Hi, I'm Joni Petrie, and welcome to my YouTube channel. Today, I want to talk about Mercury, Buddha, Mercury is the messenger of the gods, the therefore, it deals with all forms of communications and how we connect to one another. So Mercury rules the Internet, television.
Radio, telephones, Internet, social media, everything that has to do with how we connect to other people, either through our communications or even travel. So Mercury is the messenger as the traveler. It connects people. It could deal with the mail service, it could deal with Internet in terms of emails, anything that deals with communication, advertising.
Anything to do with how we speak to people, how we communicate, how we give our message across to people. It also deals with the written word, so it can deal with writers and communicators in terms of using their hands. Because Mercury rules the hands, it also rules the lungs. And because Mercury is looked on as a dual planet, in other words, it rules duality. It rules twins, as we know. It rules the sign Gemini, and the symbol is twins. So in that instance, it also rules most of the organs and things that we have, two of which we have two hands, we have two lungs. And so therefore, it deals with this duality. So Mercury is all about.
Going places, because it's relative to the third house, which represents fast travel going back and forth. And another thing is because in Greek mythology, he is the trickster. Mercury deals with those that play tricks on people. And therefore, it deals with a great sense of humor. Comedians always have a strong Mercury in their chart. So since it deals with perception, it deals with really how we think, and it deals with how we process the information. Whereas the Moon can be the mind. Mercury is how this information is processed in the mind, how we think. And, you know, it's like when Mercury goes retrograde, we start thinking differently because the whole thinking process and everything that we're dealing with, trying to communicate and connect with other people, goes haywire when Mercury is retrograde. So another thing that Mercury deals with is education and learning. So it deals with the early years of education and learning and how we learn. And it can also deal pretty much with our creative ability when we're using our hands, because, remember, it rules the hands, but in Greek mythology, because it is the trickster, it can deal with thieves and people that are cunning and manipulative to try to.
Steal or overcome other people. So it does kind of have that quality. Another thing about Mercury.
Is that it rules a sense of humor, but it also can rule quick travels. And the other thing is it deals with morals. Sometimes, I guess, this has to deal with the trickster quality that it has and dexterity, the ability to write, use our hands and be.
To be how coordinated, how coordinated you are. It also deals with youthfulness. And they say that someone with a strong Mercury can be like the perpetual Peter Pan. They never grow up. But people that have Mercury in the first house or a Mercury ruled ascendant may never age. They always appear more youthful. So that would be Mercury in the first or.
Mercury ruled Ascendants, which are Gemini and Virgo, but particularly Gemini, they could stay more youthful looking throughout the years. So Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo, and its exaltation sign is Virgo. So Mercury in Virgo is incredible. It's strong, it's powerful. People with this are highly intelligent, they're smart, they're witty. People with Mercury in Gemini are very funny and have powers of communications.
So Mercury in the first is very strong. As a matter of fact, it gives Digbala in the first house, so that's its strongest placement. And it is debilitated because it's exalted in Virgo. It is debilitated in Pisces, which, let me remind you, many people I know with Mercury in Pisces, they think outside the box. And I know it's debilitated, but go explain the fact that Einstein has Mercury in Pisces, So they think outside the box. It's not that they're not intelligent, that I can tell you for sure. So Mercury rules Wednesday, and its gemstone is the emerald, because Mercury is green. So therefore, to pay homage to Mercury on Wednesdays, you would wear green. And the gemstone, the emerald is what you would wear to open up more of your communications, how you can communicate better with other people. Mercury in the second house is you're thinking about how you're going to make money. You know, you constantly have that thought. Mercury in the third house could sometimes mean you're the youngest or that you're always traveling, going places. It's easy for you to learn. Mercury in the fourth house could represent that your mother, it was important to her that you got a good education. Education is important. Mercury in the fifth house, very, very creative as well as Mercury in the third house, creative as well, particularly around writing skills, expression through the written word. Mercury in the fifth could mean a writer of books. Mercury in the sixth house could represent that there's a lot of people that you work with that you become friends with. And Mercury in the sixth house could represent that you're prone to dysfunctions with the lungs. And this all depends on what sign it's in though. So Mercury in the seventh house. It's really important that you can communicate with your partner. Mercury in the eighth house. Actually, Mercury becomes strong in the eighth house. It's really the only planet that picks up strength in the eighth house. And it represents someone who is a deep, profound thinker, maybe even a scientist. Mercury in the ninth father travels, but higher education is important. Mercury in the 10th is great for career. You should be in a career that involves some kind of communication skills. Advertising, sales. Remember, Mercury is your communication. Can you convince someone to buy something? Yes. Mercury in the 11th, many friends, youthful friends, people that are funny, entertaining. Mercury in the 12th is that possibly there's a lot of long distance traveling. So Mercury is that mercurial energy that.
That is fun loving, fast and very adaptable. Remember also the the planets that Mercury is next to. It will take on the flavor of those planets because it is such an adaptable planet. If Mercury is next to Saturn, there is a solemn way of thinking and processing information. If Mercury's with Jupiter, they're very flamboyant and fun loving. If Mercury is with Venus, which is a nice combo, they're sweet, they're kind and attractive. If Mercury is with the sun. Remember, Mercury is probably the only planet that is not bad to be with the sun. Why? Because it's always with the sun most of the time because it travels so close to the sun. So many people will have this and it's not going to burn up the energy of Mercury.
So with that I would like to close. And if you would like more information on the planets or learning Vedic astrology, you can go to my website, which is GalacticCenter.org or to learn Vedic astrology, go to my university, universityofvedicastrology. Com. Thank you.
