And I want you to realize that at the time of his death his Maha Dasha and his Bhukti ruling planet was Jupiter Venus. Now when I think of Jupiter and Venus I think of the beauty of these two great natural benefic planets. But take a look at where Jupiter and Venus are in his chart.
Jupiter is up here in the seventh house in the sign of Aquarius. And the seventh house is a Marika. Now Venus being the sub cycle Lord ruler, where is Venus but in the second house?
And it's America. It is next to, it is next to Ketu and it is debilitated. But in reality I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that two Marika planets would bring death. When you're in the Maha Dasha bhakti, even if one of them is conjunct Ketu. But the real clincher is here. Go to where Maha Dasha ruling planet Jupiter is in Aquarius which is in the seventh house, mark a status and I want you to count around. Now when I'm using these South Indian style charts, remember to always count in forward direction clockwise. You never counterclockwise, always forward direction. And you'll, you will notice that the signs follow in their natural order clockwise. So going to Jupiter in the seventh house.
And counting clockwise to where Venus is. I want you to take note of what the Bhakti planet is, how many houses it goes from Jupiter, okay? Starting with the seventh house. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 6, 7, 8. So Venus, the Bhakti sub cycle ruler, goes eight placements, counting from the Maha Dasha as the new ascendant. And that's how you can better read charts, looking simply and clearly, counting from the Maha Dasha ruling planet as the ascendant to where the Bhukti is and in it, in this case, not only are both these planets Marikas and Venus being with Ketu, but the fact that Venus goes to the 8th House from Jupiter is the experience that this individual would have at this time. And we have to know that the eighth house deals with death. And the eighth house does deal usually with violent death. Many times it can be associated to suicides or murders, or in this case it is an accident. But I just wanted you to see this one little simple tool. And you know the bhakti going eight placements from the Maha Dasha ruling planet won't always bring a person death, but it will give you an example of what this person is expecting experiencing at this time. And at this time it was very eighth house energy in terms of death. So with this little tidbit of information, I'd like to close.
