Hi, I'm Joni Petrie and welcome to my YouTube channel. Today I'd like to talk about Rahu and its placement and what it can mean in your chart. And so Rahu is the serpent's head. So when we talk about Rahu, we're really talking about.
The dragon's head. And remember, Ketu is the dragon's tail. So what happened was in the mythology.
The planets were all lined up to receive the nectar of immortality. And as they were lined up, here comes slithering the snake in between the sun and the moon. And before the gods could be alerted, it had drank the nectar of immortality. Amrita. And so then Lord Shivas threw the disk, split the serpent in half, but it had already drank the nectar so it couldn't die. So we have the dragon's head or the serpent's head and the serpent's tail, which is Ketu. So Rahu is the head which deals with the thinking, it deals with the mind. And I believe it can deal with obsessional qualities such as when Rahu's conjunct planets, it brings obsession, it brings extremes and it will expand the qualities of any planet it is next to. So it's like a planet on steroids. But sometimes it can have this negative effect because too much of a good thing is too much of a good thing. So. So Rahu can deal with specifically addictions. And sometimes I find with Rahu being conjunct the sun, it might be that the father can have addictions, whether it's drinking, gambling, anything, womanizing something is over the top, to an extreme because that's what Rahu's all about. It's this poison which is of the materialistic world. So you see, Rahu is of the materialistic world, everything to do with that. So it can bring fame and fortune and many times does. But if it does bring fame and fortune, it brings an array of problems that are attached to possibly being famous. Where you can't go out, be amongst crowds, you're, you know, constantly on alert. Things like this. It always has this. It always has these repercussions that will come along with too much of a good thing, such as obsessions and addictions. It rules extremes, so it can deal with anything to do with the consciousness constantly over processing or overthinking things. So as it's with other planets, it can cause this obsessional quality to it. But remember, Rahu is all about gains and extremes. But it can deal with this contentious attitude of too much.
When Rahu is with the sun, this is where in the mythology, the serpent came between the sun and the moon. So that's symbolic of eclipses. So when you get Rahu with the sun, this can represent a time of eclipses because you must have the sun, the moon together with Rahu in order to have a solar eclipse.
So this is with the sun. It can deal with obsessions and qualities of the ego of the person and of course with the father. Remember that Rahu is what brings us into this world because it is what we call the ascending node. And the nodes are Rahu and Ketu are the north and the south node of the moon. So Rahu being the north node of the moon, it is where the moon crosses the ecliptic going upward. And the ecliptic is simply the path of the sun around Earth from our vantage point. So where the moon hits that ecliptic, that point in space going upward is Rahu. So it brings us into this world. Whereas where it hits the ecliptic going downward is called the descending south node, which is Ketu. And Ketu takes us out of this world. But Rahu is our desire, body, what it is that brings us into this world, what we want out of life and the materialistic, success and fame and fortune, that's what Rahu is going to give. But it can cause obsessions and addictions and qualities of too much in this world. So Rahu, if it is with Mercury, this is the mind, this is the mental, never stopping the thinking process and obsessing about things. Rahu with Venus will be someone that's very involved in beauty, design, glamour, beautiful things in life to an obsessive quality, luxuries and wealth. That could be Rahu, Venus. And remember, Rahu is also about foreigners, people from foreign places, countries, and many times people with Rahu. Venus could marry or be drawn to, for the most part, foreigners. Something culturally entirely different from who and what they are. So Rahu being with Mars can be someone that is an athlete, strong, vivacious, powerful, driven, courageous, accident prone, but they can't stop going. And it's also, you know, a very sexual drive. Mars, Rahu and.
Venus, Rahu can also be a sexuality and sensuality.
Rahu conjunct Jupiter can be extremes, but it can cause problems with children. Rahu conjunct Saturn can be this very strong focus, energy and.
It can actually be a positive in many respects to be able to focus and organize and be that person that creates. When you have Rahu conjunct the outer planets, it intensifies those energies, such as Rahu with Uranus, Rahu can also deal with technology and the future. The Internet, machines, machinery. And with Uranus, it's like over the top dealing with technology. Rahu conjunct Neptune can be the spiritual mysticism that's over the top if it's conjunct Pluto. This can be extremes with fighting or violence or control issues. So throwing Rahu through the house as Rahu in the first is going to make the person maybe large, tall, stature. These type of things in the second house can bring wealth and money, but problems in early childhood. If it's in the third house, you may be the youngest one. It can separate and cause problems with younger siblings, but be drawn to an area of computers and technology. Rahu in the fourth, problems with the mother and issues. Rahu in the fifth can represent children that are difficult and maybe famous extremes. Rahu in the six actually is great for health, creates a strong immune system. Rahu in the seventh, issues around relationships and that the partner is extremely over the top, dominant and strong. Rahu in the eighth, issues around money, inheritance, other people's money. Rahu in the ninth, problems with the father. The father is over the top and may have problems with addictions. Rahu in the 10th, great career success. This brings what you desire into your life through your work and career. RAHU in the 11th, you're the oldest one in your family, or there is a distance between you and the eldest and many influential and powerful friends in your life. Rahu in the 12th, you are drawn to foreign lands and countries. So Rahu gemstone is hesanite. And I strongly discourage you to wear it because many times they say that Rahu, with its extreme power, it can deal with cancers. And do not wear the gemstone because it could. It could cause worldly success, but problems in the health. I wouldn't. I wouldn't tamper with it. Parashara in the old text that it is believed that Rahu is exalted in Taurus and debilitated in Scorpio. But I haven't seen that to prove out completely. I think it could be reversed. And I do know this Rahu does extremely well in air signs. And I like Rahu in Aquarius. It's good in Gemini and Libra, but Aquarius is my favorite. So that's where I think it picks up positive strength. Because remember, it deals with the thinking capacity of the mind and consciousness because it is the head of the dragon. But sometimes it can lead to obsessional qualities in our thinking. Being totally consumed with the materialistic world and things of this world. Therefore it leads us away from our truth and our spirituality. So with that, I would like for you to go to my website if you need to know more information and. And that is galacticenter. Org.
