Joni Patry’s YouTube lecture explores the astrological meaning of Neptune, framing it as a planet of illusion, deception, denial and higher spirituality (Maya). She explains historical/cultural links (Neptune’s discovery coinciding with photography and silent movies) and lists domains Neptune rules—photography/imaging, symbols, movies, oil and gas, liquids (water, gasoline), alcohol and drugs, and the oceans. Patry emphasizes that Neptune conjunct or transiting natal planets strongly colors their expression (tighter orbs = stronger effect) and gives brief, source-grounded examples for Neptune conjunct the Moon, Sun, Mars, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury, as well as Neptune placed in houses (1st–3rd discussed).

Hi, I'm Joni Petrie and welcome to my YouTube channel. Well, today I'd like to talk about something very, very interesting. The mystery of Neptune. Because Neptune is a planet that absolutely is not understood because you can't understand it. It's all about deception, denial, deceit, spirituality, illusion and Maya. I mean, that's a heavy combination. What does this planet mean? Well, let me emphasize that when Neptune was discovered, photography came into the world. Silent movies. These are imaging of things that appear real, but are not real. So Neptune rules photography, imaging, symbols, signs, and of course movies. Because when you go to the movie, you think you're there. It takes you out of the world for the hours that you're in the movie theater. And it really does have an effect on you.
But let's talk about if you have Neptune with other planets in your chart, because it is very interesting. And let me just say this. The whole sign, if Neptune's in the whole sign with another planet, it will affect it. But the tighter the orb, the closer it is to Neptune, the more intense.
So if you have Neptune conjunct the moon, you are incredibly intuitive. And some other aspects of Neptune.
Besides otherworldliness, intuition, psychic ability. And the illusionary properties of Neptune can be that Neptune is seen as a higher octave of Venus. Because sometimes Neptune can deal with beauty. It can be so many attributes of Venus, but in the highest regard. So it can deal with theater, movies, art, music. Many times it has to do with this because it takes you into another realm. It's like elusive. It's not part of this world. This is Neptune. So Neptune with planets has a major effect if it's conjunct any of your birth planets and even oppose them. But the tighter the orb, the more significant these results will be. Now, even when Neptune is in transit, it has major, major, major effects. And one other very couple of other variables I want to add in here. It also rules oil and gas. It rules anything that deals with mist or clouds or gases. And it does rule liquids, which deals with water, which deals with gasoline, any fluids. That's a big category. The oceans. Neptune rules. So the other aspect that I want you to know, that Neptune rules photography, oil and gas, water. It can also rule alcohol. It is a fluid, but because alcohol causes a different perception, an illusion. It rules drugs across the board. Anything that changes your consciousness, your awareness, Neptune has an effect on. And therefore that might even be why the arts and beauty and music, it rules because it rules the vibrations, the ethers, and changes our moods, just like drugs do. Music has that effect on us. This can be the ethers, the quality of Neptune. But one more thing. I have seen Neptune rule.
It can rule allergies and disease sometimes. And that is a huge spectrum that Neptune can have rulership over. But let's talk about some of the examples that Neptune can have an effect on, such as the moon. Neptune close to the moon. Someone is extre, Extremely psychic, intuitive.
And with Neptune, with the moon, it may represent that the mother, because the moon is the mother, is delusional or psychic or very unusual, different, or maybe even into drugs or alcohol. Likewise with the sun, it's the same situation. If it's with the sun, because the sun is the father, it could represent a father that is delusional, not balanced, not in this world, or even into drugs or is dishonest. Because remember, Neptune is.
Deceit, denial, and can be cheating. So it can be a father that doesn't tell the truth or is delusional. Remember, Neptune can be what is not of this world, so it's delusional. People that have Neptune with Mars can be very delusional. They can be over the top into unusual things, but not of this world and maybe into drugs and delusions. So Neptune with Mars can be this way or over the top. Remember, the ultimate meaning of Neptune, which I haven't really put together yet, is spirituality. So many times it can be over the top, beyond this world. Because remember, it is not of this world. In essence, it's someone that is out of this world. So that can be delusional or it can be spiritual. There is a fine line with Neptune. Okay, so if Neptune is with Venus, it can be that someone is a romance and love addict. They're just totally into that feeling of falling in love. The other aspect is they could be extremely artistic, over the top. Remember, it's an ultimate expansion of Venus.
If Neptune is conjunct Jupiter, there can be extremes in the spiritual thoughts. They can be a fanatic, they can be unconventional in their beliefs. But they can be out of this world with fanaticism or something to do with extremes, with maybe drawn to cults of some sort. Or it can be just extremely spiritual. So Neptune being with Saturn. Saturn is reality. Neptune is beyond reality. So this kind of combination together can bring reality into the forefront. So being real with the unreal, bringing things together. And there are certain generations that have this conjunction with Saturn and Neptune. And with that they can be more realistic trying to make what is not real real, if that makes sense. So this is a powerful combination of. For bringing Unreal thoughts to reality and making things more grounded. So with that Neptune with Mercury, that can be someone that's incredibly psychic and someone that is out of this world in their thoughts or beliefs and how they think is very, very unusual. So that would be all the combinations possible. But let's talk just a moment about if Neptune in certain houses. So Neptune in the first can make the person very mystical in their eyes, very watery. Neptune in the second, they're not realistic about how they handle their money. And it can dissolve. As a matter of fact, Neptune is called the great dissolver. So it has those effects as well. In the third house, the there can be conflict or delusions with siblings. Or maybe the way that you learn is very different.
Not of the norm. Neptune in the fourth can be unusual. Secrets you didn't know about from the past in your family. Because Neptune can deal with secrets. And even in the second house it can deal with secrets within the family and the past in childhood. Things you didn't know about. Neptune in the fifth house. Very artistic, beautiful children, but may have some type of learning disabilities. Something's unusual and different about them. Neptune in the 6 is something I want to point out because you always need to get a second opinion when you have an ailment. Because there is likelihood of misdiagnosis with Neptune in the sixth house. And there can be a propensity to allergies. Allergies to food or the environment. To allergens in the air, seasonal allergies. Neptune in the 7th, be aware that your partner may not be totally honest or unclear when they try to explain or communicate. Neptune in the 8th, psychic ability, things you didn't know about from the past. Neptune in the ninth, unusual father, but very spiritual in your beliefs. Neptune in the 10th, an unusual career. Or you could be even into movies or acting, or even dealing with oil and gas. A landman per se. Neptune in the 11th, very unusual friends, definitive spiritual hopes and ambitions. Very much into optimism and humanitarianism. And neptune in the 12th would represent very prophetic dreams. Spiritual dreams that tell the future and things of the past that can give you your spirituality. That you can better understand your life through understanding dreams or maybe pass past lives. So that would be my analysis of the many ways Neptune can influence your life in your chart. But recognize if Neptune is transiting over a planet. So if you have any planets in Aquarius or in Leo, that means Neptune is going to be crossing over at some point within a 12 year span. Your planets so conjunct because Neptune is now in Aquarius As I speak, Neptune is 19 degrees of Aquarius. Or Leo, Neptune is casting its rays in light. And if Neptune is on any planets in Aquarius in your chart or opposing any planets around 1920 degrees of Leo, 1920 degrees of Aquarius. And throughout this year it will move up to about 22, almost 23 degrees of Aquarius. So Aquarius, Leo. Recognize you must be careful. You could come into a place of deception, deceit, denial. People may deceive you. Or this could be one of the most powerful years for spiritual elevation and information. But please be careful of being delusional. That's what Neptune can do. But Neptune is this beautiful force. Look at it as spirituality of the ultimate sense beyond this world. So I hope you got a better understanding of what this powerful planet information can reveal and give to you in your life. So with that I'd like to close.
