A short YouTube talk by Vedic astrologer Joni Patry explaining that Mercury will be retrograde entirely in sidereal Leo from August 23 (station retrograde at 27° Leo) to September 15 (station direct at 13° Leo), with pre- and post-shadow periods. She describes Mercury's rulership over mind and communication, typical retrograde effects (revisiting, reassessment, forgetfulness, travel and contract hiccups), and highlights consequences for leadership and entertainers/Hollywood (Purva Phalguni Nakshatra). The video includes sign-by-sign guidance (effects by moon/ascendant) and promotions for her newsletter, classes, magazine, and website.

Hi, I'm Joni Petrie and welcome to my YouTube channel. Well now I want to talk about Mercury is about to go retrograde again. My goodness, it seems to go retrograde all the time, doesn't it? And when it goes retrograde, which is about three, sometimes four times in a year, but it's only retrograde for about three weeks. But this time the retrograde is going to take place completely in the sign of Leo. And yes, I'm talking about the sidereal Vedic positions. I have to say this every time. I hope you forgive me for this, but people will still asked me. I thought it was in this sign, not in the sidereal system.
So Mercury is going to be in Leo the whole time it's retrograde. Mercury is going to go retrograde August 23rd and it will continue to be retrograde till September 15th. And when it stations stands still on a particular degree, when it changes from going, going direct to retrograde, it kind of slows down, slows down, stops, that's called a station. And then it turns retrograde. So those stationary dates are stationary retrograde is August 23rd, stationary direct is September 15th. And the degree markings are so important. So when it turns retrograde, it's going to be at 27 degrees of LEO. And when it turns direct, it's going to be at 13 degrees of LEO. So it's going to travel backwards from 27 to 13 and then it's going to clear going direct. But you know when a planet is still going through those degree markings of 27 and 13, that's called the shadow phase. So there's a time period before Mercury goes retrograde that it will be in that it will be transiting over the degrees that it will be retrograde in. So before a retrograde period and even after a retrograde period, when a planet turns direct, it still has to transit over those degrees that it was retrograde. And they call this the shadow.
In other words, it still feels like it's retrograde on both sides before and after Mercury is retrograde. So don't look at those dates as the end all or beginning all of a retrograde cycle. This whole cycle is, that's exactly what it is, a cyclic.

And let's talk about Mercury more. What is Mercury?
Mercury is the planet that rules our thinking, mind and our communications. So everything that, how you process your thoughts, that's Mercury. And so how Mercury is placed in your chart will reveal how well you communicate or not communicate. And when Mercury is retrograde, a planet, when it goes retrograde means it's going backwards. From our vantage point of Earth, of course, nothing really goes backwards, but it's like when we're all traveling around the sun and the Earth, kind of like Mercury kind of pass. The Earth will pass Mercury and it appears to go backwards. And therefore all the affairs ruling what Mercury rules will become prominent for us to look into and re. Address, review, reflect, reassess, reanalyze. Rev is the going backwards to reassess everything and to make things right.
Now, the sign that Mercury is retrograde in is so valuable to know. LEO is the sign. I know so many people think of leo. Yes, it is a sign of leadership and it deals with rulership, leadership, because.
At the head. And yes, Mercury here means there's going to be a review of how people take charge of things. And that can even be in any organization that you're involved in, not just in government affairs. So in leo, organizations are going to have to really start looking deeper into their operations and how to correct anything that may not be working properly. Because what are retrogrades when you go back and get to revisit things so you can fix them? It's not all about everything just going haywire and everything going wrong. No, the reason why it does go haywire and things are wrong is because it's a time to review and correct things.
Now, it's true, when Mercury goes retrograde, we become more forgetful because it rules the mind and it goes in reverse. People change their minds. It's not a good time to sign contracts. And if you're going to be traveling, just realize there's going to be a lot of hiccups when you travel. It's not like anything terrible will happen. It's just that There'll be delays or mechanicals, things that need to be fixed.
But.
As I said before, if you haven't watched any of my other videos, I believe, because Leo is the fifth sign of the zodiac, which deals with the fifth, fifth house, which deals with what? Creativity and self expression. And it also is a sign of actors.
And guess what's been on strike and guess what's going to continue to be on strike with this Mercury retrograde? Nothing will be resolved right away with this. I think there's going to be a lot of repercussions and backlash and so lot of your favorite shows and things like that. We're going to see the ugliness probably coming out about Hollywood. That's what I think this Mercury retrograde can really bring into effect and how people were treated. Even if they do come to any kind of resolutions, the truth, then a lot of people are not going to be happy with the results. This is a problem. But the Mercury retrograde will have people really look deep into this. When Mercury turns direct on September 15, it will be 13 degrees of LEO, which means it's going to be right there in the Nakshatra Purva Thalguni, which to me I've seen so many actors, actresses, whatever you call them, actor, actress.
I've seen many, many performers and entertainers with this Nakshatra extraordinarily strong. I could name, I could continue and name so many. But regardless, this is the Nakshatra and this is a sign of entertainers and a lot needs to change in that industry and it will. So that's a good thing. Now Mercury being in Leo, it's going to change a lot to do with how we look at leaders and leaders and kings and presidents around the world. A lot of things are going to have to change in this area and this is good as well. But do remember, with Mercury retrograde, it is a time for you to reassess your life. And of course whatever house it's happening in your chart, it's time for you to reassess this. So I'll give you just a little recap of what it could could mean depending on if you know what your moon or ascendant is in the sidereal Vedic chart. So if your ascendant or your moon sign sit in Leo, it's going to affect you personally on every level because that's where it is for you. If you have a Virgo ascendant or moon look your everything's going to come up concerning your past and things that need to be healed. That were coming up from, you know, a lot of old, old things and memories, lots of healing. If your ascendant or moon sign is Libra, a lot of friends going to come back from the past that you, you need to sort things out with. If you're Scorpio, this will deal with your work and your career that you're having to sort out things and reassess and heal. If you're Sagittarius, then this, this will have something to do with your spiritual beliefs and how you believe in things, your truths. If it's Capricorn, it's going to be deep, getting to the core and the bottom of things. Psychological changes you're going to go through. If it's Aquarius, it's relationships you're going to have to deal with. If it's Pisces, it's your work, it's your health you're going to have to deal with. If it's Aries, it's going to have something to do with your children or your creative prospects in, in your life. If it's, if your moon arising's in Taurus, then this is going to have a lot to do with your home, your family, your real estate. Maybe a move, changes in property. If you're ascending or moon signs, Gemini. This is going to deal with how you communicate with people. People and maybe some, some unexpected trips. If it's cancer, if you have a moon or rising in cancer, it's going to deal with your financial problems. So that or issues, not problems, because I'm not saying it's just you're going to have to work some things out. So that's how this Mercury retrograde is going to affect all of us. And on some level watch and see how you can change and reassess your life, reflect and make the positive changes. That's what retrogrades are for. The ebb and flow of the tide. Now it's time to go back and reassess things and heal them. So with that, I think I'll close. If you would like more information on me, always go to my website, Galactic Center.org thank you.
